“My father would not care.”
“Your father is the owner of this hotel?”
“He sure is!”
“That explains the liberal dress code.”
“The libi what?”
“Miss, if your hotel is that hard up for money, then here.”
He hands her another one hundred dollar bill.
“And keep the change. May I have my new room key please? I’m very tired.”
The woman hands him the key and his money.
“The money for the upgrade is not needed. I’ll just charge you at the regular rate. I’m sorry.”
“I’ll forget about it if you will? Deal?”
“Deal. Say, do you have a little time for some company this evening? I am rather lonely.”
“I’m sorry but I can’t do that.”
“You don’t find me attractive?”
He holds up his hand to show his wedding band and says, “On the contrary, you are very beautiful. It’s just that I’m very dedicated to my wife.”
“Now Mr. Mican….”
Sage interrupts and says, “That’s Mecan.”
“Okay Mr. Mecan…there is no way your wife would find out unless you tell her.”
The woman lifts one side of her shirt for him to see while walking around the counter.
“True, but I would also destroy something more valuable than my life.”
“What would that be?”
“My wife’s life.”
“Are all the men in Philadelphia like you?”
“In what way are you talking?”
“I mean like, devoted to their wives?”
“I don’t have an accurate answer to that question. I strongly would like to believe that they are. But I also have enough general logic to know that the earth’s fruit is sweet, convincing, and very seducing to the eye. It is the valued soul that has to control the conscience thinker alone and not the eye.”
“You sure talk funny. Your eyes look so different. It looks spooky but also sexy.”
“That’s because they are different. But let me ask you something, you came on to me after I told you that I was married. What was it that made you do that, your eyes or your soul?”
The woman thinks for a moment and says in a sorrowful tone,
“My soul.”
“Why?”
“Because I don’t care for myself too much anymore.”
The woman looks down at the floor and wraps her arms around herself and starts to rub her arms. Sage understood that a person that is troubled will always pour out their innermost feelings or desires to a stranger instead of sharing how they feel to a best friend or relative.
He says, “You are very beautiful and attractive, and have a keen sense of awareness about yourself. You start there. I am a man telling you this because, as a man that recognizes a good woman when he meets one, can tell you that you have absolutely no reason to feel that way about yourself.”
He looks around and then grabs her by the hand and guides her to a mirror in the reception area. He faces her towards it as he stands beside her.
“I want you to stare into that mirror and remember my words. You are a woman. The ultimate gift to life, earth, and man.”
He takes her hand and places it over her stomach.
“You are the greatest creation to life because you have a womb that contains triple darkness which is the most relevant to the existence of God. Light never shines there, nor is it needed to create life. The life that works from within evolves and finds ways to keep this earth healthy. I, as a man, need you to keep me balanced when I am lopsided, focused when I am daydreaming, and you to remind me that we are equal in each and everything we do. Without you, there can never be me.”
Sage wrote down a list of books and authors and handed it to her.
“Please take the time to get and understand these books. It will serve as a guide for you to develop a sense of awareness of who you are and the importance of your being here on this planet. Oh, by the way. What is your name?”
“Bianca.”
“Bianca, My wife’s contact number is on here also. You can call her anytime during the day. The evening is my time.” They smile.
“When can I meet that friend of yours? Bianca asked.
Sage laughs. “One day if you want to come to Philadelphia. On second thought maybe he can come down here and visit? You certainly have enough rooms for the two of you.”
“Well, I guess we will have to wait for a while before I meet him.”
“I wisely suggest that.”
Bianca hugs him and says, “Thank you for talking to me. You’ve said more to me than any man in my life, including my father, that has never said anything to me to make me feel so different inside. As if I….”
“Matter?”
“Yes, matter.”
“Then it was meant for us to meet tonight, because after you placed that bug spray on top of the counter, I was about to go sleep in my car for the night.” They laughed as Sage told her good night, grabbed his bags and went to his room.
Sage opened his hotel room door and slowly peeked in to see if there were any bugs on the floor or flying around in the room. It was too dark to tell so once he was inside and turned on the lights, he quickly turned around to see if there were any bugs crawling on the floor. He walked into the bathroom and checked there also but the room was completely bug-free. He breathed a sigh of relief as he changed into his sweats, drew back the covers for a final inspection, and hurriedly jumped into the bed. He began thinking about the woman he had to see tomorrow. I have to see a mayor of this town. I’m not sure if her political position is the current Mayor or not. How in the world did he pull this one off? The mayor is married, so a political scandal had to come out of this. Knowing Perry, he found a perfect way to slither his way in and out.
ϕ
Sage drifted off to sleep. His dream takes him to a house in which he is standing inside the living room. Sage says, “This ranch home is nice.”
A young woman in her mid-twenties, enters the room from the kitchen. She yelled, “Perry, I’m running into town to pick up a few things. I should be back in about half an hour to forty-five minutes. Do you want or need anything?”
“No, I’m fine. Thanks.”
“Wow! This woman is flawless!”
Sage stares at her face. “No make-up! No weave! I have to see if there is a wedding ring on.” He looked closer and noticed that there was no ring or even a tan line in place of one.
“He must be wearing a condom for her. Either that, or her husband does not care if this woman chooses to wear it or not.” Sage comments.
Perry walks out from a room with just a towel wrapped around his waist. “Listen, I need directions to the closest auto parts store. I have to pick up some parts for my car. I’m about to take my shower so by the time you get back, I’ll be ready.”
“Okay.”
The woman grabs her keys and pocket book from a nearby chair and walks out of the house. Sage followed Perry as he walked through the kitchen area into the enclosed garage where his Porsche was parked. He pulled out his cell phone that was attached to his car charger, walked back inside, and into the living room. He turned on the stereo and began dancing. After a few moments, he walked into the bathroom and turned the bathtub faucets on. He removed his towel and draped it over the shower door.
“I certainly do not want to look at you like this.” Sage comments as he turns his back to him. Perry lifted the toilet seat and began relieving himself.
“And I definitely do not want to hear that.” He says as he steps away from the bathroom area.
All of a sudden, the front door opens and a different woman rushes inside and closes the door behind her.
This woman was on her cell phone saying, “I had to stop at my daughter’s place to get something and I will be right there!”
The woman hangs up her phone and walks into the bathroom where Perry was still standing in front of the toil
et and gave out a loud yelp. Perry jumped a little but not to the point where he missed the toilet. He looked at the bathroom door and realized that he could not reach it to shut and he tried to reach for his towel, but that was too far also. He looked back towards the hallway to find the woman still standing there and watching him.
“I guess I can’t get any privacy, can I?”
“Not with a body like that! You must be the gentleman my daughter Gabby told me about.”
Embarrassed by the fact that it was the Gabby’s mother, Perry shook himself off, flushed the toilet, grabbed the towel, covered himself and began apologizing repetitively.
“I am so sorry. I am so sorry. Please accept my apology. This is so awkward. I should have closed this damn door.”
“You came to do the photo session for my daughter, am I correct?”
“Yes ma’am I did.”
“Please, you make me feel so old. Call me Heather. Well is it over?”
“Yes, it was over late last night. That’s why I’m here. I was extremely tired and your sister, pardon me, your daughter offered to let me stay at her place since it ended much later than planned.”
Heather walks up to him. Heather looks just like her daughter except a fifty-five year old version. Heather has gray eyes and short stylish hair. “I’m going to ask you a straight question and I want a straight answer. Did you sleep with my daughter?”
“No ma’am!”
“Oh! My daughter is not good enough for you?”
“Your daughter gives beauty another meaning.”
“Gabby sure does.” Sage commented.
“Then what’s the problem?” Heather asked.
“Your daughter is still a virgin.”
“So you did try to sleep with her.”
“No, it, it, it….”
“It, it, it, hell! What’s with the stuttering? Do I have to slap you with a wet cloth? Answer me young man!”
“It came up with the conversations that were discussed last night with a few of her friends and I happened to overhear the discussion.”
Heather snatched his towel. Perry looked down to see if Heather was wearing a ring. It was a square diamond that had to be over four carats. It was so huge that it appeared to look like costume jewelry.
He calmed down, turned off the water in the bathtub and said, “That sure is a lot of love on that finger. Are you sure this is what you want to risk it for?”
“I’m the mayor around here in this town. I do as I please.” Heather got down on her knees, grabs his nature and asked, “Now what do you think?”
“I guess it really doesn’t matter what I think.”
“Good.” Heather began to please him for a few moments.
“I want you to give me this right now. We don’t have time, but I’m fitting this in. Think you can handle the task?”
“Heather sure is a bossy one,” said Sage.
“This is usually not my style, but for you I can make an exception.”
Perry carried Heather into the bedroom where he had slept from the previous evening and removed her clothes and neatly placed them on the floor to avoid wrinkles. Heather flopped onto the bed and he was right on top of her humping like a madman. Heather said, “I wish I could have this before every meeting with my staff. Whoa! Beat it up baby! Beat it up!”
It was not long before Gabby returned home and noticed her mother’s car parked outside. Since there was not enough room for her vehicle, Gabby parked behind her home. Entering through the back of the house, Gabby could hear thumping sounds against her wall. Walking into the living room, Gabby was about to call out her mother’s name when she heard yelling sounds over the music that was playing from the radio. Slowly walking down the hallway up to the doorway of the bedroom Gabby saw Perry with his back to her while on top of her mother. Her eyes widened in shock. Her mother looked up at her with a pleasurable pained smile, wrapping her arms forcefully around Perry burying her face between his neck and shoulder.
Sage followed Gabby who was running into the kitchen, picked up her phone and called her girlfriend.
“Hello?”
Gabby responds in a shaky voice, “Hi Angela it’s me.”
“Gab?”
“Yeah.”
“Girl, are you okay?”
“I need to talk to you.”
“Sure girl. What’s the problem?”
“I need to talk to you in person.”
“Well okay. I have to meet Perry later. We’re going to the amusement park for a little while, then I have to go to work. Do you want to come by the station?
Sage hears as Gabby pauses and thinks to herself, if I tell Angela at her job, it will kill her and I can’t tell Angela something like this over the phone.
Gabby says, “No, but could you come by my house once you get off from your shift at the station?”
“Sure Gabby. As soon as I get off, I will be right over. But are you sure you will be okay?”
Gabby sniffles and wipes her eyes and nose with a tissue. “Yes.”
“Well call me if you feel as though things could get worse. You hear me?”
“Yes.”
There’s a moment of pause. “Gabby, I’m on my way there.”
“No! I will see you later. I have to go now. Bye.”
“Okay, bye Gabby.”
Gabby disconnected the call before Angela could mention another word. Meanwhile, Perry heard a noise coming from outside the room, jumped up and said to her mother, “You have to get dressed. We can’t get caught by your daughter.”
Heather smiles and asks, “Will I see you later on this evening?”
“I doubt it.”
“Don’t act as if you didn’t enjoy it. I felt your satisfied moment.”
“I know you did. That was enough for you to get just what you asked for. Just keep this between you and me.”
Heather picked up his phone book and put her contact number in it. Perry walked into the bathroom, closed the door, turned on the shower water, and began to wash.
After Heather dressed, Gabby walked up to her and with a humiliated expression upon her face said,
“I can’t believe you would stoop so low to have sex with him in my home. How could you be so disrespectful to me, to dad, and yourself? You don’t even know him.”
“That is a fine specimen of a man. Girl I could not resist! Besides, he’s a weak and submissive man. If he didn’t want to, he could have pushed me away but he didn’t. You didn’t stop us either.
Heather smirks.
“I think you enjoyed watching it…just as much as we enjoyed doing it…since you haven’t let anyone put their loins among your virgin body.”
Heather reaches to touch her leg but Gabby swats her hand away. “Mother, you are not making any sense. Why are you talking to me this way? Are you drunk this early in the morning? I’m your daughter and you are treating me as if what you did was supposed to be discreet, and I’m wrong for catching you. You know that’s someone’s man!”
“Then that someone should have a shorter leash on him.”
“Or kept you locked tight in a kennel!”
“Oooh, what a sharp little virgin tongue you have.” Heather flicks Gabby’s chin with her finger. “I have a meeting to attend. Smooches!”
Heather walked out of the house, got into her car and drove off. Sage stood there amazed at what he was seeing. Perry came out of the bedroom completely dressed. His cologne lit up every room he entered. He looks at her and sees the discernment in her eyes while staring at him.
“You’re looking at me as if you want to instantly dissolve me into dust.”
“I believe a person should suffer rather than a quick demise. I don’t know where to begin with your trivial ass.”
“I don’t know why you are getting on me. We are consenting adults.”
“You know, I am sick and tired of hearing that bull about the consenting adult act. Do you know in other countries, acts like this can get you years in prison, if not wo
rse? You had sex with my mother! In my house! You are so disrespectful! What about Angela?”
“Angela’s married.”
“Angela is my best friend and married to a man who is paralyzed. The whole situation is ugly when you think about it. The point is that Angela’s in love with you…just as much, if not more than her husband. And this is how you treat her? Angela has complete respect for you and it shows in her actions towards your disgusting ass! You are horrible!” Perry walks toward Gabby.
“Don’t even think about touching or even coming near me! For all I know, you could be a walking parasite.”
“DING! DING! DING!” Sage hollered.
“If you don’t tell her what you did, I will. Tonight. Now get the rest of your belongings and get out!”
He grabs his things and walks to his car. Gabby walks behind him. Perry’s cell phone rings. It’s Angela.
“Hi Angela.”
“Hi Perry, how are you?”
“I’m fine. I’m on my way to the carnival. Where are you?” He looks at Gabby who has an exasperated look upon her face.
“I’m talking to the nurse who just arrived so I will be leaving here in five minutes.”
“I’ll see you there.”
“Okay baby bye.” They end the call.
Gabby says, “I will tell Angela if you don’t.” Gabby opens the garage door for Perry as he pulls out. He rolls down the window and says, “Gabby, For what it’s worth I am truly…”
“Good bye Perry!”
Sage had awakened from his dream. He sat up in the bed and began to piece together the connection between Perry, Angela, Heather and Gabby. I can easily get this confused if I don’t get this right. He thought to himself.
Sage showered, dressed and stopped by the breakfast buffet, which was only muffins and orange juice to choose from. Before leaving, Sage was able to receive directions to the Mayor’s office from a hotel staff member. The information that he had of Mayor Soles, was a telephone number that was no longer in service. Once he arrived, there was construction equipment located around the building for renovation purposes. He parked his car inside a vacant lot next to the building. Once out of his car, Sage entered the building through a side entrance. He noticed two women looking down at papers on a desk that were in front of them. There was a room out of his view where a woman had also noticed him. When he entered she gasped at a man that was sitting next to her.
