The Portal to Sidhe: Book 1

It was so dark that I couldn’t see anything around me. All I could see was chaos each time the room was lit from the storm. The creature was gripping me tight as I tried kicking them, but they were no match for me. I could feel flesh near by mouth, so I bit down hard and could taste the warm blood drip down my face. The creature howled, but did not budge. Whatever had me in their grip was merciless.
As a bolt of lightning quickly lit the room, I saw a creature grab something from my drawer. “Cover yourself,” they said.
I was given a random t-shirt and pajama pants. I quickly dressed myself while the creature held me tight. They were so strong, it would be impossible to escape. As my eyes began to adjust to the darkness, it looked as if five other bodies were in the room along with Ben and I. I could see all the creatures were very large. I assumed they were vile, but I could not tell.
After a few moments, the creature threw me over his shoulder. I screamed, hoping my father could hear me, but no one came to help. Two other creatures were carrying Ben, who was yelling as well. Despite all our yelling, no one came for us.
“Shut up!” the creature growled. “No one will hear you. You’re wasting your time and pissing me off! Shut up!”
I kept screaming as I began to cry. I was horrified. The creatures carried us down the stairs and out the door as they were headed to the mansion. They entered the mansion and carried us all the way down to the basement. I screamed the entire way. I was so confused as to what was going on.
Finally we reached the holding cell. One of the creatures opened the door and tossed Ben and I inside. Ben quickly took hold of me, looking me over to make sure I was okay. When he realized I was okay, I quickly scanned the room and saw my aunt Allison, Roger, Laura, Sean and Melody. My aunt screeched when she saw that I was covered in blood. The blood was from Ben; I had not been hurt.
“It’s okay,” I said calmly. “They didn’t hurt me.”
“You both are covered in blood!” she screeched.
I turned red; I didn’t know what to say. Ben spoke for me, “I was drinking…”
“Oh,” my aunt said looking embarrassed as she quickly looked away.
“What is going on?” I cried.
“We don’t know.” Laura responded. “The three of us were guarding Roger during the ball. The ball was almost over and we were attacked out of nowhere and thrown in the cell. They didn’t really hurt us, they just threw us in the cell with Roger.”
Sean continued, “The four of us were in here for awhile before they came back with Allison.”
“I thought it was Roger,” my aunt continued, “But he won’t give us any answers.”
“I don’t know anything!” Roger cried, looking just as confused as the rest.
Ben said, “We are vampires, superhumans and fairies. Between all our magic, we should be able to take them out.”
“I don’t know how to do anything,” I said sadly. “I can’t fight and have no idea how to use my magic.”
“Can you do some fairy magic to bust us out?” Ben said looking towards Roger.
“I don’t know how to do anything. I am only half fairy and I have no potion or dust. I hardly know anything about my powers as it is.” Roger responded.
Melody looked at Ben, “can you break us out of here with your vampire strength?” she asked?
Ben stood up and tried beating down the door. He kicked it, hit it and punched it. Even after drinking my blood, Ben wasn’t strong enough to break down the door. My father had made the cell to withstand even a vampire’s strength.
Melody stood up to help. Her and Bed tried ramming down the door with their bodies. They did nothing but shake the walls. I shut my eyes and tried to clear my mind. I held my hands out and thought about igniting power from my hands. I tried over and over again, but nothing happened. It was as if I had no power at all.
Sean and Laura stood up and tried to help Ben and Melody break out. Nothing was working. Finally, we all gave up. The seven of us just sat there not know what to do.
“Are there any clothes in here?” Ben asked. He was wearing only his tuxedo pants from earlier and no shirt.
“There are some shirts and pants in the drawer,” Roger responded.
Ben went to drawer and pulled out some clothes. He went into the bathroom to change. When he came out of the bathroom, he was wearing a t-shirt that was much too tight and sweatpants that hardly fit. I was glad, whoever had captured us, had given me something comfortable to wear. There was no telling how long we would be stuck.
The seven of us continued sitting around for what seemed like hours. It was very late into the night and soon it would be morning. Our only hope was that we would be rescued. My dad would be a mess wondering where I was.
There was a single bed in the room; Roger offered it to me, but I refused. I told one of the other’s to take it and try to sleep. My aunt Allison took the bed and immediately fell asleep, as we were all exhausted from the ball.
Roger pulled out a few spare blankets and the only other pillow he had. The others curled up on the floor, trying to get comfortable and fall asleep. Ben sat against the wall and called me over, he told me to cuddle up with him and try to rest. He told me he would stay awake and look out for the others. I was reluctant, but as soon as I was in his arms, I passed out.
When I awoke, the clock said it was eight in the morning. Some of the others were awake and some were still asleep. Ben’s eyes were still wide as he guarded the others. I crawled off Ben and whispered for him to get some rest. He nodded his head and instantly dozed off from exhaustion.
I looked around the room and saw that only Roger, Melody and myself were awake. As new Queen, I felt like it was my duty to take charge of the situation. I softly walked to Roger and whispered, “Do you have food and water?”
“There is some bottled water in the mini fridge and cups in the cabinet. There are a few apples in fridge and some snacks. The cabinet has some cookies, but that is all.”
“We need to conserve everything we can. There is no telling how long they will keep us in here and there are seven of us. We should save our energy if we need to fight.”
“I agree,” Roger replied. “I’m sorry I don’t have more. This town has been good to me, bringing me three hot meals a day.”
“You shouldn’t be a prisoner,” I said. “I am sorry they don’t trust you.”
“No Sweetheart,” Roger said kindly, “I do have evil in me and they’re trying to preserve what is good. I don’t have much evil left, but I don’t want to hurt anyone. I just wanted to meet my daughters, even if I’m stuck down here.”
I felt so bad for Roger. He had only come to meet his daughters, only to find out one was dead and the other wanted nothing to do with him. His son-in-law wanted him dead, and our town had thrown him in a cell to rot.
Shortly after speaking with Roger, everyone woke except Ben. I stood up and softly spoke, “There are cups in the cabinet, be sure to drink plenty of water from the sink while you can. Let’s reserve the bottled water in case our water goes out. We have some food, but we need to ration it. There is no telling how long they will hold us prisoner.” As I spoke, I tried to remember what my father had taught me about survival skills and rationing. As my life had been peaceful, I thought the skills my father taught me were sometimes useless. After my first true scare, my father’s actions were beginning to make since.
After speaking, I opened the fridge. As Roger had said, there were two apples, half a bottle of juice and a few slices of cheese. The cabinet had a bag with seven homemade cookies. The food wouldn’t keep us going long. I opened the cookies and divided them into four. Ben was still asleep, so I passed out a piece of cookie to the others.
After passing out cookies, I told my aunt that I was going to take a quick shower. I was still covered in blood from the night before and felt disgusting. Before I took a shower, I requested that the others look for supplies or anything that may help us to escape.
We were lucky the ce
ll had been set up for comfort with a private bathroom and shower. The cell had a mini-fridge, bed and television. It was unlikely there would be anything that could allow us to escape, but there were many cabinets that possibly held tools to help us survive while we waited.
After I showered, I went back into the room. Since Ben was awake, I told him to shower as he was still covered in my blood. I grabbed a cup from the cabinet and filled it with water to take a drink. As I looked around the room, I saw the others sitting around looking anxious.
As I filled my cup, my aunt said, “We didn’t find much, some soap, bandages, mild painkillers and some movies.”
I frowned, but said, “Anyone want to watch a movie?” The others nodded their heads and my aunt put a movie on the small television.
Soon Ben came from the shower and sat on the floor next to me. “Take some blood,” I said.
“I don’t think—”
“I insist,” I said.
“From the wrist,” he responded. “I don’t know if I can control myself otherwise…and I have no privacy.”
I handed him my wrist. He shut his eyes as he took a small bite from my flesh. I could see pleasure overwhelming his face from only a few small drops. He had wonderful control and after only a few drinks, he stopped. I could see from the way he looked at me, he was beginning to grow sexually excited and embarrassed by his desires. He quickly stood up and grabbed a bandage and a few paper towels. He wiped the small amount of blood away and covered my wound.
“Is that enough?” I asked.
“I don’t want to take any more from you,” he responded, “You have very little food and I don’t want to suck you dry.”
For several hours our small group watched movies and tried to keep hope. I took a piece of cheese and broke it into a few pieces and handed it out to the others. It was obvious everyone was tired and hungry. I reminded the group to drink plenty of water to keep their strength.
Another night went by and soon morning came. We ate the small amount of food we had, and drank plenty of water to fill the void. Ben drank small amounts of blond from me to try and keep his strength. Our group was drained of energy and starving. We were almost out of food and not a soul had opened the cell door since we had been taken. We spent another day watching movies and wondering if and when we would ever be released.
The evening came and went and soon it was night. My aunt offered the bed to me, but I told someone else to take it. Melody took the bed, and the rest of us spread out on the floor. I snuggled up in Ben’s arms as he kept watch so I could sleep.
I was drained from hunger and fell asleep very fast. It seemed as if I had only slept for a very short period of time when Ben shook me awake. As I opened my eyes, I saw the door was open and what looked like a man was standing in the doorway. The man was as big as Ben and looked mean. He had blond hair and dark eyes. He snapped on the lights and everyone woke in frenzy.
“Let’s go!” he growled.
No one moved.
“LET’S GO!” he yelled.
Everyone quickly stood up. Ben challenged him and said, “Who are you and what do you want?”
The large man punched Ben in the face, but didn’t realize Ben’s strength. Ben hardly flinched as he punched the man back. The man quickly dodged Ben’s fist and before Ben could throw another punch, another man was in the room and had ahold of Ben’s fist.
“LISTEN UP!” The blond said, “Don’t bother trying to fight us, because there are many more of us than there are of you. Don’t bother using magic, because we have magic too. It’s in your best interest to do what we say. If you listen, no one will get hurt.”
Ben looked at me, “Do what he says,” I said softly. Ben nodded.
The men pulled zip ties and gags from their pockets. “Who’s first!” the blond growled.
No one moved. He yanked my aunt’s arm and she screamed.
“Stop!” Roger said, “Please don’t hurt her.”
“Shut up!” the other large man said as the blond tied my aunt’s arms behind her back.
Roger shut his eyes and held his hands out; his hands were trembling as if he was trying to force energy from them. Nothing happened. As Roger tried using magic, Ben growled and charged at the men, knocking them over. Just as quickly as Ben rammed into them, they jumped from the ground and back to their feet. I shut my eyes once more and tried to power my hands. I had no success. None of us could over power these two beasts.
The men had my aunt tied and gagged, and pushed her to the ground. Next they grabbed Melody; she screamed in fear as they pulled her hands behind her back. I shut my eyes once more, trying to create some type of power. Nothing was working.
Once Melody was tied up, they came for me next. I shut my eyes and imagined every bit of energy being forced into my hands. My hands began to tremble as I felt bolts of power emerging from my fingertips. I was ready to throw it at the large men, but when I lifted my fingers, the power disappeared. The men laughed at my failure.
Seconds after the men took hold of me, Ben was once more charging at them, but they tossed him to the ground. Ben groaned in pain, while Roger was by my aunt trying to tear her hands loose. The moment the blond saw Roger trying to free his daughter, he kicked Roger in the gut. Roger cried out as he slid across the floor and blood spewed from his mouth. Ben charged the men again, but they slammed Ben into the wall. The whole room shook as his body crashed into the concrete. Ben was running out of energy; he had not had enough blood. There was no hope for any of us.
As the two large men continued to tie and gag everyone, I shut my eyes and continued trying to create magic. I felt energy in my hands, but nothing more. Tears began to fall from my eyes and my heart was racing. I felt like a complete failure and I was terrified to find out what was going to happen.
Once we were all tied and gagged, the blond demanded Allison to stand up. She obeyed. They tied a rope around her waist and the blonde held her in place. They demanded Roger to stand, but he was much too weak as he lay on the floor grasping his stomach. The tall man went to him and yanked him off the ground. The tall man shoved him across the room and the blond tied him to Allison. They continued tying us together until we were all in a line.
The large blond beat on the door and we heard it unlock. “Let’s go!” he demanded as he shoved Allison towards the door.
The man yanked Allison forward as our line followed behind. The other tall man stood in the back. There were two others outside the cell, another very large male with dark hair and a tiny female with dark hair and very pale skin. They followed as our group headed out of the cell and up the stairs.
We headed out of the mansion; no one else was in sight. I wondered where everyone in town was? I didn’t see anyone, but I hoped someone would save us.
The huge men and small woman led us out of the mansion. As we walked outside, it was pouring rain and storming. We walked down the street, heading towards the forest at the edge of town. After only a few minutes of walking, I was already drenched from the pouring rain. I felt cool and shivered as the rain soaked my body. A giant bolt of lightning touched down just in front of us, and a loud boom shook the ground. I jumped from the noise and began to tremble in fear. I heard my aunt screech from the front of the line. The tall man laughed.
We walked through the darkness, with only the moonlight and lightening illuminating the way. Bolts of lightening struck in every direction as rain pounded against our skin. Our line was walking slow as it was hard to see the ground in front of us, as we grew closer to the woods.
Finally, we entered the woods and we were led through the trees. The group walked even slower as the ground was soggy from the rain. It was dark and water was running into my eyes, making it hard to see. Suddenly a bolt of lightening burst from the sky and collided into a tree only a few feet away.
I screamed as the tree began to glow and branches collapsed to the ground. At the same moment, water dripped into my eye and my foot caught in a pile of mud. I lost my balanc
e and fell into Roger. Roger fell forward and collapsed into Aunt Allison. The three of us fell into the muddy soil. My aunt Allison screamed through her gag and tears began falling from my eyes. I sobbed as I lay in the soggy muddy ground.
I took a deep breath in, but the large blond man was already by my side. He grabbed my arm and yanked me off the ground like I was a rag doll. As the blond yanked me off the ground, the tall man kicked Roger and said, “Git up!”
Roger cried out, but pulled him self off the ground. The man was heading towards my aunt, but she was already pulling herself off the ground. “Let’s go! Let’s go! Hurry,” the blond yelled out and pushed us on.
As we walked on, I was so petrified, I couldn’t even tell if I was hurt from my fall. I was muddy, wet, tired and terrified. I was trembling, but I walked as quickly and carefully as I could.
We walked for what seemed like twenty minutes through the rain and storm before I saw a slight glow coming from the trees. As we grew closer to the light, I could see there were several others gathered in a crowd. They were all carrying flashlights and standing around waiting as the rain poured on. They were all dripping wet. When we reached them, the large blond man growled, “Stop!”
Our line came to a halt. The blond man held onto Allison, so our group could not escape. The crowd in the forest was a mix of male and females, some very large and some very tiny. I counted eleven individuals.
When we arrived, another tiny woman with dark hair and pale skin looked towards the blond and said, “Good, we must go. She is waiting for us and will become inpatient.” I wondered who she was.
Moments later, several of the smaller men and women began to circle around grasping hands. Everyone turned off their flashlights as they held hands. The tiny dark haired woman entered the circle. She had a few glass bottles in her hands. It looked as if they were fairy dust. She opened one of the bottles and threw the dust into the air. The blue dust floated through the rain as it lit up the air above her head.
