  “Organized crime,” Loni blurted out.

“Yes,” the colonel responded and nodded. “General Whitehead wants The SIM team to find all the weapons and get them out of the hands of criminals. We need to head to St. Louis right now.”

“But there might be thousands of weapons out there,” Banyon argued.

“We’re going to be very busy,” the colonel agreed.

“Well team, it looks like our vacation period is over,” Banyon proclaimed. “We’ll get you set up at Dewey & Beatem. What else can we do?”

“I don’t know yet, but can you give us a ride to St. Louis in one of your jets,” Colonel Cole asked.

“Everybody, to the planes,” Banyon shouted.

  Special Author’s Note

I started writing as a hobby and it has turned into a passion over the last several years. I hope that you enjoyed this current novel. Colton Banyon Mysteries has turned into a long-term series with much more to tell and many mysteries to solve.

I greatly appreciate the feedback and comments that I have gathered about my plots and characters. Anyone who has followed my writings has noticed changes in the characters based upon your feedback along this journey. I encourage you to continue to provide your input. There are two ways to do that. The first is to send your comments to me at my website, www.geraldjkubickibooks.com. I always respond to any email. The second and the most important way is to post a review on Amazon, Goodreads, and Barnes & Noble. To an independent writer like me, the comments are like gold.

  Author’s Notes

This book is completely a work of fiction. Any resemblance to anyone living or dead is pure coincidence. None of the characters are real, but are a figment of my imagination. It has not been my intention to depict any race, culture, or group in a bad light. The book is a simple story. Some of the characters in this book are named after friends of mine. They have agreed to let me use their names in the story.

As always, I have sprinkled bits of history throughout this novel. The comparison of Erox to Hitler is mostly accurate. The exception is how he died. The theme of “history repeats itself” is included to remind us that we can never forget our violent past and the possibility of future confrontations. We always need to be vigilant in the future.

More and more scientists are beginning to admit that there could be life on other planets. Some believe that it will only be a matter of time before we meet them. But the question is, did we evolve from them or did they evolve from us. Or are we all part of a bigger family.

  Acknowledgements

I want to thank several people for helping me to write this eight book series called The Society of Orion. It took me over a year to write it and it contains over a quarter of a million words. No authors could get that far by themselves.

Of course, there is my son, Kristopher Kubicki, who co-authors and is my resident technical expert.

My Beta readers for at least some of the books in this series are: Steve Pellegrino, Sue Kerner Ward, Paul Kedrowitz, Glen Davis, Rebecca Gillispie, Tracy Dillard and Steph Elias. Without their comments my books would be incomplete.

I also want to thank the designer of my covers for the books. He name is Clarissa Yeo.

Joe and Karen Gersch provide major input especially on spelling and grammar, something that often eludes me.

As always, Kathy Mayeda is my final sounding board.
