  I growl at him as I crash into the tree, Ivan appears after a while as I’m untangling myself from the tree.

  He huffs a laugh as he sees me but I shake it off.

  I stare at the moon, emotions bubbles in my chest and I lift my muzzle to the sky. A haunting howl emits from my throat, I pour my emotions into the howl and my eyes shut as I let the moonlight soak into my fur and making me feel better.

  My brothers join the howl, our voices mixing together to make a sound so mournful that the woods become quite as if to mourn with us.

  I lift my voice to happier tones and my brother follow to end the howl. Once the sound has finished echoing I huff and turn back towards the pack house.

  We all run back to the house, biting leaves and jumping fallen trees. We even play wolf tag, something we haven’t done since we were little.

  My tail wags the whole time, the misery I feel at my pack being missing eases as my brothers and I revert back to our pup years.

  I rush into the house and quickly dive into my room, I grab some clothes in my mouth and throw them onto the bed.

  I close my eyes and think about my human body, the way my hands move and the way my skin feels. This makes my body want to be human and I focus on getting back my human form as the shift starts to take hold.

  I sigh and open my eyes as the shift completes itself.

  “Nat, when you’re ready come out” Jake yells from outside my room.

  I quickly get dressed and open my door, The room is dark and I wait for my eyes to adjust but I don’t see anything.

  I bring my wolf to just under the surface, if I’m going to be attacked I want to be ready for it.

  “Happy birthday!” I hear my brothers shout as the lights are thrown on, I yell in surprise and fear.

  “You guys know you could’ve given me a heart attack right?” I laugh as I place my hand on my racing heart.

  “No, it’s your 15th birthday how could you have forgotten?” Jake says laughing.

  “Well, I have been really busy, Happy birthday Ivan” I laugh.

  “Well we all have but that doesn't mean we can't have fun” Jake rolls his eyes.

  “How about we open the presents now I've also got a cake in the back,” said Reece with a smile on his face, his eyes hold a tint of red but I ignore it as he uses his speed to get the cake.

  I smile to myself, I’ve had Ivan's present for months. He grins at me and we exchange presents.

  I rip open the paper to see a jumper that I’ve wanted for ages, I giggle and wait for him to open his.

  His face lights up as he sees the hunting knife I picked out for him.

  “Thanks, Nat” He hugs me.

  “Thanks, Ivan I love it,” I say before I tug the jumper over my head.

  “Well we didn’t get you anything as I was going to go shopping yesterday but with everything that's happening I didn’t get chance, I love you though” Jake says as he pulls us both close for a hug, I feel his pain at not seeing his twin and it makes me happy to have mine.

  “It’s going to be so good when we get the pack back, Mum is going to be so surprised and maybe could actually kill us” I laugh.

  “Yeah well let’s save that for tomorrow, let’s go to bed now and we can have the cake for breakfast” Jakes fatherly tone makes me burst into a fit of giggles.

  Chapter Twelve

  A howl cuts through my dreams, Reece’s scream makes my eyes pop open. I hear another howl and know that my twin is fighting too, but who? There isn’t any threat.

  I gasp as the past few days barrel into me, I jump from my bed and shift. My wolf comes so quick I’m sick but I don’t care, my brothers and mate are in danger.

  I snarl and jump at my door, it breaks apart as my body goes through it. Sprinting across the living room I glance in the mirror and see my fur is still black, I shrug and push the back door open with my muzzle.

  I jump straight into the fight, blurs flash around me and I know it’s vampires that are attacking us.

  “Nat be careful!” Reece shouts from across the field, I bark and join in with my brothers.

  We keep each other's backs protected as the vampires advance. I bark a warning and Jake lunges at the vampire, it hisses at him before retreating slightly.

  I jump at one who wields a knife, his speed makes him hard to keep up to but I focus my mind and hold my own as we dance the battle fight.

  Biting down hard on the vampire's arm, I pull quickly up and the vampire screams out while dropping the knife.

  His hiss follows but I don’t let him get his fangs near me as I grab his throat in my mouth and shake, severing his spinal cord and effectively leaving him paralysed.

  Jakes pained howl makes my head whip around, him and Ivan are cornered and about to be vampire food.

  I bark and sprint towards them, just before I get there a blur of movement whips past me and to the aid of my brothers.

  I huff at Reece as he takes out the Vampires, his eyes glow so redly that I cannot see the black in them. Black spider-like veins surround his eyes and his fangs are longer than I have ever seen.

  “Protect your brothers, I’ll take care of most of them. I’ve got my full powers” The hiss that comes from Reece makes me shiver as I nod my head to say I understand.

  I howl a battle cry before jumping in to give my brothers time to recover from the battering we are facing.

  A snarl rips from my throat as five vampires gang up, my upper lip curls in disgust as the blood dripping from their fangs.

  I tilt my head and we all lunge, meeting in the middle I bite down hard on one of the vampire's arm.

  He hisses and I’m thrown from him, I let out a yelp as I hit a tree. I feel blood drip from my side and I quickly look to see the amount of damage.

  A roar brings me back to the fight and I see Reece staring at me, I no longer recognize the person he is as he blurs around the field.

  I can hear screams of pain and I try to keep up with the blurs.

  Jakes howl makes me tilt my head to the right, I nearly scream but remember I’m in wolf form. I growl instead and sprint towards him, Ivan does the same and we jump as one and onto the vampire who has Jake pinned down.

  Together Ivan and I manage to get the vampire off Jake, I glance at him to see a bite mark and my heart kicks into overdrive.

  Ivan goes in for the kill as I hold the vampire down, I feel more than see Reece behind me and I know he is keeping the vampires away.

  I huff and Ivan nods before running to the house. Glancing around I see the destruction, bodies lay all over and the glass is red with blood.

  “He should be okay, I just need to get the venom out of his system” Reece’s voice brings me back to see him kneeling beside Jake, his still form makes me shiver and I nod before turning away and keeping guard.

  Ivan’s paws on the ground alert me to his arrival and I huff before taking the clothes out of his mouth.

  I run to the nearest tree and quickly make the shift happen, a groan escaping my lips as my wound pulls. I shiver as I pull the clothes on, my instincts tell me to hurry up and get to my brother.

  I rush away from the tree and towards my pack, Jakes still form haunts my mind as I wait for something to happen.

  “Is he going to be okay?” I ask Reece, His eyes hold mine and I look away before tears can spill.

  “I’m not sure, his body isn’t responding to me. I can only do so much” The pain in his voice shakes me to my core.

  “Can I help?” I ask, Ivan’s arm snakes around my waist and I put my arm on his shoulder.

  “Actually yes, maybe he might react better to you however you would have to suck the venom out of his system” Reece mutters as if talking to himself more than anyone else.

  “Do I need to shift?” I ask, getting ready to shift.

  “I don’t think so, just be ready for pain. It will last for a second as I will be ready to help you” His eyebrows furrowed.

  I nod before kne
eling at Jakes side, I hold my breath for a second and take in a deep breath. Jakes heart beats slowly and I know if we don’t get the venom out now he will die.

  I shiver and put my mouth on his wound, closing my eyes I begin to suck. The tangy iron taste fills my throat and I struggle to swallow the blood, I suck faster and force myself to choke the blood down. I stop only when I taste different blood, I know that the venom has gone.

  I pull away quickly, my heart beats faster and I wait for my brother's heart to jump start. A smile lights up my face as Jakes eyes open, he whimpers as Ivan picks him up and takes him inside.

  “Let’s get the venom out,” Reece says just as I yelp, I can feel the venom work around my body. My heart pumping it around me, making my veins fills with the fire.

  I tilt my head and Reece puts his hand on my shoulder, his eyes hold mine as his fangs poke out from his lip. I nod and close my eyes, I feel him kiss my skin before his fangs slide over my neck.

  I gasp at the sharp pain but stay still as Reece works to get the venom out. I sigh as he pulls me closer, my mate bond flares up and I feel myself passing out.

  “Reece, you’ve done it!” Ivan’s yell brings me back to the real world just as Reece lets go of me.

  “Crap, Nat are you okay?” He says as his arm holds me up.

  “I’m fine” I mutter before Reece picks me up and we head to the pack house.

  Chapter Thirteen

  I groan as Reece places me gently onto the sofa, I curl up and wait for my healing to kick in. Reece watches me with worry written all over his face. I smile at him before looking around for Jake, Ivan nods to me and we all wait for Jake.

  My eyes start to close, the blood loss causing me to become more tired than I have been for a while.

  “You need to stay awake, I took too much and I can hear your heart struggling. I’m really sorry, it’s just your blood is like an addiction” Reece mutters before sliding onto the sofa and lifting my legs up to make me lay down.

  “It’s to do with the mating bond, in the werewolf world to complete the bond you both need to bite each other and that makes werewolves addicted to each other's blood. I’ve done my research and as you are mates and you are a vampire it makes her blood even more enticing to you” Ivan says, my mouth pops open as I stare at my brother.

  “I didn’t know you knew stuff like this” I reply, a laugh bubbles from me and he raises his eyebrow at me.

  Footsteps from the bedrooms take my attention as we all turn and wait for Jake to come into the room.

  I smile and sit up as he opens the door, I jump up and ignore the dizziness as I rush to him. He laughs as I hug him tightly, Ivan joins the hug and we all laugh at each other.

  “I have an idea! If we cannot go out yet let’s just have a fun day, after what we have been through we need to just relax and be together” I say as I pull away from Jake.

  “I’m in” Ivan grins and I roll my eyes as he rushes to get some films.

  “I’ve got the food!” Reece laughs and uses his speed to get food for us.

  “Come on, let’s get the sofa before they come back” I grin and help Jake to the sofa.

  “No fair!” Ivan whines as he carries an arm full of films.

  “You snooze you lose!” I reply with a laugh.

  He puts in a film and we all cuddle up, Reece hands me the popcorn and we play the film.

  ⤱⤱⤱⤱

  I yawn as the fourth film’s credits roll down, looking outside I see a shadow. A growl works it’s way up my throat but I keep quiet as I get up.

  Ivan sees my attention on the window and he stands as well, together we work our way to the door.

  I nod at him and Reece blurs to my side, I sigh and reach for the handle. I feel my wolf just under the surface, ready to shift at a seconds notice.

  Holding my breath I pull the handle down and slowly open the door, scenting the air my lip curls as the sickly sweet scent of vampire assaults my nose.

  Reece speeds past me and I know he is doing a lap of our grounds, I growl before jumping out and wait for something; anything to happen.

  “NAT!” Reece’s yell has me running, my wolf pushes the shift and I’m too weak to fight it as I run my ears travel higher to the top of my head and my face turns into my muzzle, my fur bursts from my skin and I leap to avoid hurting myself as my bones reshape.

  I land just as the shift completes itself, I see Reece’s eyes glowing red before I see his body. The tension in his body makes me slow down.

  “There is a package and it’s addressed to you,” He says, I nod and plod towards the box.

  My heart races as Reece opens the box for me, my eyes widen and a howl rips of my throat. The promise of blood running through the howl.

  Reece gasps and his hand lightly brushes my fur.

  The scent of a pack mate drifts to my nose and a snarl rumbles through me. I hear my brothers running towards us and I move away from the box. I see Jakes anger just before the shift takes hold of him, I push Reece out of the way and wait for my brother to shift.

  Jakes gold eyes hold anger, so much that I know someone will pay. Ivan whimpers, Jakes anger surges through the pack bond which causes Ivan to shift too.

  We all stand around the box, Reece keeps a watch and I notice a bloodied piece of paper,

  I gently put my paw in and move my pack mates tail. The grey fur is covered in blood and the end of it looks to have been cut with a blunt knife.

  I curl my claws around the paper and pull it free. Reece takes it from me and reads it out loud.

  Nat.

  Your time is up as is your pack mates, this is just a reminder that the vampires will rule the world and take out every werewolf.

  It would be so much better if you do fight so please get ready. The elders like it when you fight.

  I growl as Jake howls, Ivan stands quietly next to me. The effects of Jakes anger still running through us all.

  Trepidation runs through my veins and I shake myself, looking towards the woods I nudge Ivan.

  He nods and we set off for a run, I look back to see Reece on his knees staring at the box. A whine escapes me and his head pops up to look at me, I see tears running down his face.

  He may not have known my pack mate but this is meant to be his race that is attacking us.

  He waves me off and my head lowers as I turn back to see Ivan waiting for me, Jake jumps over me and I huff at him before racing after him.

  The pain in the pack bond playing in my mind, I used to hate this pack. I used to want to leave but now I would give my life to have my pack and family around me.

  Jake barks and I yip to him, the anger in his eyes lessens slightly as we run around and just be wolves for a while

  Chapter Fourteen

  “Nat wake up, I’ve found a lead” Reece’s voice drifts through my sleepy mind.

  I quickly open my eyes and see I’m in my wolf form and laying on the ground in the wood by my house.

  “Here” Reece hands some clothes for me and I take them before running to the nearest tree and shifting.

  Pulling on the clothes, last night's memories come crashing back. I sigh before walking towards Reece.

  “Come back to the house with me,” He says, I nod and start to walk.

  A blur rushes towards me and I roll my eyes at Reece, my eyes widen as I see the blur coming straight for me and I yell as Reece picks me up.

  The world blurs past me as the speed of a vampire takes me home, I laugh as we get to the house and Reece lets me down.

  “That was awesome,” I say, Reece shrugs before opening the door for me.

  “I try” His reply only just meets my ears.

  “Nat, have fun sleeping outside?” Ivan laughs, I look to Jake who seems more emotionless today.

  “I can’t remember even laying down never mind sleeping” I reply with a smile on my face.

  “I found out where the lab is that made the vampires if we can
get in we could find out why they were made,” Jake says, I can still feel anger in his veins but I ignore it.

  “I’ll get the car” I mutter.
