To everyone who has been awesome and following this series, a huge thank you. Your readership of my work is what keeps me going. I know it’s not perfect, and my stories are not creating any kind of sweeping social change, but I hope the stories provide a good escape. I need an escape from life’s pressures—fairly often—and I turn to fiction. I appreciate your reading so that I have someone to write for.
Finally, I have to thank my kids for their help with this book. They endured a partial reading of it while on a drive through the desert. My teenage daughter insisted I send her the balance of the book, and then she read it in one night, while the plot was still in first-draft brokenness. They gave me polite smiles and courtesy nods when I showed them the cover art. Best of all, they knew I was stewing over it and prayed for me—aloud, and often. I’m not sure what I ever did to be so blessed with such kids, but wow, they are super supportive.
BONUS BECAUSE YOU’RE STILL READING: PIPER’S WINNING RECIPE
Jalapeño Corn for a Crowd
I’m part of a huge family who loves to eat, so I make a giant batch of this, as I include. You can scale it down. It’s flexible, and tough to ruin. It’s become a Thanksgiving staple. They always laugh, since I’m the non-native Arizonan in the family, and I bring the spiciest thing to the holiday table.
6 1-lb bags of frozen white corn
2 8-oz cubes cream cheese
2 cubes butter
5-6 jalapeño peppers (seeded if you’re scared of heat)
4-6 cloves of garlic, crushed
Salt, pepper, season salt to taste
Thaw corn separately (warm and drain out excess water). Combine other ingredients on stovetop until melted and creamy. Pour cream over corn. Cook on stovetop (or in oven or crock pot) until peppers are tender. Even better the second day.
About the Author
Jennifer Griffith lives in Arizona with her husband who is a judge and her muse. They are raising their five brilliant children in the desert and feeding them too many Otter Pops. Jennifer writes light, sweet romances she calls Cotton Candy for the Soul. Her Legally in Love Collection stems from the fact she fell in love with a handsome law school student who now serves as a judge—as well as her muse. She also writes the Millionaire Makeover Romances, millionaires and makeovers being some things with which she has less experience.
Jennifer loves old cars, landscape paintings, fresh bread with raspberry jam, and reading. She lived in Japan during college, where she once ate a cricket on a dare. She also traveled through Europe, where she slept a night in a castle on the Rhine. Jennifer worked summers in a cookie factory, and she spent a few years working for the U.S. Congress before becoming a wife, a mom and an author.
All her books, from lawyers, to billionaires, to time-traveling pop-stars can be found here.
