The three Germans, waited in Montpelier, Vermont for the train to arrive. It arrived late in blizzard conditions. While the train crew took refuge, the Germans managed to unload ten tons of gold placing it in the basement of the museum close by. The three Germans were part of the construction crew that was remodeling the Museum. In the basement, a brick wall was hastily put up hiding the gold.

The Germans decided to wait until the war ended and then make a plan to remove the treasure and sell it. However, fate has a way of dealing a bad hand once in awhile. Two of the three Germans fell dead to accidents and only Albert and Alina Muller were left the spoils of war. Unfortunately, Albert Muller never made it past sixty leaving behind Alina and two daughters.

Consequently, a male was needed to man handle the heavy gold. Alina had to wait until her grandson was both old and smart enough to take on the challenge. Now, she felt time was running out on her life clock. It was time to pass on the almost seventy year old secret.

The stress from the last mission took its toll on Brad Pratt and his Batt team. He gave everyone a month off, including himself. Brad stood on the cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean from the back of his property. He looked down into Devil Kitchen remembering the laughter of the SEAL team camping out training for the North Korean mission to come. Now they were but a memory, but they knew the risk and gladly accepted the challenge. Brad saluted towards the Pacific with sadness in his heart saying good bye to his friend's. He didn't think there would be a next time, but he was wrong.

Billy Rider walked up coughing from too many Marlboro cigarettes. Rocky, Brad's German shepherd dog, wagged his tail at Billy. He said, "Sorry to disturb you boss, but Washington, or I should say Nancy, wants to talk to you real bad. I told her you were on the beach and wouldn't be back for an hour or so."

Billy flashed back on the phone call with Nancy Longstreet. She said, "Billy, you're not going to believe this but the President wants to see Brad soonest he can. I have no idea why, but Steve Lewis told me it's imperative that Brad and his team be ready to prepare for another mission.

To my readers: I appreciate your interest in my Brad Pratt novels. There has been more than 4000 downloads of the first novel: 'John: The Senior Killer.' The second novel, 'Systematic Attrition' has sold surprisingly more copies than I anticipated. All of this pleases me to no end.

First I apologize for any and all mistakes in my novels. I can't afford to have a professional editor. I'm retired living in the Philippines with my Pina wife. Friends are not editors. I bother no one. I do my best, but mistakes happen. I love telling a story and hope you continue to enjoy my novels. They are priced low so anyone can afford a couple bucks to enjoy many hours of reading pleasure.
