Twelve pressed her hand gently.
“Donna, please, for everyone here. Thank you, but I don’t matter now. They do.”
“And I have to be the one to make that decision,” She sighed, emotion filling her eyes, “and then I’ll have to remember that I was the one who left you behind.”
“And you were the one to get everyone home.”
Knowing that it was best to end their discussion, he took her hand and shook it.
“Thank you, Donna Noble, for everything.”
“I did nothing. We just met.”
“You did much.”
He nodded to her, walked past the others in the room who looked at him solemnly, repentant, ashamed at their own cowardice, and then Twelve emerged from his TARDIS to face the Daleks.
