Blood of my blood, flesh of my flesh,
The savior of my soul and spirit,
My divine immortality lies within you.”
She placed a band of solid gold on my middle finger, and it bonded with my skin, sending a charge of energy up my arm and straight to my heart.
“I welcome you, my daughter. A million times over, and until the end of eternity, I welcome you!”
She rose and gave me a hug, then resumed her place behind me.
I wiped my eyes and gazed across the clearing at the faces staring back at me. I could see Lily’s proud smile and Sophie’s tears.
“This is your family now,” Ana whispered from behind me. I scanned the crowd for Nicholas, but he was nowhere to be seen. My heart dropped. He was the only thing missing from this utterly perfect, magical moment.
Somewhere in the distance an enchanting melody played softly. One by one the people in the circle moved toward me. First was Lily. She curtsied and grasped my hands, and I felt our rings connect. She kissed my cheek. “Welcome, my sister.”
She stood up and took her place beside me. Next came Sophie. Like Lily, she grasped my hands, and our rings connected. “Welcome, sister,” she whispered through her tears as she kissed me on the cheek. Then she stood on my other side.
One by one, the others came forward and whispered either “Welcome, sister,” or “Welcome, daughter,” then bowed and held my hands. I greeted each one with a warm smile and embrace. My new family, bonded by magic and the ancient mystic forces of nature. We were all connected as one, and by the time the last person had welcomed me, I felt so full of love and joy I was sure I couldn’t possibly hold any more.
I was wrong.
As the last one moved aside, I saw him standing there. I thought my heart would explode right on the spot. Now everything was perfect.
Nicholas smiled and slowly moved towards me, the moonlight dancing off his dark angelic face. His green eyes sparkled. He stood before me like the others had done, bowed deeply, then knelt down on one knee.
I looked deep into his eyes and knew that no amount of magic in the world could even come close to the magic I felt when he was holding me in his arms…when he was kissing me sweetly and lovingly. That was the real magic. Loving Nicholas and having him love me back was the greatest magic of all.
He held both of my hands in his and kissed them softly. Then he stood up and pulled me close. Wrapping his arms around me, he gently kissed me, and ever so slowly, we began to rise into the air.
We sailed higher and higher as everyone watched from below. “Welcome, my dearest love,” he whispered, as the sparkling lights below gave way to the twinkling of the stars above.
I looked into his eyes. And in a flash I saw our future… our wedding on the beach surrounded by friends and family… our children, a boy and three girls, playing with Lily and Sophie’s children… all of us growing old together and seeing our grandchildren born… instructing them in the ways of magic as a large and loving extended family.
Nicholas gave me a gentle squeeze. “Are you ready?” he whispered.
I looked deep into his eyes and smiled.
“I’m ready.”
His lips met mine in a soft kiss. I knew that tomorrow we would be back with the others, back to our lives in Crystal Cove. But tonight… tonight was just for us.
Under the soft glow of the full moon, together as one, we floated high into the starry sky.
Epilogue
Solstice/Awakening
We walk in single file, slowly, our long white robes gracing the silken grass, our hoods draping over our heads, concealing our eyes. The faint flicker from the candle each of us holds illuminates us as we form a perfect circle.
It is the third night. The final gathering of our collective energy from around the world. We unite with one purpose in mind: to protect mankind and save it from itself.
Our purpose on this planet is to guide, to help, to teach, to heal, and to serve. Yet we must remain hidden in the shadows, our existences must remain unknown. For their sake… and for ours.
Until now.
I stand beneath the full moon and allow myself to absorb the energy of my companions, seen and unseen. I discover an invincible power within, an unstoppable force unlike any the world has ever known. I have the strength of thousands in my soul, and the spirits of billions in my heart. I am connected to every living thing on Earth, and they are connected to me.
The ceremonial chanting begins. I feel my power surge, and with all my might I project my own spell to the world:
Do not fear us. We are here to love, guide, and protect you. We exist so you can. We are one of you. You may not see us but we are always here, watching over you, a part of you. If you do not see us, you still will have a deeper knowledge that we are here. We are here. We have always been, and will always be. We all are one.
If you do see us, do not be afraid…we are your dearest allies, not your enemies. Open your hearts and minds to a greater possibility of peace, love and magic. And you will have it.
For all eternity,
Blessed Be.
My eyes are closed, but in this moment I see it… the Awakening of billions of souls to accept a new existence … one they always suspected. But now they know.
They know.
THE END
A note from Penelope
From the bottom of my heart, I’d like to thank you for reading these books and for sharing this experience with me. I hope you enjoyed Calista’s magical journey. However, this was Calista’s story, and therefore told only from her point of view. There are some secrets that have yet to be revealed from Gabriella, the woman who started it all. And if you think you know the whole story, you better think again.
LoveSpell: The Prequel Novel to the Spellbound Trilogy will be released early 2013.
