  “Earth to Quinn.”

“Sorry, Brandi I was thinking of Mekhi. Come on in.”

  “Where is he?”

“He and his brothers are out doing a job. They should be back shortly.”

“I won’t be long I just wanted to see if you like the dress I made you.”

“You really made me a dress?”

  “I keep my word.”

  “Follow me.”

Quinn led her up the staircase into the rooms she shared with Mekhi.

  “You have a cat.”

  “Her name is Tee.”

“I love animals. Hi, Tee, if I had known about you, I would have made you a cute little outfit too.”

Tee stared at her, lifted her head and walked out.

  “That’s why I love animals.”

“Ignore her, she’s mad because she had to stay behind.”

“Not a problem she’s adorable. Here is the dress I made. Try it on let me know what you think.” Brandi took a seat on the couch and waited for Quinn to come back out.

She walked out the room waving her hands in front of her eyes and blinking fast.

“Are you alright?” She ran over to her.

“I’m fine. I’ve never looked like this before not even for my prom. How did you do it?” The dress was dark green. Her hair looked like strands of ebony against it. It hugged every curve she had showing them off but not revealing all the mystery that made her feminine.

“I have a love of clothing from a young girl, and I know what problems a woman can suffer with when it comes to the cut of clothes.”

Quinn hugged her tight. “Thank you. You didn’t have to do this.”

  “I wanted to.”

“When I’m wearing this do I say, ‘I’m wearing a Brandi original?’”

“Yes. There will even be a few people who are envious.” They laughed together.

“Now Mekhi will have to take me to one of those fancy restaurants.”

“One look at you in that dress he’ll want to take you to every restaurant he can find.”

“You keep filling my head like that, and we will be the best of friends.”

  “Good, I could use more.”

“Me too. How long can you stay?”

“I need to leave already I have a show tonight.”

“All right let me change, and I’ll walk you out. Let’s do lunch or dinner soon.”

  “Fine, next week?”

“Yes!” She laughed her life was so much different now, and she loved every part.

“I’m ready.” They walked out the door, and Quinn stopped. “The guys are back.”

“Your hearing must be excellent; I can’t hear them.” She followed her down the stairs.

They came out in the kitchen.

“Everyone this is Brandi. Brandi this is my fiancé Mekhi.”

“Hi everyone, hi Mekhi. Sorry, I can’t stay, but I have a show tonight.” She gave them all a smile, but it faltered when she looked at Jabari.

“Sorry to hear that. I would have loved to have you for dinner.”

She shivered and looked at Quinn before edging towards the door.

“I’ll see you next week Quinn.”

Jabari opened the door for her.

“You can run, but you can’t hide. I know who you are now.”

Brandi fast walked to her car not wanting to appear frightened.

Quinn opened her mouth, but Mekhi kissed her instead.

“Let them work out their own issues. I love you, Quinn.”

  “I love you.”

He could listen to her say that forever, and he could tell her about his love. It would never get tiring. He kissed her again ignoring the glare from his brothers.
