“There’s the sappy Suzie I love so much,” Mark said, wrapping his arm around her neck and pulling her into him. He placed a kiss on her forehead and then tilted her chin up to kiss her lips softly. Everyone around the table “awed” at their public display of affection.
“Let’s toast,” John said, raising his glass of whiskey. Everyone around the table clasped their glasses and raised them toward the center of the table, including Tessa with her glass of water.
“To happy times,” Elizabeth started. “To new beginnings.”
“To good friends,” Suzie said, smiling at everyone. Her heart was bursting with all sorts of emotions, being surrounded by two solid couples while she built her own relationship with an amazing man. She hadn’t been this happy…ever.
