ABOUT THE AUTHOR AND ILLUSTRATOR
BAKARA WINTNER is a tarot reader, dog mom, girlboss, writer and owner of Everyday Magic. In her few short years reading tarot, she has gained a reputation as an innately gifted intuitive and reader. Her dynamic and no-nonsense reading style has earned her a vast client base of entrepreneurs, students, CEOs, waiters, celebrities, stay-at-home moms, artists, other healers and a lot of people who don’t know what the fuck they’re doing. Her readings cover topics including love, career, major life transitions, childhood trauma, couples counseling, grief guidance and inner child healing.
After completing a six-month, immersive study of the Major Arcana with the Brooklyn Fools, she joined founder Jeff Hinshaw as a co-facilitator, offering students an in-depth, experiential journey through the Tarot’s archetypes and now teaches group and individual intensives. Trained in Core Energetics therapy and a graduate of Delphi University’s In-Depth Channeling program, she pulls across modalities and schools of thought to inform and supplement her readings. She is currently working on her own tarot deck.
Since opening Everyday Magic—an intentional lifestyle shop carrying crystals, tarot cards and ritual objects—Bakara has established herself and her space as a cornerstone of Durham’s healing community, where she lives with her pit mix, Zadie Killer.
AUTUMN WHITEHURST has been illustrating for nearly two decades and counts among her clients Coca-Cola, Sapporo, the Principality of Monaco, Ray-Ban, Aveda, BBC and countless magazines, publishers and consumer outlets. She hails from New Orleans but now divides her time between Brooklyn and the rest of the world, this being vital to her creativity and happiness. She’s the very best version of herself when she’s engaged in messy endeavors and hopes to someday be a bull in its own china shop.
