Hex Over Heels: A Witch Cozy Mystery (Fairy Falls Mystery Book 2)

“Yeah, right,” Katelyn replied. It was hard to take her seriously when a glob of red paint dropped down her face.
“Look!” someone else called out. I turned to see the witch who said it pointing towards the sky and followed her finger.
A glittery message shone in the sky where the balloon had been. The text was red, the same shade as the paint, and sparkled in the sun.
Rosie Everwood sends her regards.
Didn’t Ali say her grandmother’s name was Rosie?
“Who in the name of Venus is Rosie Everwood? We’ll get her for this,” Katelyn shouted, pulling out her wand and casting a spell at the building. From the words she shouted, she was obviously trying to get rid of the paint, but when she finished the spell, the paint stayed in place. Instead, a smiling face appeared in the paint on the roof, like a cartoon. The paint face looked like the weirdest Pokémon ever. I had to take a picture for Scarlett.
The cartoon face blinked once or twice then smiled, stuck out its tongue, and blew a raspberry at Katelyn.
I couldn’t help but laugh, and I wasn’t the only one. Katelyn, for her part, was practically in tears she was so angry.
“Who did this? Who would do something like this?” she shouted.
“Sounds like Rosie Everwood did it,” a wizard called out from behind her, earning chuckles from the crowd.
“Whatever,” Katelyn shouted. “I’ll make her pay, whoever she is.”
She rushed back into the store, and I took a few pictures with my phone. I was going to have to share these with Scarlett.
I also took a moment to send one in a message to Ali, making sure to include the message.
Moments later, I got a reply. I told my Grandma about how mean the family was to a brand new witch. I guess she wasn’t too pleased.
I smiled. I was going to have to meet Grandma Rosie. She sounded like a hoot.
So my first few days in the paranormal world hadn’t gone exactly as planned. I’d ended up embroiled in the middle of another murder investigation, but overall, life was good. I’d made some friends, I had a supportive family that loved me for the first time in my life, and while it hadn’t been the easiest transition, I knew it was the right one.
I couldn’t wait to see what the future brought next.
