He turns and picks up the tube of lube from my side table and offers it to me.
“Get me ready, baby.”
I take it and pour some in my palm, sliding it over his cock and enjoying the hiss and groans my touch pulls out of him. When he’s slick enough, he settles in between my legs and pushes inside me.
I gasp at the fullness, the pressure that settles in my body when he is deep inside me. I’ve missed this. So much. I blink back the tears that in my eyes but I’m too late. Several roll down my face and Mateo stills. He watches me, waiting for my signal, his gaze patient and open. I can see the love pouring off him, the desire he has to make me happy.
“Are you okay?” He asks and I nod and he leans down, kissing me softly. “Good tears?”
“Yes,” I whisper the word and it turns a moan when he moves deeper inside me.
We take it slow. This is not the time for hard and fast. We don’t want to rush but the need for the physical connection has us both shaking. He pushes inside and I lift to meet each of his thrusts, the pressure creating a warm, sensual warmth rushing over my skin. I reach over and pull the vibrator to me, placing it on my hand like I saw him do it and I turn it on.
I run my hand over my collarbone, down between my breasts, across my belly, awakening the nerve endings under my skin. Mateo watches the entire time, his eyes tracking the path, a soft curse escaping his mouth when I detour back up to my nipples. The stimulation is direct, strong and Mateo stutters his strokes when my sex clenches around him.
“Tesoro,” he says, his voice full of desire, want, and love. “I’m getting close. You feel too damn good.”
“Come on Teo,” I lift my head to capture his mouth in a carnal kiss that has his hips speeding up as he thrusts into me. He reaches down and grasps my legs, lifting them and opening me to him completely and he takes what he needs. I reach down between us and touch my clit with the finger pad and when he goes still above me with his release, a gentler orgasm from the one I had earlier races through my system.
Teo lowers himself to lie beside me, pulling me against his body as the little spoon to his larger one. I fit tight against him, the top of my head wedged underneath his chin, his arm lying possessively over my waist. We stare out of the windows, watching the lights of Nashville below us.
“Tesoro,” Mateo says, his voice low and dark and tinged with the gravel of emotion. Soft kisses across my jaw, against my temple, my bare shoulder. “You are my treasure, you know.”
I roll over to face him, the lights below nothing compared to his face. Nothing compared to his love.
“Teo, I have had fame and fortune. Solo te necesito a ti.” And it is true. All I need is him.
He smiles, leaning down to kiss my but veers off at the last, shaking his head. “Your accent is really terrible.”
I grin back. “We’ve got lots of time for you to help me practice.
“Yes, we do.”
Epilogue
Carlisle
Four months later.
I never thought I would be here again.
I am standing on the block at the start of my first race at the Paralympics games. The stands are full of people and the press area is bursting with reporters anxious to get a shot of me as I compete again for the first time since the bombing. I am now, and I love it, an ambassador and spokesperson for disabled people and athletes around the world. It is fulfilling work and it takes the focus off the tragedy of that day and gives back a little hope because I, and all the other survivors, are proving that they could not destroy us.
And even though Aaron is gone, he lives on in his foundation and the good it is doing. There are several athletes here who trained and traveled with a grant from our fundraising efforts and I couldn’t be more proud. I turned the day-to-day running of it to his parents and we are growing closer everyday. We spend more time laughing at memories of him than crying. It’s a good thing.
I stare at the water below me. Blue, sparkling and probably too cool and I cannot wait to get in it. I am in the pool everyday as I push myself to do better, to be better. Today is the result of all my hard work and whether I take home another medal or if I just finish this heat, it will be worth it.
I look up in the stands and I find my parents and the Butlers waving to me. My mom has her knitting needles in her hand and an unfinished blanket on her lap as usual. Livvy and Sarah are here too and my best friend gives me the thumbs up when I catch her eye.
And there is Teo. My rock. My best friend. My love. I think we’re getting it right this time. I lean on him more and he doesn’t try to protect me from everything. We work. It isn't flawless but it is real.
He doesn't know it but I’m going to ask him to move in with me after the games are over. From the way he’s smiling at me right now, I think he’ll say yes.
Another step for us. Another new beginning.
The buzzer goes off signaling one minute until the race starts so I tear my gaze away from him and focus. I get into position, take a few deep breaths and close my eyes. Everything goes away except my heartbeat and the call of the water.
I take another deep breath.
The buzzer goes off.
I open my eyes and jump.
