“Let’s do it in the morning,” Sage said.

“You don’t have to ask. It’s yours.”

  “No…I mean get married.”

  “Yes, baby, let’s do it.”

  “We just need a witness.”

“I’ll contact Mya in the morning…But, baby, why tomorrow? It’s not that I don’t want to and I’m well aware of your spontaneous character, that’s one of your main attributes that has me so crazy about you…. But you’re traveling to resolve the problem that Perry created and keeping me in the dark about it does bother me a little. Maybe we should hold off on taking this next step until this is all over? Everything was perfect before this happened.”

“Now we’ve had our problems in the past. Some more serious than others, and we withstood them all or we would not be here…Together.”

They stopped rocking. He says, “I feel as though God allowed us to enter each other’s lives. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I don’t want God to think we are only talking about it and not doing anything about it. We’ve talked…God heard. Now let’s do, so that we can receive more blessings. Because right at this moment, I feel as though we are living in sin. We can have a ceremony. We can have the whole nine. Let’s just do the most important part of the ceremony, tomorrow.”

He kisses her and asks, “Do you have a problem with that?”

  Deva whispers, “No Sage…I don’t.”

They noticed that it was a full moon and how its light filled the bedroom. Sage’s interfering recollections disappeared as they made love throughout the night.

In the morning, they called Mya and asked to join them as a witness of their ceremony. They also stopped by the optometrist’s office to get his eyes examined. The doctor did not find anything wrong with his sight, only that his eyes had simply changed colors, which he found incredible and requested that Sage return one day for further studies.

By 1:00 p.m. that afternoon, they were married. They arrived back at home shortly thereafter. Sage turned the car off and immediately jumped out of the car and around to the passenger side. He opened the car door and picked Deva up from the seat. As he walked towards the house carrying Deva he asks,

“Mrs. Mecan, are you ready for a night filled with passion?”

“OOOH Sage, say it again.” He stops walking.

  “Okay…Are you ready for a night…”

Deva interrupts, kicking her feet, “No silly!…Say my name.”

“Ahhh. Mrs. Mecan.” They kiss. “Mrs. Mecan.” They kiss again “Mrs. Mecan.” They kiss. “You know if we keep this up out here we may not make it inside and end up giving our neighbors a show.”

  “I don’t care because I’zzz married now.”

“Okay, but once we start I’m not stopping.” He begins to lower his body.

Deva looks down at the ground, kicking her feet again yelling, “No Sage! Take me inside!”

Sage carries her up to the door, unlocks it and begins to push and says, “If you think last night was special, wait until I get you inside.”

“If I didn’t know any better Mr. Mecan, I’d think you were on a procreating assignment.”

“And when that happens, Deva, it won’t stop my strong desires of wanting to make love to you. Your spirit illuminates my being, pregnant or not. I love you so much Deva.”

“Sage you are going to make me cry. I love you too.” Sage pushes the door and kisses her as he carries her into their home. Sage looked into the room and said, “What the…” A few people standing there with their mouths wide open. Sage looks closer while lowering Deva and says, “Mrs. Stacker?” Who looks at him and replies, “Surprise!”

Sage looks at Deva who says, “Mom! I told you the keys were in case of an emergency for me!”

Sage says, “Well they’ll be useless tomorrow, because I’m changing the locks. Now is there anyone else in here that I should be made aware of?”

Mrs. Stacker answers, “No son, everyone else is out back in the yard. No one has been upstairs. If anyone needed to use the bathroom, I directed the guests to the restroom located in the den.”

Sage rubs his face as he walks up the steps towards the bathroom. Deva looks at her mother with rage in her eyes and says, “I cannot believe you did this! Just when I think the previous stunt you pulled could not be topped, you prove me wrong!”

Mrs. Stacker replies, “I apologize for disrupting your procreating plans, but you were well aware of the preparations your father and I had in store for you and Sage. What on God’s green earth did I do to deserve this act of deception?”

“Mother, give me the keys.” Mrs. Stacker hands her the keys. Deva grabs her mother’s hand and said to everyone else in the room with a pleasant smile, “Everyone please step out back with the rest of our company. Thank you. Wait a minute mother. I need to speak to you.” They step off to a part of the kitchen where no one could see the two of them and says to her mother, “I know that I can’t change you and the decisions that you make when it comes to me. After all I am, to you, your little girl. But you have to take into consideration that I am grown. I have a husband and you have a son-in-law who loves you and daddy very much. Now if Sage begins to have doubts about our marriage because I have a mother who will not allow my husband and I to create our own tranquil path together,” Deva smiles. “You’ll never see me again.”

“Deva, you know I don’t want you to leave me.”

“No mother, you don’t understand.” Still smiling, “I would kill you. Daddy would be wifeless and I would be incarcerated. Now we don’t need these extreme occurrences in our lives, do we?”

Sage walks into the kitchen. “Here are the two most important women in my life, my mother in law and my wife.”

Mrs. Stacker starts to cry and says, “Sage I am so sorry for being a pest and coming into your home without your permission, I just wanted to do something for you and Deva. I….”

Sage interrupted her and said, “Mom. I understand what you did and why you did it. I was just caught off guard. I appreciate what you tried to do which was to give us a reception.” He looks out into their back yard. “By the size of this crowd, I’d say you did a pretty good job. Thanks Mom.” He kisses her on the cheek. “Now let’s go outside and get something to eat. I’m starving!”

Wiping the tears from her eyes Mrs. Stacker says, “Wait! Wait! I want to introduce the two of you.” Mrs. Stacker runs out into the back yard and yells, “Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention please!” Everyone became silent. “I introduce to you the newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Sage Mecan!”

  D.S. THE LOVE

Sage and Deva began to mingle in the crowd and to thank everyone for coming. “It seems as if the entire neighborhood is here,” says Sage.

“That’s because of the love everybody has for you, son,” came a familiar voice behind Sage. When Sage turned around, he noticed that it was Scripts with a plate of food in each hand. “Besides having the best food for any occasion good or bad, y’all two are the most popular. I get tears of joy just thinking about the two of you.”

“You sure it's not the number of plates that you collected?” asks Sage.

“I'm appalled!” yells Scripts. “I'm mainly here because of the history in the making. Today we are all experiencing a mazedual connection.”

Sage laughs as one of the visitors of the party says, “That's not even a word. You just made it up.”

“Chump! Don't tell me what I made up. It rhymes with hazy except the y is an e. It basically means that you and Deva's unification is so fortified that there is nothing or no one that can break through the maze it created to protect it. Your marriage is the real deal! Not that five or ten year mess! Couples nowadays don’t understand the meaning of old-fashioned courtship and soul love. When a man and woman, did damn near everything together, down to wearing the same outfits when going out…” Everyone interrupts him with laughter. “See, you think what I’m saying is funny, but that sends a strong m
essage to everyone that sees that couple.”

A guest yells, “Yeah, he’s hen pecked!” Everyone laughs again.

“No idiot! It means that the love for one another is uniform and they are satisfied with the world that they share and build together. I don’t see much hand holding with couples of today. So worried about what strangers think. If you love each other, it should not matter what people think.” He drinks some of his beer and continues to talk. “Young women lost respect for themselves! I remember when they dressed like ladies. Now they show off the crack of their butts just so someone could see her tattoo or the color of her thong! And expose everything about the breast except the nipple! Hell, the clothes they wear, are so thin, you can even see that! You know what I think should happen? I think all of the women from the late 20’s on up, need to bring back the long dresses that come down to the ankles. Just expose the beauty of her neckline. And when the lady walks, you see the respect that woman has for herself in her stride, leaving a great big room for the imagination! I guarantee you that young men will straighten up when they see elegance walk by them.” Mrs. Stacker says, “I see you are commenting about the flaws you see in the young ladies, what about the young men?”

“Oh, I have a lot to say about those filthy looking little bastards.” Everyone bursts with laughter. “That’s what I call them until they straighten up and fly right. What in the world possesses a person to walk around with their pants hanging halfway off of their ass? I have seen one young man who had his pants completely past the hump of his butt and then the belt was tied around his thighs, smoking one of those Philly blunts in one hand and gripping onto his pants with the other. I said to myself, now I know where all of his common sense went. It left with all those puffs he took. I believe you could sell him a full deluxe box of platinum knowledge. All he would hear is the word platinum and try to put it on a chain or in his mouth for teeth. These young adult boys are lost and choose to stay set in their ignant ways,”

  The group says, “Ignorant.”

“Whatever, you know what I mean anyway, may have destroyed their generation. It’s obvious that the majority of them were raised without a father, who is a failure of course. And the mother, if not on drugs and that’s not a crack baby the woman has, had to work to make ends meet. Most of the time, the girl is young her damn self. What needs to happen is that the older men with just some wisdom…it does not have to be a lot, just some…talk to the younger boys that are just starting to reach the teenage years. They already see what the older boys are doing and know that it’s wrong. But they need help in finding self-respect for themselves, and the knowledge that they are cared about during their upbringing. And when they see those young ladies with the long dresses, they’ll know exactly what to say and how to treat a woman. Then the cycle can evolve and blossom once again because they can both see pride and admiration for one another. But getting back to Sage and Deva, I see the positive things in y’all. You two will grow old together. Well I said enough. Time to tell my story walking. Bye!” Everyone says bye to Scripts as he carries his plates of food to his carts and walks out of the backyard.

Deva's father approaches Sage and says, “You know, the old man is right. I see and feel an eternal relationship when I think of you and my daughter. It's certainly an honor to have you as my son-in-law. Welcome to the family, son.” They hug.

  “Thank you Mr. Stacker.”

Mr. Stacker puts his hand on Sage's shoulder and says, “No…no son. You are going to have to address me with another name. David…Dad…. Not Mr. Stacker. Ok?”

  Sage smiles and says, “Okay…Dave.”

Deva approaches. “Here are the most important men in my life. I need only one of them right now.” Deva grabs Sage's hand. They walk into the middle of their yard and begin to dance. “This is what I want…And that’s to dance with my king.”

A song plays in the background. You and I…We share a love that will never die….

Sage whispers in her ear. “My queen.” He looks deep into her eyes. “Now I feel complete.”

“Sage, does this mean that your journey about Perry is over?”

“No. That's far from over. It means that my world has all of the elements needed to handle the unknown.”

Deva begins to cry. “I've always wondered if I would find the man that would make me want to hold onto something within him…very tight, and never let go. Not caring where he goes as long as I'm just there feeling the beat of his heart, the expanding of his lungs, and the sounds of his footsteps. You make me feel like that and so much more. I'm so happy this is not a dream.”

  “What if it was?”

“Then I'd rather die while I'm still in it than wake up and be miserable.”

“What if your reality is greater than this?”

“It's impossible to feel anything greater than this.” They passionately kiss as Sage is kindly wiping the tears from her soft face.

They stood there and slow danced for three hours. Everyone there began to feel as though they out stayed their welcome. By the time Sage and Deva realized that they had been slow dancing for hours, everyone was gone except Mrs. Stacker who was about to leave.

Mrs. Stacker yelled, “I locked up the windows and I will lock the door behind me. Bye newlyweds!” Mrs. Stacker closed the door behind her.

“We have to send thank you cards.” Sage says smiling as he locks the patio door once they were inside.

“My mother will handle that. Mom will do everything as professional as possible. Mom thinks that we are the Jones family.” They laugh as he picks her up and carries her through the thoroughly cleaned kitchen and up the stairs.

“You certainly know how to pick up where you left off.” Deva whispers in his ear and begins to nibble on his cheek.

“This is one of my many qualities. But of course you are aware of that.” Sage carries her into the master bathroom where they undressed one another.

Sage turned on the shower and stepped inside. Deva walked into the stall and began to wash his body as he washed hers. After they rinsed one another, Deva got down on her knees and began to caress and massage him. His legs began to buckle. He turned off the shower, stood her up, and got down on his knees. Deva placed her leg on his shoulder and leaned back against the wall. He picked her up and put her other leg on his other shoulder. Deva locked her legs around his neck and began to moan and tear at the walls and said, “Oh Sage! Babyyyy yes!” Deva threw her fists in the air as he carried her while in that position to the bed.

Deva says, “Baby, I have some oils in a bag that I just purchased the other day. I want us to use some.”

Sage responds, “Okay, where is it?” Deva turned on the light and began searching by looking on the dresser, in the closets, inside the dresser drawers and finally under the bed. “Here they are. I must have dropped them there and forgot all about it.” When Deva looked up, Sage had fallen asleep. “Noooo!” Deva yelled and stomped her feet and turned the lights off. After Deva chose to lie on top of him, it was not long before her snoring began.

Sage opened his eyes to look at her. He began thinking; I knew that you were tired. You were fighting it. Oh, how I love to watch you as you sleep. Deva starts to drool. He smiles. Your head is resting on my arm as if it was formed exclusively for you my queen. I will protect you with my life and my death. I also know that God favors us.

Sage whispers as Deva snores. “God, I thank you for everything that I have and everything I do not. I’m aware of the unknown’s evil existence and I need moments like these to handle them appropriately.” He falls off to sleep.

Sage woke up close to 6 in the morning and thought to himself, I have to make sure my lady is extremely comfortable before my quest continues. He took a shower, applied lotion to his body and went downstairs to prepare Deva’s breakfast. He wore nothing but an apron that tied around his solid waist as he prepared her meal.

It wasn’t long before the scent of the rolls had awakened Deva. She walked into the bathro
om, took a shower and put on her robe before walking down the stairs. Heading towards the kitchen Deva noticed that he wasn’t wearing any clothes and just an apron. Deva stopped, leaned against the archway wall between the dining room and kitchen to stare at his backside. Sage turned around.

“Good morning, I didn’t know you were awake.”

Deva said, “No baby. Turn back around.” He turns around.

“If I could somehow reproduce and patent you, I’d be the richest person on earth. Each woman on earth whether single or married, would have one or maybe two of you. No one can tell me I’m not the luckiest wife on this planet.” While giggling, Deva grabs his butt. “I don’t want what’s on that tray. I want what’s underneath that apron.”

“Well you are going to need what’s on this tray to handle what’s underneath this apron. Now, do you want me to feed it to you here in the kitchen, the dining room, or the bedroom?” Deva reaches for the apron.

“I want it right here in the kitchen.”

“I’m talking about the food I cooked for you, Deva!”

“Oh, I guess you can feed it to me in the dining area. You are such a tease.” Sage smiles as he follows her while carrying the tray. He sat the tray down and pulled the dining room chair out for her. Deva sat down as he began to feed her.

  “How does it taste?”

“Umm. Delicious.” Deva moves his apron and begins to fondle him. He grins. “You like? Oh, never mind. I feel the rising answer to that question.”

“Is that what you want right now?”

“No. I’ll just sit here and let you feed me.”

“You’re such a tease.” Deva smiles and did a gesture with her tongue as he puts the fork gently into her mouth.

“I’ve had enough food. Now I want this.”

“Okay, let me put the tray in the kitchen.” He takes the tray into the kitchen and when he walks back to the dining area, Deva was laying on the table with her legs open.
