This wasn’t the childish playboy I had begun to like. His behaviour likened more to a blood-thirsty animal, clawing at its prey; mocking its fate. Both Danny and Justin came to the scene and began pulling Aaron away from Elliot yet he still wouldn’t move.

Geez, where’s a crowbar when you need one?

At long last, Danny and Justin had succeeded in prying them apart and the three of us stood between them. However, Aaron was far from done. He lunged towards Elliot like a man possessed , but was quickly caught by Justin.

“I’m gonna kill him! I’m gonna fucking kill him!” Aaron shouted yet his voice seemed both foreign and unfamiliar. Dark and hoarse, his voice sounded as if it brought more pain than a whip, resonating across the crowded hallways as he shouted at the top of his lungs.

Justin pulled him slightly away from Elliot who had just begun to lift himself off the floor. His nose was bruised from the bridge, looking like it had been punched one too many times and his teeth were smeared in red as he sneered towards Aaron. He stood up straight, spitting on the floor beside him and wiped the sheen of sweat from his forehead. He, too, looked at Aaron with hatred and I wondered what had happened to start this fight.

Justin interrupted my thoughts by shoving Aaron near me.

“Take him away from here. The principal will definitely be here any minute now and Aaron cannot be suspended again. He’ll be gone for good this time.” He said and, with that, he made his way to the crowd and ushered them all away.

I turned away from him and turned my attention to Aaron. In an attempt to keep him out of trouble, I grabbed his arm and dragged him away from the crowd. Although slightly reluctant, Aaron was calmer now and he followed, breathing heavily. I stopped a little while later when I saw an empty classroom and I shoved us both in there.

Once in there, I turned to Aaron with folded arms and a solemn expression.

“What exactly was that?” I spoke out in a steady tone, ignoring the butterflies I felt when Aaron met my eyes. The fire in his gaze- unextinguished- and he paced crazily around the room.

“He deserved it. You should have seen all the fucking disgusting things he was saying about you.” His voice was full of venom and unease. He paced even faster, dragging a hair roughly through his hair.

I sighed, making sure to speak calmly.

  “What did he sa-”

Before I could finish my question, I was interrupted by the loud bang that resonated through the room as a result of Aaron throwing a desk at the chalkboard. I stepped back in shock, feeling the door hit me from behind.

Aaron turned to me- his hair messy and his breathing erratic.

“Talking about how defiling you was going to be easier than he thought.” He forced out; his voice laced with rage. His eyes were closed at this point and his hands clenched in tight fists.

I sighed yet again. I was too tired for Aaron’s antics and his lies. I went towards him.

“Aaron, calm down.” I said gently, trying so hard not to anger him yet the beast within him was already awake and it was going to put up a hell of a fight before being tamed.

Aaron stalked closer and I fluttered at the warmth I could feel emanating from his body. I cursed at how easily my weak body relented to the silly urges my heart couldn’t stop but feel.

“How can you be so calm knowing what he said about you?” Aaron said lowly at me, his tone lethal. I breathed in his smell, sensing its familiarity. In a short amount of time, Aaron had become all I was accustomed to.

  And it had to stop.

I shoved Aaron harshly away from me.

“Because him saying it doesn’t make it so! I don’t need you handling my matters! I think I’ll be able to keep away from Elliot if I wished to!” I said, letting out some of the suppressed anger I felt from yesterday.

Aaron scoffed indignantly at my response.

“Yeah, I’m sure you’ll control yourself.” He said yet the sarcastic tone to it was clear as glass.

I gasped loudly, my mouth hanging wide open.

“What are you trying to say, Aaron? That I’m just a slut who merely succumbs to her stupid urges?” I asked accusingly.

Aaron rolled his eyes- an action I believe he stole off of me.

“Oh, don’t act so innocent. You seemed so eager to agree to being my ‘girlfriend’. Why was that?” He retorted, a malicious look on his face. He was no longer the childish playboy yet I couldn’t complain. I didn’t feel quite like myself right now either.

“I had my reasons to agree so quickly!” I shot back defensively. I moved closer to his looming figure. I wasn’t scared of him and I never would be.

Aaron laughed spitefully; his hands flailing exaggeratively.

“Yeah and what reasons were they?” He asked, raising a dark eyebrow.

“Because!” I shouted back, dismissing the fact that we were still in school and it was against school code to raise my voice like this.

Aaron laughed yet again, moving closer to my body.

  “Because what!” He asked.

  I screamed loudly in frustration.

“Because I wanted to help you, you jerk!” I lied, concealing the real reason. I moved closer to Aaron and continued.

“And, besides, I can control myself very fine, thank you!’” I completed, my own breathing becoming erratic.

Aaron smiled. It wasn’t genuine though- that part was obvious.

“Yeah. You seemed to be able to control yourself well enough last night.” He mocked in the same sarcastic tone he had used before.

My eyes clenched shut at this. I somehow knew that the events of last night would be brought out to the open in this fight.

“That was a mistake. It won’t happen again, I assure you.” I promised in a quiet voice.

Aaron’s look of anger crumbled for a fraction of a second into a look of something I couldn’t comprehend, but- not a moment later- he recomposed himself and the fire was back in his eyes.

“Regardless, I don’t want you anywhere near him.” He said in a firm voice.

My eyes widened, wondering if I had heard him right or if he was telling a joke, but the look on his face confirmed it- he wasn’t joking around. He was deadly serious.

“You can’t tell me what to do! I can go near Elliot if I want! And, I don’t need your permission!” I shouted out, exercising my rights as an individual.

Once again, he loomed over me- his lips dangerously close.

“Don’t say his name like that, Lexi. You don’t know how it makes me feel.” He murmured harshly; his eyes looking straight into mine.

I rolled my eyes and opened my mouth to speak, but Aaron held up a finger to my lips.

“You cannot touch him because I won’t let you.” He said simply- his eyes trained on me and me only.

My eyebrows raised at this and I leaned forward.

“And if I do touch him?” I challenged, trying not to look scared at the threatening look he was giving me.

Aaron pulled my body into his and I gasped at the intimate contact.

“Don’t test me, Lexi.” He forced out, looking down at the ground with his hair shielding his beautiful face.

I tilted his face up with a finger and looked into his eyes.

“Well, consider yourself already tested, Aaron.” I said simply.

Aaron’s eyebrow raised in confusion and he didn’t talk, waiting for me to clarify. I smirked at him.

“Avalon.” Aaron moaned into my neck

’Elliot and I have already kissed.”

  11- The Great Deception

"Me and Elliot have already kissed."

  ****************

  Silence.

The whole room was silent, but it wasn't your typical type of silence. No, this was different. As Aaron and I stood staring at each other, no words were spoken yet I could feel the anger pulsating off him in waves and to say I'd rather be in the darkest corners of hell would be an understatement. However, I wasn't going to back down, especially to someone
who constantly thinks they can control my every act.

Aaron's dark eyes were fixated on my face for what seemed like forever. He didn't blink and he didn't look away. His breathing was dangerously heavy as he stared down at me, making it blatantly obvious he was trying to control himself from doing something. From what, I'm not sure.

After a long while, Aaron broke the silence- his words firm and unwavering.

"You'd better hope I heard you wrong." He said darkly, looming closer to my figure. I gasped audibly, staring up at him. Although feeling petrified, I couldn't help but feel angry at his controlling words. Since when had he attained the right to order me around?

I lifted my chin up, folding my arms together.

"Well, just in case you did hear incorrectly, I'll repeat it for you. Elliot and I have already k-"

Before I could complete my sentence, I was pushed against the door again. Aaron's hands were on my shoulders and he looked down at me- a murderous glint in his eyes.

"Don't toy around with me, Lexi. You should know that jokes like that don't humour me." He warned in a cold tone.

I laughed at this, before smirking at Aaron.

"Do I look like a comedian? I don't joke around and nor will I ever." I said to Aaron. I folded my arms across my chest; a smug look on my face. Suddenly, the grip of Aaron's hands on my shoulders tightened. I hissed at the pain, looking up at Aaron to only find him looking straight ahead with a monotone expression on his face. I tried to push him off, but to no avail. He was too strong for me.

"Let go! Aaron, let go!" I exclaimed, trying to push him off. Aaron's gaze was still fixated straight ahead as he ignored my pleas.

"You shouldn't have done that." Aaron spoke, referring to the kiss. His voice was as monotone as his facial expression, so I couldn't tell exactly how he was feeling.

I continued trying to push him away even though I was failing miserably.

"Why? Why shouldn't I have done that, Aaron?! Give me one good reason." I said steadily, pushing at his chest. My breathing was already heavy from trying to push him away, but even more so from the load of emotions I was feeling.

At long last, Aaron removed his hands from my shoulders and moved back- a look of raw anger on his face. His eyes were dark; his hair dishevelled and every now and then his jaw would tick.

"Because I.." He said, but then stopped, running a hand through his hair in an evident display of agitation. He looked down for a second before looking back at my face and repeated this again and again.

I ran my hand through my hair in a similar manner.

"Because what, Aaron?!" I shouted at the top of my lungs. My throat hurt as I did this and my voice sounded raw, but I didn't care. It was nice to finally let something out.

Aaron looked up at me, a hand still still in his hair.

"Because I am your boyfriend and I don't have to give any further explanation than that." He finalised in an authoritative tone.

I gasped loudly again, moving closer to him.

"Fake boyfriend, Aaron which means you can't control me." I said, putting emphasis on the word 'fake'. Aaron opened his mouth to speak, but I held up a hand to cut him off.

"And even if we were so called 'boyfriend and girlfriend' then you haven't been completely faithful either, have you, oh dear boyfriend?" I continued in a condescending tone, folding my arms. Aaron's anger dissipated at this and his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

"Last night." I said simply, looking up at him with hard eyes. Aaron's confusion didn't go upon hearing this and his eyebrows furrowed even more.

I rolled my eyes at this, tutting loudly.

"You didn't moan my name. You moaned hers. You moaned... Avalon." I said, cursing when the hurt was so evident in my voice. I tried to keep a straight face when I told him, but I could feel the tears springing to my eyes.

Aaron's facial expression was nothing less of shock. He stood there dumbfounded. He didn't speak and it didn't seem like he was going to anytime soon, so I chose to break the icy silence.

"Oh, so you thought I didn't notice, huh?" I said coldly, a smirk on my face yet I was breaking down from the inside because a little part of me hoped I was wrong. A part of me hoped that I had just heard her name last night due to my sheer paranoia and that he had actually said my name. This wasn't the case, though. Upon seeing the shocked look on his face, I knew that I had heard right and it tore me apart.

"How do you know about her?" He questioned quietly and now it was him who was being torn apart.

The look on his face took the wind out of me for a moment. He looked pained yet at the same time so dull. He clenched his eyes shut as if hoping it was just a big nightmare yet I knew it wasn't and he would just have to open his eyes to reality.

I scoffed, flicking my hair off my shoulder.

"I don't just know who she is. I know what happened too. I know everything there is to know about her." I said- the disgust evident in my voice as I said 'her'.

Aaron opened his eyes suddenly, moving closer to me.

"Don't talk about her in that tone." He warned, breathing heavily.

At this, my anger rose to unmentionable levels. Jealousy, envy, anger, sadness, hatred- I don't know which one it was. It was possibly all of them, but they took control of my body and I couldn't help the tear that rolled down my cheek. I could feel the coolness of it as it seared down the hot surface of my cheek. Aaron's anger faltered at this and he moved closer, but I didn't want him near me anymore. I was too sick of him. I moved back harshly, my back hitting the door.

"So much love." I muttered more to myself than anyone else, but he still heard it and he looked at me. He tried to move closer again, a look of sadness on his face, but I pushed him away.

"If she loved you as much as you love her, she would still be here, begging on her knees for forgiveness for what she did. She would still be here, trying to win you back, but she's not and you need to consider that." I said honestly, wiping the tear of my cheek. I couldn't help but advise him. He needed to know that he deserved better.

Aaron turned his head away from me and looked to the windows. He was less angrier now.

"She doesn't have to be begging on her knees for forgiveness. It wasn't her fault." He spoke, trying to assure me, but it sounded as if he was trying to reassure himself more.

I scoffed yet again, leaning back.

"It wasn't? Then who's fault was it, may I ask?" I retorted, looking at my nails. A long silence passed before Aaron answered.

"Him. It was all his fault." He said, his voice soaked in nothing but contempt. I sighed in agitation because Aaron didn't understand. Sure, she was drunk, but if she really did love Aaron she would have still been asking for Aaron back. She wouldn't have stopped thinking about him just like he didn't with her.

Hasn't he heard the saying 'It takes two to tango?'

"Let it go, Aaron. It was in the past." I suggested, putting my hair behind my ear, but Aaron shook his head to this. He still looked angry and, beyond all, worried.

Suddenly, Aaron's facial expression turned to a dark one and he looked up at me, moving closer.

"You think he's such a saint, huh? Well, he's just as much at fault as she is, so lets see how good he sounds when you know the real him." He spoke, a pained look on his face.

My eyebrows furrowed at his words. I looked at him, flabbergasted.

  "He? What are you talki-"

Aaron interrupted me, before I could finish.

"Elliot. That's the 'he' I'm referring to. You make him sound like such a saint, but I bet you didn't know he was the one to sleep with her. With Avalon." He said, straining out the last sentence. He sounded exhausted. He sounded broken. He sounded defeated.

But I wasn't done with him yet.

I thought back to my meetings with Elliot.

"Well, I thought you looked pretty at the door, but seeing you up close its... Wow. You're even prettier."

"I don't know how to dance. I just know how to treat the ladies"
r />   "Because I would hate for you not to like me"

I shook my head vigorously. The Elliot I knew wouldn't be able to do such a deed. It wasn't in his nature to do so. I was about to reply back to Aaron with just that until I though of a certain memory.

Elliot smiled shyly, making dimples form in his cheeks.

"That's nice of you to say, but I haven't had many girlfriends. I've only had one and I caught her sleeping with another guy."

Then all the pieces started coming together.

I looked at Aaron to see him staring at me curiously. He was awaiting my response and who was I to disobey that wish?

"I understand now." I said, a thoughtful look on my face as I looked at Aaron. Aaron sighed in relief at this, coming closer.

"You do?" He said, putting a hand on my shoulder. I nodded before pushing his hand off my shoulder to which Aaron gazed at me questioningly.

I looked at Aaron directly as I spoke.

"You lied to me.This whole tragic sap story about how Avalon cheated on you with Elliot is a lie. That never really happened, did it?" I asked rhetorically yet Aaron still opened his mouth to protest. However, my rant was far from done and I interrupted him before he could speak.

"It was actually you, wasn't it? You were the one that slept with his girlfriend. That's why you don't want anything bad said about her or you don't need her forgiveness. It's because you both were on the same side, conspiring against Elliot. That's why he left, not afraid because he was going to get beaten up again, but out of despair and that's why you don't want me near him. It's because you're paranoid that he's going to take revenge on you for the Avalon incident and sleep with me and you can't bear that happening." I said, pointing a finger at him accusingly. I gave him the harshest glare I could muster but Aaron didn't seem to notice that.

He seemed completely struck by my words. The look of shock on his face could put a nun in a night club to shame. His hair was matted down to his forehead now and his mouth hung slightly open. He seemed speechless and it made me smile. How dare he try blindside me?
