The Seventh Magpie

Thank you to my editor Gary Parr for sharing his copyediting and proofreading expertise for the final draft of this book, even though he normally prefers thrillers to fairy tales. I’m glad you liked the story, even though nothing exploded!
Thank you to Brian Leavitt for his graphic talent and keen eye in turning my rough design for the book cover into something even better than I had hoped. I couldn’t have done it without you.
Thank you to all my friends, family, and mentors who have offered me support and encouragement over the years, including: my big brother Rick who taught me to read and write in the first place and gave me a head start in the wonderful world of stories and books; Mrs. Blanchard, my eighth-grade English teacher who was the first person ever to ask me if I wanted to be a writer when I grew up; and my ninth-grade creative writing teacher, author Myra McLarey, who was the first person to start teaching me to hone my craft and become a better writer. Thanks also to author Bernie MacKinnon, whose comically outraged reaction to the long-ago first draft’s initial abrupt ending on Chapter 13 caused me to write Chapter 14 and give the book a much more complete and satisfying resolution.
And finally, thank you, my readers, for allowing me the great privilege of sharing my story with you. I hope you’ll join me again in my next book!
