Shaking his head, Brave came up to the side of the bed and hugged him. “Don’t fucking thank me. I love you. You’re the only family I have, and I’m lucky you didn’t give up on me. Now, to top it off, I owe you my life.”

“You would have done the same for me.”

“Yeah, but unfortunately I wasn’t fast enough this time.” Brave ruffled his hair. “I get dibs on taking down the next psycho.”

“How about we avoid the psychos?”

“That is a very good idea.” Danica slipped into the room beside the doctor, holding her bottom lip between her lips and shooting the doctor a questioning look. When he smiled and motioned her toward the bed, she practically slid to Alder’s side.

Her hug was even more careful than Brave’s had been.

“You look amazing, Alder.” She cupped his face in his hands and kissed his lips, slow and gentle, but the taste of her, her soft breasts pressing against his arm, made it very clear he’d regained enough blood in his body to fill his swelling cock. “Do you know how soon you can come home?”

“Soon I hope, because I don’t need to see that.” Brave exchanged a look with the doctor. “I think he’s good to go.”

“Not quite, but I’d say another day or so, if he remains stable, he can be released.” The doctor stepped aside to let Jesse in. “I have to see to my other patients, but I wanted to speak to you both now that Alder is awake.” He nodded his head toward Alder. “In my professional opinion, Brave should go home before he ends up needing to be admitted himself. If he could bring the fans that have been parked out in front of the hospital with him, that would be appreciated.”

Brave snorted and grabbed his jacket off the back of the chair he’d been sleeping with. “I won’t bring them all home, Doc. But I can manage a few.”

Jesse laughed as Brave sauntered out of the room. He came around the bed to sit on Alder’s other side. “I’d say he’s gonna be fine. He won’t be sleeping. For a few hours at least.”

“And on that note, I’ll leave you three to enjoy your visit.” The doctor paused on the way out. “Not that it needs to be said, but Alder has not healed enough for any kind of physical activity.”

Danica’s face went red. “Of course, Doctor. We wouldn’t… Umm, thank you.”

The doctor inclined his head, then left.

Finally, he had Danica and Jesse alone. Which was weird, because it hadn’t felt like they’d been apart until he found out how long he’d been unconscious. He wanted to know what they’d been doing.

But his body was not cooperating. His eyelids felt like they had bricks weighing them down.

Lying on her side on the edge of the bed, Danica brought her lips close to his ear. “You need your sleep, Alder. Don’t fight it. We need you all better so we can bring you home.”

He felt Jesse’s hand on the back of his neck, rubbing gently.

Which made him even more tired. But he fought to stay awake. “I missed you. And I slept for a long fucking time.”

“We’re going to be right here.” Jesse kissed his temple. “Don’t argue with us. One of the benefits of a threesome is you’re always outnumbered.”

“Always?” Alder’s whole body got heavier. Danica’s soft breaths and Jesse’s massage lulled him closer and closer to sleep. “That doesn’t sound fair.”

“What happened to you wasn’t fair. Us making sure you’re left with nothing but a battle scar? Couldn’t be more fair.” Jesse’s voice deepened, becoming low and soothing. “The next few days are nothing. Danica and I had a crash course on how to live together. When you get home, it will be the beginning of a whole bunch of awesome. And sex. Lots and lots of sex.”

Alder didn’t hear much more after that, but damn, he couldn’t wait to have it all.

Actually, he didn’t have to wait.

  I have it all now.

  Epilogue

  Ordered perfection,

  Ugly as sin.

Paint the world in dull hues.

Leave the monster under my bed.

  Three months later

Black paint covered every inch of Danica’s body. The long black nails on her fingers classified as lethal weapons. The process of putting her costume on took almost four hours and three theatrical makeup artists.

Every day. For the past week.

But getting all done up, in a warehouse designed to look like a dollhouse built in the pits of hell, was the most fun she’d ever had. She couldn’t freaking wait to see how the music video turned out.

With her makeup done, she was allowed to go watch the guys for a bit. So long as no one touched her. Or kissed her. Or so much as breathed too close.

The last time Jesse had snuck a quick kiss backstage, the head of hair and makeup had called Sophie and the band’s new manager.

No way in hell would she risk getting that lecture again. Reese Griffith, who’d been the manager of Winter’s Wrath for almost two months, was considered by the band as Sophie’s evil twin. She ran the band like a drill sergeant, had hired bodyguards, and promoted Jesse to tour manager. In other words, she was a godsend.

And as much as the guys grumbled about the routine drugs tests they were now forced to take, and the strict schedule that she’d set up for recording the new album and their upcoming European tour, they all worshiped the ground she walked on.

This music video alone was proof that the band had made a breakthrough in the music business. She promoted them so well, their dwindling sales had spiked within a week of hiring her. They were headlining every single one of their future shows.

Their music had hit the top of the metal charts. Including Subsist, which had been released as a single last month. And was getting the band’s first big budget music video.

Hearing the long, creepy notes sent a shiver up her spine. She’d heard the song a hundred times, but she still loved it. The message was deep and twisted, stolen innocence, wanting to keep the dreams and the nightmares rather than face a conformed reality. She played the demon and the innocent girl in the video. The girl scenes had been filmed already, and she’d gotten a peek at the footage.

She’d done an awesome job, if she did say so herself. Sophie had talked up her acting abilities to Reese when the manager decided to re-evaluate all the contracts Cole had drawn up.

Reese had watched some of her old performances and looked over her profile. Then said the sweetest thing.

“I was afraid the band was settling on you because they didn’t want the expense of hiring a more experienced actress.” Reese passed the contract she’d already gone over with Sophie across the desk in her office and smiled at Danica. “Now I believe they were lucky to find you before you got a better offer.”

The contract left time for ‘better offers’, but ensured she’d be available for all the band’s bigger shows. Which was absolutely perfect.

Actually, everything was pretty much perfect.

“Fuck, I can’t get over how hot you look.” The words sounded like Jesse, but it was Alder. He came up from behind her, looking like he desperately wanted to touch her. But Reese had trained them all well.

“You’re looking pretty damn sexy yourself.” Danica’s gaze took in his wiry body, his wide, bare chest covered with fake blood, the bruises painted on his face making him look rugged and wild. Even his torn jeans turned her on. She wanted to rip them the rest of the way off.

“Too bad that makeup is so uncomfortable.” He circled her, the hungry way his eyes trailed over her, and the way his breath brushed over his skin as he got as close as he could without touching her, sent lust pooling in her core. “I’d ask you to leave it on tonight.”

She licked her bottom lip. “I could leave my nails on. If you don’t mind a few more scars.”

“And if you want to look like you’ve been mauled.” Jesse stepped out of the set that looked like a little boy’s room. “Sorry to interrupt, but you’re scheduled to be jumping on the bed now. If you don’t do it within five takes this time, the d
irector said he’s hiring a body double.”

“Why can’t they just use Tate’s clips? He looks like he’s having fun.” Alder rolled his eyes at Jesse’s blank look. “The rest of us feel stupid. We put it to a vote and—”

“Reese heard. She vetoes your vote.” Jesse smirked. “Tate breaking the walls with a guitar wouldn’t make any sense. Just fucking get it over with so we’re not pulling another twelve hour day.”

“Yes, you know Jesse needs his beauty sleep.” Danica batted her eyelashes when Jesse frowned at her. “And you know I’m never on your side when you’re being a jerk.”

“I’m not being a jerk, I—” He cut himself off and glanced over at Alder. “Is this one of the times where I have to tell her she’s right?”

“If you haven’t figured that out yet, Jesse, you never will.” Alder chuckled at Jesse’s heavy sigh. “Do you need me to step in again?”

  “Please do.”

“You both better be joking or I’m out of here.” Danica moved to cross her arms, stopping just in time to save her earning the hatred of her makeup crew. “And I was going to put up with this—” She trailed her hand down her side, carefully touching nothing but air. “—for a few more hours so we could enjoy my last night as a demon.”

Jesse tugged his bottom lip between his teeth in a way that she found fucking erotic. It reminded her of how fucking talented he was with his mouth. He let out a low groan.

Then abruptly flashed her his most charming smile. “You’re so right, gorgeous. I’m being a jerk. Doing my job, but still being a jerk.”

“No you’re right. Alder, go jump on the bed.” She winked at Jesse when his lips parted. “I love you.”

She also loved how easy he was to fuck with.

Making her way to her own set, which was a girl’s room with a huge bed that she’d spent a lot of time crawling out from under, Danica thought over how much her life had changed. She’d gone from being a model struggling to find work, to having a contract with one of the biggest up and coming metal bands in the music industry. From not having any desire to let a relationship get in the way of her career to finding two men who supported her in every way.

Loving them both wasn’t something she’d ever planned on, but she couldn’t picture her life without them anymore. And didn’t want to. Even when Alder got quiet and overthought everything, or when Jesse was messy and said the kind of things that belonged in a men’s locker room, she loved them.

That the sex was incredible and they still couldn’t get enough of each other was a definite plus.

Yep, she’d definitely be wearing the paint tonight.

  About the Author

Tell you about me? Hmm, well, there’s not much to say. I love hockey and cars and my kids…not in that order, of course! Lol! When I’m not writing—which isn’t often—I’m usually watching a game or a car show while networking. Going out with my kids is my only downtime. I get to clear my head and forget everything.

As for when and why I first started writing, I guess I thought I’d get extra cookies if I was quiet for a while—that’s how young I was. I used to bring my grandmother barely legible pages filled with tales of evil unicorns. She told me then that I would be a famous author.

I hope one day to prove her right.
