Golden Boy

Page 34

by Rosemary Friedman

  ‘Freddie! Freddie!’

The passengers in front of him turned their heads to see who was being addressed, as a slim red-headed figure ran uninhibitedly up the luggage ramp waving a flowing white scarf.

  ‘Freddie! Freddie!’

Allowing himself to be overtaken, Freddie was momentarily overcome with emotions so powerful that he was unable to move. Then, arms outstretched, Rodolfo returning to Mimi, Bacchus finding Ariadne, Nemorino united with Adina, certain that loving, and being loved, were the only things that mattered, he walked slowly towards Jane.
