He tore his gaze from Naya and focused on the doctor, smiling. “I’m good. Great. Lookin’ forward to findin’ out where life takes me next.”
Beth’s mouth pulled up into a smile, and she nodded approvingly. Angus looked back at Naya, who was smiling up at him now, and for what might have been the first time in his life, he was filled with a sense of accomplishment. He’d sworn he would keep Naya safe, that he wouldn’t fail yet another person, and he’d done it. They were safe. They were going to be okay.
The End
(For now, anyway.)

Acknowledgments
It’s been more than six years since Broken World was published, and more than eight since I started writing it. I’ve said this time and time again over the years, but when I started creating this world, I didn’t expect much. Editors and agents in the literary industry were adamant that there was no real market for zombie books, but the idea for these characters wouldn’t leave me alone, so I went with it, hoping I would sell one or two books to people other than friends and family. Years later, I still can’t believe how well this series did. Not because it isn’t good—I love these characters and this world—but because I didn’t expect it. I had almost no marketing budget and had to rely mostly on word of mouth, but somehow it worked. Since its release in 2014, I’ve sold over seven thousand ebooks, had millions of pages read, and had over a hundred thousand downloads for Broken World alone. All these years later, this series still outsells all my other books, and I’m so thankful for the fans who have made it a success.
I hope you enjoyed seeing more of Angus, and having just finished this epic story—it’s seriously the longest book I’ve ever written—I know you’re wondering one thing. Will there be more? I don’t know. Honestly, I have so many story ideas, and there just isn’t enough time to get them all out of my head. Plus, as much as I love this series, I don’t want to only write about zombies. Having put two zombie books out this month, they’re pretty much all I’ve focused on recently, and I’m ready to spend some time on something else. That doesn’t mean, however, that I won’t ever return to this world. I definitely have plans for a couple other characters fans will be familiar with, and there’s definitely room to expand on Angus’s story now that he’s made it somewhere safe. However, even if I write more, it won’t be immediate. So please be patient with me.
I have soooo many people to thank for making this series what it is, so forgive me if I forget to mention you. I’m doing my best to remember the people who helped me over the years, but it’s been a lot of books and a lot of time, and I may forget someone.
First off, of course, I need to acknowledge the inspiration for these characters by saying a big thank you to Robert Kirkman and the entire cast, crew, and creators of The Walking Dead. I’ve never tried to hide the fact that I was inspired by Daryl and Merle Dixon, and I’m smart enough to know that without the success of that show, this series would not have been such a big hit. So, to everyone who worked to bring the zombie apocalypse to life, thank you.
Thanks go to my very first readers of Broken World: Erin Rose, Sarah McVay, Tammy Brewer-Moore, Jeremy Mary, Russ James, and Lisa Terry. To other people who read and critiqued over the years: Jen Naumann, Laura Johnsen, Carey Monroe, Mary Jones, Jennifer Foor, Karen Atkinson, Courtnee McGrew, Julie Dewey, Lori Whitwam, and Tina Young. To the members of NAC who helped spread the word: Diana Gardin, Ara Grigorian, Meredith Tate, Annika Sharma, Marie Meyer, Sophia Henry, Marnee Blake, Missy Belote, Jamie Howard, Jessica Ruddick, Amanda Seger, and Laura Steven. To family members who have devoured my books and encouraged me: Rebekah Caillouet, Peggy Mary, Sue Hale, Cyndi Caillouet, Amy Mary, and Clint Caillouet. And a special thank you to my first reader for all my projects over the last several years: Jan Strohecker. Thank you for reading and critiquing and bringing up questions I never thought to ask, for keeping track of details and helping me polish the plot. You rock!
A huge thank you goes out to every person who has ever taken a chance on me. To everyone who saw a new author and thought I’ll give it a shot, to every person who decided to try out a zombie book even though it wasn’t normally their thing, to every reader who loved it and told a friend, and to every person who took the time to leave a review or send me a message telling me how much they enjoyed the series. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I cannot say it enough.
Thanks to Amber Garcia for the PR expertise and Lori Whitwam for the editing.
I feel like more should be said, but basically it all comes down to this: if you’re reading this right now, I want to thank you. Thanks for falling in love with Angus and the rest of his group, and thanks for sticking around after all these years. I appreciate all my fans more than I can say. Really.

many different parts of the country, and it isn’t uncommon to find some of the places she’s lived as the setting for her books. She’s lived in Georgia (When We Were Human), Mississippi, South Carolina (The College of Charleston Series), California (Broken World), and Oklahoma (The Loudest Silence), but has recently returned to the Dayton, Ohio area (The Blood Will Dry, Collision).
