Jason chuckled. “So what you’re telling me is that on top of the community center and the youth center, you’re gonna want to work at a day care next too.”
“Tiny humans are cute!”
“If you say so.”
Chase curled his arms around Jason’s back, leaning into a hug. “You’re cute too.”
Jason snorted. “And you’re in a good mood.”
“I’m happy you’re all right. And I did have a good day. A good mood seems perfectly reasonable.”
He felt Chase start to knead into his shoulders. “Yeah,” Jason said, “I guess it does.”
JASON SQUIRMED in his position in Shade’s lap, his fingers tightening around Shade’s.
“Jason okay?” Shade asked, smoothing a hand over Jason’s hair when Jason’s hand clenched again.
“Yeah,” Jason managed breathlessly. “It’s good, feels good—Chase.”
A hand stroked down his stomach, another kiss pressed to Jason’s inner thigh, and Jason came with Chase’s fingers inside him, panting and shaking against Shade’s hold.
Chase surged up to kiss him, messy and wet, and Jason whimpered against his mouth and clung tighter to both of them. Shade was there when Chase pulled away, leaning in for kisses of his own, Jason taking all Shade was happy to give.
After Jason got his breath back, they laid Chase out between them and did their best to take him apart until he overloaded, trembling against them, crying out against Shade’s mouth as he arched up under Jason’s.
Chase and Shade traded sleepy kisses as Jason went to the bathroom to clean up a little, and then he was back in the bed, sliding in with them between the covers, nestling back against Shade, who had taken the middle this time.
Another day done. Jason was moving forward even with his ups and downs, and he would keep striving to be better.
He had some pretty good incentive, after all.
AIDAN WAYNE has been a jeweler, paralegal, neurofeedback technician, and martial arts instructor, and that’s not even the whole list. They’ve been in constant motion since before they were born (pity Aidan’s mom!)—and being born didn’t change anything. When not moving, Aidan is usually writing, so things tend to balance out. They primarily write character-driven stories with happy endings, because, dammit, queer people deserve happy endings too.
Aidan has several plants: Viola and Baby V., the African violets; George, the ponytail palm; Antigone, the orchid; and an unidentified succulent, the-plant-that-has-not-yet-been-named-but-is-often-called-Steve. They live with their plants on the seventh floor of an apartment building. The building has an elevator, but Aidan refuses to acknowledge its existence.
