Mikal
“It’s time,” Gabby tells us.
Andrey and I rush down the all of the hospital to labor and delivery.
“Do you have the camera?’ I ask him.
“I thought you were grabbing it.” He laughs then says, “Just kidding. I have it.”
Asshole he loves to give me shit.
Today I don’t mind him as much because today is the day our babies enter this world. We’re not going to find out which of us is the father. It isn’t important. We’re a family, the three of us and our two children are just more joy to that. We have everything.
The only thing we fought over was who was going to go into the delivery room with Giana and in the end, we decided it was only fair to have Gabby be with her. Only one person could be present for the C-section. Now we are going to meet are babies while Giana is getting stitched up and recovering.
Gabby takes us down another hallway to the nursey.
“There they are, congrats, you guys. I am so happy for all of you, truly.”
“Thank you, Gabby.” She moves aside.
Andrey and I move closer to the glass and there they are two perfect bundles of joy that I can only hope look like their mother for she is beautiful. One baby with a blue cap and the other wearing a pink one.
Later once the excitement has died down and visitors have cleared out, we hold our children and dote on our wife. We may not have legally been able to wed her, but we did hold our own private ceremony where we both exchanged vows with our Giana and gave each other rings.
“Are you happy, Moy ogon'?” I ask.
“I never dreamed I could be so happy, Mikal,” she murmurs, her fingers sifting through baby Sophia’s hair.
“I knew it,” Andrey says, grinning from ear to ear as he holds Stavros, our son. “I told you that Mikal and I wanted nothing more in the world than to make you happy, Giana.”
“And you’ve done that, Andrey. Both of you have. I couldn’t imagine my life without you both and our children.”
“And you never will, Giana,” I promise her. “We’re going nowhere. We love you.”
We all three share a look filled with pride and love. I took one look at Giana once, and knew she was my forever. I didn’t realize how it would all play out, but as I look back on the life that Andrey, Giana and I have built, I know that it couldn’t be any better than it is right now. This is how it was always meant to be.
