Seeing Love: Saints Protection & Investigations
Page 26
“Well, as I live and breathe,” Trudi said, looking Faith up and down.
Faith, nervous under the woman’s scrutiny, smiled as the woman slapped Bart on the arm.
“Looks like the big dog finally settled down,” Trudi cackled. “There’ll be hearts breaking all over the county!”
Having the good graces to blush, Bart pulled Faith into his embrace, pretending to glare at Trudi over Faith’s head.
After throwing her head back in laughter, Trudi gazed fondly at the other men gathered. “Hmm, that makes four of you now hitched.” She waggled her finger around to the others. “And I’ll wager it won’t be long for the rest of you!”
Blaise, Marc, and Luke pretended to be horrified while Monty just shook his head and Chad looked thoughtful. Mitch had joined the celebration of another successful case closed and grinned at seeing his friends squirming.
“And for you, gentlemen, tonight’s beer is on the house!”
The Saints cheered while Chuck grumbled over behind the bar. Faith looked around the old establishment. The well-worn, mismatched bar stools along with the tables were filled tonight and she saw a few women looking over at the Saints speculatively. Suddenly nervous, she bit her bottom lip, wondering how many of them were wanting to be in her place.
“Stop,” came the whispered order at her ear.
Glancing up, she blushed as she saw Bart’s eyes on her.
“I know what you’re thinking,” he admitted, regret in his eyes. “You’re it for me now, princess. Only you. Whatever I was before, is gone. That part of my life is over.” Leaning down, his lips a whisper away from hers, he added, “I only see you. Forever.”
Her lips curved into a smile as her eyes met his.

Later that night, after a fun evening filled with good friends that ended with Bart worshiping her body long into the night, they fell asleep with their legs tangled together in the sheets. In the wee hours, Faith woke, her mind filled with images. Slipping silently into the living room, she sat on the sofa tucking her legs underneath her. Holding her art pad on her lap, she began to draw, the light of the full moon providing the only illumination.
Lines, shapes, curves, shadows. Figures began to emerge. Finally, she held the pad away from her, seeing what she had drawn. It was another drawing of Bart, this time in his back yard. She was there as well. Holding a baby. A toddler played at Bart’s feet. Apollo sat nearby.
Grinning, she closed the pad and moved back to the bedroom. As she slipped under the covers, she found her body pulled in tightly to Bart’s as his arms curved around her, one hand settling on her breast and the other on her hip.
“You okay?” he mumbled into her ear, nuzzling her neck.
Her answer was to snuggle closer into his warmth, her lips curved in a soft smile.
Four Years Later
Faith stepped out onto the back deck, her baby girl fresh from her nap resting in her arms, Smee curled up in a deck chair sleeping in the afternoon sun. She looked out at the commotion coming from the back yard. Apollo was charging around, barking as he jumped after the ball. Bart trotted around the dog, their toddler son on his shoulders. The glee on her son’s face matched the beauty of her husband as he laughed, tossing the ball once more.
Bart’s gaze moved to the deck, seeing Faith and their daughter. He smiled again, this time just for her. He held her eyes for a moment, communicating his love for her as he then looked around. His house. His yard. Their pets. Their children. The woman he loved. I never saw it coming…but this is the image I love.
Walking up to the deck, he swung their son down to the ground before taking Faith into his arms. First kissing the top of his baby girl’s head, he then leaned into a breath away from Faith’s lips. “What do you see for us, princess?”
Smiling, Faith leaned in for a whisper soft kiss. Peering into his eyes, she admitted, “I see forever.”

More About Maryann Jordan
As an Amazon Best Selling Author, I have always been an avid reader. I joke that I “cut my romance teeth” on the historical romance books from the 1970’s. In 2013 I started a blog to showcase wonderful writers. In 2014, I finally gave in to the characters in my head pleading for their story to be told. Thus, Emma’s Home was created.
My first novel, Emma’s Home became an Amazon Best Seller in 3 categories within the first month of publishing. Its success was followed by the rest of the Fairfield Series and then led into the Love’s Series. From there I have continued with the romantic suspense Alvarez Security Series and now the Saints Protection & Investigation Series, all bestsellers.
My books are filled with sweet romance and hot sex; mystery, suspense, real life characters and situations. My heroes are alphas, take charge men who love the strong, independent women they fall in love with.
I worked as a counselor in a high school and have been involved in education for the past 30 years. I recently retired and now can spend more time devoted to my writing.
I have been married to a wonderfully patient man for 34 years and have 2 adult very supportive daughters and 1 grandson.
When writing, my dog or one of my cats will usually be found in my lap!
