Twisted Up in You
Page 22
The wedding march sounds, and I loop my arm in Jasper’s while holding tight to baby Mikayla, and we start down the aisle. I smile up at my soon to be husband, and he smiles right back at me. I hope I’m making the right choice by doing this.
I’m still scared, mainly because he still works at the club as a bouncer. I know women throw themselves at him, but I need to put some trust and faith in him that he won’t step out on me.
Just as we’re about to say ‘I do’, the church doors burst open and about four very large men storm in. One looks scary as hell. Looking closer, I realize he’s the man that is said to be my father. Oh my God. His hair is pulled back into a man bun, and for an old dude, he doesn’t look too bad like that. His hands and neck are covered in tattoos, and his beard is even longer than Angel’s is.
Jasper, Mason, Trevor, and Vinny instantly stand up, as if guarding me.
“You didn’t think to tell me I had a daughter?” the man says, glaring at Jasper. He looks to me quickly, eyes settling on my daughter. “A granddaughter?”
“How’d you find out?” Jasper answers back.
The man looks to me, and his face softens slightly. “Who do you think? I finally get my wife back, and not only am I just finding out that I have had a daughter who is twenty-two years old, but my brother, who not only is alive, but got my wife pregnant and is living with your pussy club!” he roars.
“Hangman, watch yourself,” Mason growls, stepping ahead.
I look to Trevor, and his face pales slightly.
“She doesn’t want me. She begs me every day, every fucking day, to send her back to you, to sign the divorce papers. Well, she got her wish. I’m giving her the fuck up, but not before I go a few rounds with my dead fucking brother!” he roars again.
“This isn’t the time or place for this,” Jasper declares, throwing his hands out.
“No, it’s the perfect fucking time.” Just then, a woman steps forward from behind Hangman’s men, and she glares at Dray. She is stunning, tall, and looks like the perfect black woman, all ass and tits.
Dray’s entire body stills, and his face pales—which is kind of weird, because I didn’t realize black men could pale.
“You son of a bitch, what do you think you are doing, huh?” she shouts at Dray.
The crowd murmurs. I’m confused. I look to the man that is my father, and he’s glaring at Dray as well.
“Shayla…” Dray starts.
I interrupt, wanting to figure out what the hell is going on. “Um, I’m sorry, but who are you?” I ask her.
For a moment, I feel as if she’s going to go all exorcist on my ass.
“Who am I? Well, this is great. Now, I actually feel bad for you,” she says, her eyes softening slightly before turning hard and angry when she looks back to Dray. “I’m his wife.”
With that, the whole world feels as if it stops. “Wife?” I whisper out in shock.
“I never signed his stupid ass papers, so he probably didn’t realize we’re still married. I told him before what my conditions were. He visits his children, talks to them, then and only then would I let him be free,” she says, tears forming in her eyes. You can obviously tell she still very much loves Dray.
I feel as if I’ve been punched in the gut. He’s married and has children.
“This isn’t how I wanted to meet my daughter for the first time, but when I found out about the fuck head she was marrying, I had him looked into,” Hangman says.
I look to my sister, who is rushing to me, taking Mikayla out of my arms quickly who is babbling on about mama and dada.
Dray’s wife, Shayla, looks back to me, her eyes again softening, and then her eyes finally rest on my daughter. “You had his child?” she whispers, a hand going to her throat.
I nod as tears that were forming in my eyes leak out, and with that, I run down the aisle and out of the church, all while Dray is calling out for me to stop. I never should have trusted him, ever. How could he do this?
I hear Hangman yelling at Dray, “You hurt my kid, you mother fucker. Why shouldn’t I hurt you?”
“Melissa!” I hear Cori’s voice.
I stop and look back at her, tears streaming down my face. “It’s okay, sweetie. We’ll get you through this. I promise.”
“We need to leave. It’s going to be a blood bath in there,” Blake says, jogging to us, taking Mikayla from Cori. “Angel’s men are flanked around Trevor, and Hangman is totally losing his shit right now. Seems he’s not sure who to go after first, Dray or Trevor, and that Shayla woman is screeching like a crazy lady at Dray, who is trying to get to you.”
“Let’s go. I never want to see him again,” I croak out.
My mother was always right. I’m nothing. I’ll always be nothing. This is my life—what a fucked up mess. The only good in my life is my daughter. I’ll make damn sure I’m the best mother I can possibly be. For her.
The End
This is not the end, not really. Melissa will have a story. Find out how she manages after the truth about Dray is revealed. Will they find their happily ever after together? Or will someone new come into the picture. And how does her life change, now that it’s come out she is Hangman’s daughter?
Trever, aka T-bags, AND Hangman will have stories as well. Who will get Tori in the end? How will Hangman react when he and his baby brother finally face off after years of thinking he was dead?
Of course, Chelsea, Adam, Clara, Thrane, Blake’s friend Drew, Bryce, and loads more characters will eventually get their own stories. First up next, though, for this year, I have tons of super cheesy cliché romances. And I will eventually get to work on Kellie and Jaxon’s story from Just Love.
Lots of things are going on. I wish I had super powers to knock them all out at once, but I just can’t do that. Just know, I have stories, tons of stories coming for the next few years. Hopefully, my brain doesn’t explode from all the books I’ve started. Ha.
