by Mae Rennox

world has finally turned to night,

Refusing fear with all my might,

  Ignoring that which causes fright.

Flaunting life in front of death,

  Becoming harder to draw breath.

  Walking down into the water,

Not seeing all the Godless slaughter,

  Looking at my Mother’s Daughter,

Wondering why there’s such a bother.

To do that which can’t be done,

To win a war that can’t be won.

  Feeling water slowly warm,

  Blood-red pictures start to form,

  Seeping from the bodies torn,

Limbs stolen when evil is born.

  Doomed Dynasty

The lights that glimmer in the dark

  Straining, reaching, for the mark

Upon the alter the boy is placed

Deep in the woods a stag is chased

Their sharpened spears meet coming horde

Death predates with bow and sword

But Athena’s ears are closed tonight

Their sacrifice will not shine bright.

  Night Creatures

  Here I lie, all alone,

In the dark, I’m on my own.

And when I’m alone I fear,

Because of the silence I can hear.

Roaming in the dark are creatures,

  I can’t close my eyes.

For then I see their ghastly features,

And will hear their torturous lies.

And if they come so near,

That I can glimpse them in my dark mirror.

I’ll cast them out with all my might,

By turning on, my brightest light.

  Untroubled Flowers

Those flowers dancing in the wind

Uncaring that the world has sinned

Or where they’re lovely roots are pinned

Or why it was the bad man grinned

They pay no heed to anyone

Not even to the bad man’s son

They know there’s nothing to be won

By doing what cannot be done.

  River Toll

Once upon a beach at night,

naught to see, no need for light,

a boulder falls with all its might,

there is no sound for useless sight.

Death is nigh yet no one cares,

I can’t see the golden stairs,

no one to pay my tiny fares,

they won’t take part in tasteless dares.

  changeling

  girl running fast and far

little boy left in the snow

young monk looking at a star

  blue-black skin is all aglow

piercing cries ring through the night

the monk’s looking for the sound

nothing to be seen in sight

  he only found a hound

  Konam

  Revolving circle, never end.

It’s time to fight, it’s time to mend.

  Hatred growing cold as ice,

  Watching you as you entice.

Going, gone, your soul is fleeing.

It’s the essence of my being.

  Treachery and dark deceit,

  Sitting in your empty seat.

  Falling Embers

  Little dancing butterflies

Glowing in the dark like eyes

  Heedless to the people’s cries

  Sending prayers to the skies

  Casting softened shimmered light

  Aiding soldiers in their fight

  Giving hope to hopeless night

  Adding to the armies’ might

  Dreams

  From beneath a winter sun,

her snowy hair is left undone.

  Running, dancing, in morning light,

  leaping twirling, out of sight.

  Child of the fairy Queen,

with arms and legs all pale and lean.

  Born of nightmare into dreams,

she follows tails of white moonbeams.

  Blood

Blood is the printing of the Devil,

Like red ink on a poet’s page.

Blood is the red stain of rage,

And there is no exception for age.

  For whatever the reason,

The presence of blood’s in every season.

Blood is the printing of the Devil,

Like red ink on a poet’s page.

Blood is the red stain of rage,

Its seeping warmth touches every age.

  Witch Hunt

  Once upon a chilling time,

  girl accused, unlawful crime.

  Mommy’s biggest curse,

is what made their lives reverse.

Lost in the darkness of a jail,

all she knew was that she’d fail.

Knot’s been tied and rope’s been hung,

waiting for the noose to come.

  Flee

  Running morning, day, and night.

He wonders if he’ll ever fight.

And to the world the sadness comes,

and in his ear his sister hums.

  Hello, goodbye, it’s over now.

I wonder where, and when, and how…

  Creature

  Whirls around a corner.

  Flying hopeless, flying fast.

Tiptoes by the gates of Hell,

  It’s creeping, sneaking past.

Gliding to the deep blue sea,

  Slipping, dipping, home at last.

  Terrible Beauty

Shimmering lake under a dark sky,

Icy cold stars above, up so high.

  Young ladies dancing among trees,

The short-haired one is who the boy sees.

Fall in love as she’s dancing around,

Twirling and whirling to unheard sound.

Beautiful wonder as she dips in the lake,

Under soft skin, the mind of a snake.

She’s stealing his soul, there’s no hope left,

  Singing with joy, unbearable theft.

  Uniting the Clans

  Unholy joining,

  Bringing shaky peace at last.

  But first comes fire.

  Fallen kings revered,

  Staining snowy frozen earth.

  Bloodlines disappear.

  Fury fuelled by flame,

  A Phoenix from the ashes.

  Brought them to their knees.

  Death walks at her side,

  Sun God pacified at last.

  Clansmen brought to heel.

  Strong and radiant,

  Devout without suspicion.

  Fearsome legacy.
