Save Me (The Lucky Family Book 1)

I then addressed everyone: "What is a borgata? And why are you clocking me?" I'm still in his lap and felt underneath a microscope. "What do you guys do for a living, I promise that I won't tell anyone where you live or what I have heard today. Oh my fucking God! I'm starting to get frustrated here." I tried to get off of Vincent's lap because I'm feeling so uncomfortable but there is no slack given. Why am I here? Its obvious that I'm intruding on a meeting that is way above my head.
Sal, or at least I thought that is this man's name, is the one who tried to calm me down. From across the room, he smiled at me. "Savannah, the information that you have heard here, is information that can not be repeated. Those who speak out of turn... are those that don't speak at all." I gulped and wiggled as much as I could in my seat. "You get me, girly?"
Oh, yeah. I got him. Keep my mouth shut. "Um..." I whispered as I adjusted myself on his lap. I stared at the man that is talking to me expecting for him to tell me more. Which he didn't.
With Vincent right in my ear he told me to go eat. Like it is planned, an older woman appeared to lead me to breakfast. She already knew my name which I found to be pretty creepy.
What a complete surprise, the kitchen is just as beautiful as the rest of the house that I have seen. I'm beginning to sense that there is a blue theme since these walls were also blue. The table is a beautiful maple with a chestnut finish.
"This is silly. I have food at home." I dumped myself in the chair with a pout to show that I'm not impressed with any of this. If I weren't so annoyed, I would have noticed how nice this woman actually is and I could probably get information from her. Except, I'm being petulant.
Where the hell is my phone?
"Miss Savannah, Mr. Vincent is quite taken with you and I never seen him want to please a comare. And by the way, my name is Stella."
I'm presented with a ham and feta cheese omelette that is so good I wanted to eat another one. As soon as I finished there walks in his associate.
I seriously want to know this man's actual job duties and why he is so formal all of the time. Even though I have never been to England, this associate reminded me of those British guards who act oblivious to the world. "Mr. Vincent would like to know what your plans were today. Oh, Miss Savannah, I didn't mean for you to think I'm intruding, I'm just doing my job."
Maybe if I find out this man's name he would be forthcoming with information... "What is your name? I'm assuming it isn't just the associate." Yeah, so what if I were shamelessly flirting? Sue me.
He took a breath and looked over his shoulder probably making sure that Vincent isn't there. "Adamo."
Why I felt the need to discuss my plans is beyond me. "Thank you for letting me know. I have an appointment at Caridee Salon to get my hair and make up done. There is an event for my firm that I need to go to." As I spoke I kept my voice calm even though I felt like I'm spiraling out of control.
Adamo took another breath and then asked when I needed a ride home. I asked to leave now. That is when Adamo said that he will take me home.
"Thank you for taking me home, I greatly appreciate it." Adamo left me now along with Stella. As they retreated down the hall, I heard those two talking with Vincent. Vincent walked into the kitchen and grabbed my elbows tenderly.
Bam! His beauty still hits me in the face as if I walked into a brick wall.
His confidence is moving and intoxicating. "Baby doll, you want to leave now? The day isn't over and I'm hoping that we could talk more." I felt as if he spoke these words too enthusiastically as if he were trying to persuade me into staying.
And, God help me, I actually kind of... maybe wanted to stay. All right, all right! I do! Confusion set aside of course.
"Vincent, I really don't know what is happening here. I honestly thought this is going to be a one night thing. Maybe a one day thing. Now people are calling me your comare; which I have no idea what that means! Is this what you were implying when you asked if I'm sure this is what I wanted?" Things became clearer when I asked that. He was trying to give me an out last night and I stupidly missed my out.
There is silence for a few heart beats. I had a warm feeling shift and travel down to my sex. I just wanted to be mounted again with another orgasm in store. Screw all of the politics of the situation and let's go back to the basics.
"Okay, my associate will drive you home." He paced the kitchen before coming to give me a kiss on my cheek. "For your information, please be careful where you go at night. I'm a wanted man," he whispered in my ear causing me to tremble.
He left me alone in the kitchen so I couldn't question what he meant by him being a wanted man. Stella came into the kitchen with a bag full of my stuff.
"Adamo is waiting for you outside." She led me past the great room where the men were sitting closely and talking together.
I leaned in towards the great room and the men stopped suddenly and smiled at me. "Lovely to have met all of you. Vincent, I will leave my phone number with Stella if you wish to call me." Vincent did not say anything and the car ride home is way too quiet. I reached into my purse and found a new smart phone. Wow.
What did I just do? I had sex with a stranger and now strange things were happening. I just slept with a wanted man. I wanted to laugh at myself. That is so corny. I'm a wanted man. Could that mean that other women would target me because they want a chance with Vincent? Maybe his ego is getting a little too large.
*Chapter 3*
Upon arriving at my apartment in downtown, I texted my room mate, Anne, to let her know I'm home. The apartment building door swung open and here comes Anne. I waved goodbye to Adamo as he started to pulled away from the curb.
"Savannah! I have been so worried about you! Where have you been? Did you go home with that guy?" She ran up to me as I climbed out of the car. Anne is the one to slam the security door shut for our apartment building.
Anne led us farther into the lobby in order to get to the bank of elevators. We hit the up button on the elevator once we were inside the elevator, everything came out. "Anne! His house is so beautiful. In the car we made out and I couldn't believe that I went home with him! Everything with the divorce has me feeling crazy." The elevator door opened and we walked in. "The sex is amazing! I can't believe that is my first one night stand." The elevator door opened on the twelfth floor and we walked right to our apartment.
"Tell me what you guys did? I can't believe you went home with him. He is so hot. Did he have an accent!"
I couldn't help but giggle. We clearly were sounding like a bunch of fifth grade girls with a crush.
"He had an Italian accent. His accent made me so hot that I couldn't contain my alter slutty persona!" I opened the door to the apartment, and instantly felt the greatness of being home. I couldn't tell Anne what else happened because I still am not sure what happened.
"Am I still your date for the party tonight? We should probably go to Caridee's so we can get ready. I want to look hot so maybe I can bag a hot guy!"
We grabbed our purses and started to walk out the door. Our home phone rang and I knew who it is without hearing the message. My soon to be ex husband loved to call me on that home phone since I changed my cell phone number after I moved out of our penthouse. Upon walking out I heard a brief part of his message.
"Savannah, what's this I hear you went home with Vincent? You are still my-." I slammed the door at that part of the message. I didn't need to hear what he had to say to know that he is following me last night. What an asshole.
Even though I wanted to get back at him for being so awful to him, my divorce attorney told me to not retaliate and record all conversations. My divorce attorney also recommended that I moved into a more secure building since Joel has made some threats... but I'm tired of living in fear. I want to live life and I know it won't bring back the time I lost being with Joel, it is something I can control.
The elevator door opened, and I looked down to my cute blue jeans and ruffle top. I'm so happy I changed out of those p
ants. However, while I held them in my hands, I started to run through some of my questions. Borgata? Comare? What did all that mean? The elevator door shut and we headed to the ground floor and I turned off my confusion switch.
Underneath our building is the parking garage where each unit paid for reserved spots. "See, I brought your new Lincoln home and there isn't a scratch on it! Let's put the top down while we drive." The Lincoln is part of the settlement I received from filing for divorce. Sadly, this Lincoln is the only thing that gave me joy throughout our marriage.
"Let's get the show on the road! I want to feel beautiful today and tonight. I'm thinking about getting some highlights and painting my nails a pretty pink. What are you going to do?"
When we moved in with each other, it was for the security of living with someone going through similar circumstances as myself. Like me, she was in a long relationship, mine is a marriage but they both ended badly. We moved in together to make our rent cheaper and to keep each other company. What is amazing about our friendship is the fact that we grew up together and remained friends throughout everything in our life. And, when I say everything, I truly mean what that word implies.
My car felt amazing. I love the cream leather seats with heaters installed. It is obviously not practical to have a car in Brooklyn, but I loved it anyway. Anne climbed in next to me after I sat in the passenger seat and we drove off to the salon.
The amount of alcohol that I consumed last night has made my brain feel fuzzy and I'm not liking that too much. "I really need a killer soy chai! What about you?" I asked her while we pulled into the driveway of Starbucks. We ordered our drink and then drove off to the salon.
Once we got to the salon, I felt incredibly better. Oh, man, I needed this. I looked around the salon and noticed that things have changed since I'm last here. Like the whole theme of the place. Gone are the pinks and light blues and now the salon is silver and gold. The chairs have gems encrusted on them and the spa section now has a curtain that drapes over the section like a canopy.
Joel could be such an ass. In just a few short weeks, I will no longer be connected to him in any way. He is the one that cheated on me. I had no idea where and when he thought he could control who I see in my new life without him. I'm snapped back to reality when Anne said that she met a guy last night and his name is Ronnie.
Mm... that name sounds familiar. "What is he wearing? Was it a suit and did he have an accent?" These words stumbled out of my mouth while my stylist is putting the foils in my hair. Caridee kept yanking my chin back because I turned to look at Anne.
"If you move your head one more time, I'm dying your hair green!" Caridee said as I tried to move back to look Anne.
I gave her a mock stare down. "Bring it!"
At this point we were getting the last of our foils in and we were being walked to the pedicure chairs. Anne nodded as we put our feet in the tub. Luckily they were well staffed enough to get our fingernails painted as well.
Patience has never been an virtue that I have been blessed with.
"Why do you ask about him? Do you know him or something?" She looked at me very suspiciously through narrowed eyes like she is trying to get to the bottom of a huge mystery.
I hated lying to her. She has been there for me all of these years. However I couldn't break my promise to Vincent and his friends, not that I knew what I promised.
"Ummmmmmm. I kind of know of him." Please don't ask me anything more about it because I don't know anything more!
I picked the same light pink for both set of nails and Anne picked green. Since my dress is black I thought pink would be pretty and fem against the dress. I wish I had my jewelry box from Joel's... in it is a few pink diamond pieces from my grandmother's estate. True to form, Anne had picked a brown dress. She is always daring with her fashion sense since it supported her spunky behavior.
She kept talking about Ronnie. Mentioning how he is a close talker like Vincent. Well dressed and smelled good with an accent as well.
"Are you going to see him again? Did you exchange numbers?" My interrogation didn't have anything to do with the fact that I wanted to see Vincent again.
Yeah, I didn't even believe my own self.
She gushed and then blushed while she picked at her nails. Anne has a few tells. When she is nervous or unsure about something she always picks at her nails. "Yes, we did. He kept telling me how beautiful I am and asked to see me again. He left my side shortly after you and that man left. What is his name? Did you even tell me his name?"
"Vincent. Do you know what they do for a living? I'm dying to know! Vincent has a Bentley with an associate! If you would have seen his house you would have wondered too!" Hey, if he didn't want to tell me, I'm sure I could figure it out at a different angle.
"Savannah, your cheeks are turning red! What happened last night? No, Ronnie only said he is a business owner."
Just as my toes were in the process of being painted and my nails now have a top coat; my second phone chirped. Probably telling me that I have a text. I signaled to the woman doing my toes and got her to get the phone. Once in my hand, I smiled because I forgot it is in there.
Your Man: Hi baby doll. Its Vincent. Please keep this phone on you at all times. I really enjoyed your company. I hope to see you soon.
I really should have been frustrated that one of those people put a cell phone in my purse without letting me know, however I'm kind of excited. A little mystery.
Me: Why did you give me this phone?
There isn't a text back until later.
Wait, he put himself down as my man? Things just keep getting more and more interesting.
"Where did you get that phone? Oh!" She put her hands to her cheeks which really made the person painting her nails mad. "I told Ronnie where we were going tonight. He said he knows that hall we are going to very well. He might come!"
No wonder Vincent felt the urge to slip this stupid phone into my purse. Anne and her big mouth.
"Why would you tell him that my firm is having a party? Do you really think he would come?" I'm not sure if I'm mad that she told Ronnie something like that or if I'm mad that I'm so confused.
She nodded and continued to talk about Ronnie.
Now our nails were done and it is time to wash out our highlights. I loved getting pampered! Getting my hair done is my favorite thing to do. Now that our hair is washed we went to sit in front of the mirror the phone has to chirp.
Your Man: I gave this to you so you can get a hold of me. This phone number you have is yours only. So call me anytime.
This is getting insane. I shut off the phone told Caridee what type of hair cut I wanted. An inch later and several layers later, I began to think about last night on the stairs. How could he be so good at licking my sex and yet keep so many secrets? Anne is busy talking her stylist's ear off.
"Anne, you didn't want to go home with Ronnie? Do you think he would come tonight? Oh, Caridee, please give me a French knot with tendrils hanging down. I'm wearing my diamond drop earrings and I want to show them off! Also, we got to do my makeup the more dramatic the better!" I don't know what it is, but yesterday really got me feeling more alive. Maybe I will see him again. One question remains: what the fuck does comare mean?
"Vans, I really want to see him again. He is so hot. Do you think you will see Vincent again?"
I didn't answer her. There isn't an answer that I could give her. Yeah, we had great sex... but can there be more?
With our hair now done and our makeup complete, we started to gather our belongings and I nodded my head. We started to walk to the counter and we pulled out our debit cards.
"Ms. Castile and Miss Thomas, your tabs have been already paid for. Thank you for coming in and we will see you both next week." The secretary told us.
"Who paid our bills? What are you talking about? We didn't schedule an appointment for next week." Anne asked with her voice rising.
"Don't worry about it. It has been taken care of and yo
u guys will be here this time next week." With that we were pushed out the door.
*Chapter 4*
Once we got home we kissed each other on the cheeks and then went off to our bedrooms. The new phone chirped and I went into my purse to check it. All that is there is a smiley face and xoxo. Who is this guy? Did he and Ronnie pay our tabs? I know that it wouldn't have been cheap. Last time I got all this done it is close to four hundred dollars.
Me: Did you pay our tabs at Caridee's?"
I pulled out my dress and took off my clothes carefully to not mess up my hair or smear my makeup. Both those are things that I have done before! Totally made myself two hours late last year to this event!
"Hey! When do we have to leave? Did you call a cab or are we taking the Lincoln?"
I replied by saying we are getting a limo sent here. Surprisingly enough my business is taking off. I have sold a few penthouses this month and that helped my pocket book out big time. With my impending divorce I need as much money as I can. Who knows how dirty Joel will play.
