Making Me
Breaking out,
breaking free,
maybe then I’ll see,
who I aim to be.
This is me.
Snowy Haiku
High sky cloudy grey,
Snow falling; swiftly, softly.
Down on frozen earth.
Coastal Symphony
Hair dances, flutters, waves
Lithe young snakes in the air
Warm wind
Hot sun
Bare feet on sun-baked sand
A comforting embrace
Ice cold
Water
Flows like a silken scarf
Enfolding soft white skin
Sea gulls
Calling
Protest their theft of food
A sharp, piercing music
Laughter
Shouting
Four senses satisfied
A coastal symphony
Tranquility
The smell of cigarettes
floating through the air
a cool, crisp breeze
ruffling my hair.
Yellow rusty leaves,
drifting from the sky,
commotion in the courtyard,
is a peaceful sigh.
collapse
emotions crowding forth
bring overwhelming doubt
inner dam is broken
words rushing, sliding out
hand slips over paper
thoughts written like a shout
Intrusion
Heading for a crash
going to fast
too bright - too loud
need to muffle this sound.
Rushing to a change
feeling so estranged
too foggy - too blurry
have to get there in a hurry.
Standing on the edge
of a topsy turvy ledge
not solid - not steady
I think I might be ready.
She’ll Make You Dance
Rotating sphere of lies and more,
You never know what she’ll have in store.
Seducing you with but a glance,
Her lingering touch leads you out to dance.
Bad makeup, and lines around her mouth.
Thin lips sliding and sinking south.
Greasy long hair that whips in the wind,
The way she dances shows you how she’s sinned.
Yet even so, you cannot but drool,
When she sits down beside you on her barstool.
The way she looks into your soul,
Has you at once, within her control.
She’ll take you deeper, deeper and down,
She has the power to amaze and astound.
Before you realize you’ll belong to her.
She’ll make you scream, make you cry, make you purr…
Calling
Sweety, I can hear you calling,
but I can’t catch you if I’m falling.
You never stayed to help me stand,
instead you raised your pretty hand.
I swear someday I’ll make you pay,
for leaving me alone this way.
It wasn’t you I heard while falling,
that wasn’t your soft voice calling.
You weren’t the one to grab my hand,
to pull me out of that quicksand.
And you keep pushing us away,
you’ll be all alone someday.
They won’t be there when you’re falling,
and I won’t be the one that’s calling.
Yet I’m the one who’d understand,
who’d gladly give a helping hand.
And now it’s me who’s turned away,
these are the words I’ve heard him say.
And honey, I can’t hear him calling,
but I’d still catch him when he’s falling.
He was there to help me stand,
he was there to hold my hand.
I swear my love I really pay,
for pushing him away that day.
It was him I heard while falling,
that was his soft voice calling.
He was the one to grab my hand,
he pulled me out of that quicksand.
And yet I kept pushing him away,
Which means I’ll be alone one day.
‘Cause you won’t be there when I’m falling,
and he won’t be the one that’s calling.
Yet you’re the ones who’d understand,
who could’ve lent a helping hand.
Finding Gestalt
My pieces just don’t fit.
not whole,
disjointed,
but they’re parts of me.
Feels like pixels in a camera.
clashed,
obscure,
and everyone can see.
Slowly, slowly blending.
blurry,
foggy,
I know Gestalt is me.
When the mirror clears.
fleeting,
jarring,
who will I see?
Winter
The biting sharpness of a winter wind,
Hits me like a wall.
Feeling like a separation.
The pale distant sun glaring off of snow,
Pierces, blinds my eyes.
Halting, thwarting, of creation.
The harsh brittle air in this frozen land,
Steals my breath away.
A season of isolation.
losing her soul
first she’s here and then she’s gone,
running with the devil’s spawn,
getting stoned on mommy’s lawn,
in the darkness before dawn.
and slowly now I’m losing hope,
as she plays with knives and rope,
laughing at the preacher’s pope,
while running down a demon’s slope.
she knows there’s nothing to be won
by doing that which can’t be done,
enjoying that which isn’t fun,
and now she dreads the morning sun.
Wish It Away
Stomach tight and aching;
chest constricting losing breath.
Chills race from head to toe.
The things you’ve always wanted,
those dreams, they hurt the most.
And what you’ve always wished for,
is at your fingertips;
But you wish it all away,
longing for another day.
Flatliners by Mae and Leo
Spiritually deaf-
In an unforgiving world.
Hear horrors all around-
While pretending to obey the tyrant.
The lights got brighter.
The sounds got louder.
Yet all the world got darker and darker.
Did the minds of babies-
Become enlightened?
Or did they flatline like their bodies-
After a century or so?
Perseverance
He will not frighten me to tears,
He will not frighten me to lies,
And when the fists start raining down-
I will remember:
He will not
break my firm composure.
He will not break my mind.
And when the curses start to fly-
I will remember:
He will not drag my spirit down,
He will not rule my life with lies.
Burgeoning
High above, trees sway as birds soar,
Couldn’t care less or ask for more.
Yet deep inside is something new,
A darkness grows that’s seen by few.
Solitude
Today I’m in my cage again.
Trip wires all around.
Snipers mounted,
Bullets loaded,
Locks down.
Air like liquid nitrogen.
Today I stand alone again.
Wind whistles through the bars.
Sharpened razors,
Barbed wire,
Bows drawn.
Darkness camouflages me.
Lie Awake
Last night upon a midnight clear,
I hid from that which caused my fear.
Yet silence would not go away,
If only I could sleep I may,
Forget the lies they’re telling me,
Escape who they wish me to be.
Look out the window ever dark,
Outside their ghosts have left their mark.
Fears seem many and truths are few,
But moonlight comes, their lies aren’t true.
Regret
Her lips are full, her body lush;
She’s married to her high school crush.
They seem in love but they are not,
her child dead, her brother shot.
She hates the secrets and the lies,
still hears her brother when she cries.
She hates her husband and her life,
loathes the darkness and his knife.
And every time she goes to sleep,
her man goes out too far, too deep.
Her world’s locked down she can’t get out.
She can’t do more than cry or shout.
Certain Slants of Light
He looked into her sad brown eyes,
and saw her deepest dark demise.
He touched her long wet golden hair,
and kissed her cheek so soft and fair.
He picked her off the bloody floor,
carried her through the broken door.
He wrapped a cloth around her wrist,
and dried skin dampened from the mist.
Picture pulled from denim pocket,
then a tiny silver locket.
He said that he could not remember,
how long had they been together?
Then he told her he was sorry,
that she had no cause to worry.
He held her body in his arms,
and listened to police alarms.
He gazed into her trusting eyes,
thus warding off her Mother’s cries.
Together in a tub sitting,
and her hands and his were gripping.
She knew he’d make it all okay,
for he took all her pain away.
Free Fall
Creeping and crawling,
Alone in the dark,
Running and hiding,
As angels sing hark.
Plunging and diving,
Down through the stars,
Falling and soaring,
From Heaven’s bars.
Evil Born
Pacing in this darkened light,
My
