“It is okay, Mom. I turned out just fine.”
“Because of Marcus. Please, tell him we thank him for taking such good care of you. I knew I liked him for a reason.” Michael told them.
“Of course.”
Anastasia walked up to Zara and stood beside her. “I am sorry, but it is not good to assist with magic like this for the dead to speak for too long. I am to end this spell in a moment or two.”
“Thank you, Anastasia.” Zara had said to her in a soft tone and then looked back to her parents.
“We will leave you with these words. We are beyond proud of you. You are everything we ever hoped you would be. We know that you will continue to prove to us that we have made the right decision. It broke our hearts that we could not tell you anything, but we could not risk telling you any information and ruin this timeline.” Michael said.
“What do you mean?” Atara had asked.
“We do not have time. We love you, Zara and Atara. You have made us proud. I know in my soul that you will continue this path and become everything you were destined to be. Lead our people with strength, courage, and love. Lead them with everything that you are and everything we know you will be.”
Michael and Danni continued to smile as they began to fade. Zara had seen tears rolling down their cheeks as they both mouthed, we love you.
Zara spoke at the same time as Atara, “goodbye, mom and dad.”
Zara could not hold it in. She was doing her best to not cry in front of the wolves in fear that they would see it as weakness from their new aspiring alpha. Her throat was tight and could only intake short breaths. Tears streamed down her face. She was not crying of sadness, but of closure. Zara had always dreamed of getting the chance of telling her parents goodbye. She did not get that chance the day Cyrus invaded their camp and her mother casted the spells to ensure their future.
As she looked to her right, her sister was doing the same as her. Zara opened her arms and Atara walked into them. They held on to each other tightly as they mourned for their parents. But only for a minute or two.
“GIRLS!” Raven exclaimed.
Zara ran the short distance to where her aunt stood. The Coven twins were illuminated in their auras and power pulsed off them in waves. Hunter in his vibrant green and Jaxxon in his pale yellow. Their eyes were rolled back into their heads, Hunter’s left arm intertwined with Jaxxon’s right arm and their hand was on the other’s shoulder. Their mouths were moving, yet no words were spoken. Zara looked to Raven for an explanation. Before she could give one, the Divination Twins’ heads snapped toward where Zara and Atara stood. Their eyes were still white, but the irises matched their magic’s color. Zara’s hair on her arms and the back of her neck stood up. This shit is eerie.
From the blood and death of the battle
Comes forth a shadow that will rattle
The magic of four will be paused
A heart will lose the fight for their cause
The rise of the dead will be threatened
One must not fall and become The Weapon
The hunt begins for the children of the moon
One must fall or all is doomed
A killer's soul is tested by Fate
For all is saved by a bonded Mate
Seven witches must avail
For the test that each follows a different trail
To find the treasure that they seek
For a kingdom will fall unless they keep
A hidden gem must be found
For the soul of elements has bound
The time will come when where wits are tested
When the moon is at its crescent
For all these souls are intertwined
All must bow at one time
When the moon is covered by darkness
We cast this evil into the ancient abyss
As quickly as it came, their power cut out. Hunter and Jaxxon’s aura disappeared along with their power display. They were blinking a few times as if their vision was not in focus. Raven walked over to them and whispered to them. Even with Zara’s werewolf hearing, she could not hear what was said. Then Raven’s navy-blue magic swirled around her hands. She flicked her wrist and a portal formed for the twins to walk through. Raven looked to her coven and one by one they walked through the portal.
Zara was confused but waited patiently for her aunt to finish being a High Priestess. It did not take long for the rest of the coven to walk through the portal. Once she was the only one to remain, she turned to face Zara and Atara. “We will discuss this after the ceremony. Go home and rest.” Atara growled at their aunt. “What the hell was that?” Then it all clicked for Zara. “Oh, my Goddess! That was a prophecy?!” Raven nodded. Zara opened her mouth to say something else and her aunt held up her hand. “Go home. Rest. We will discuss this after you are crowned.”
Wonderful. We have been Alpha’s for ten minutes and now we are to face a new prophecy.
Chapter Thirty-Five: Sophia
Today was the day that Sophia prayed to the Goddess every day that she would get to witness. Atara and Zara being crowned to be the Alpha of all Werewolves. Since the day Zara showed up on their doorstep, she loved this girl as if she had birthed her. Now she was fulfilling everything her Danni and Michael had dreamed and more.
The ceremony was to take place in the castle’s courtyard. Wolves from all over the realm had come to witness the coronation. Sophia, Lucus and Raven busied themselves with creating the ceremony’s decorations and style. The girls were to walk through the line of all the wolves on either side of them. At the end, they would normally kneel before the King or Queen before them to finish the ceremony. Instead, they will walk to a basin of each wolves’ blood. They would speak the incantation, add their own blood, use a chalice to collect it and drink it so each wolf would be bonded to them.
Sophia watched as Zara had walked through the door, her back was straight, and her chin was up high. Tobias had stood next to her. She was walking proudly as she should be alongside her mate. Zara and Tobias were wearing their battle armor of the Elementals, accompanied with the fabric around their waist of the colors of the elements they wielded. Instead of being the battle black, it was white signifying it was ceremonial. Strapped to Zara’s legs were her trusty knives that had become her trademark and Sophia also noticed she was barefoot. Her aura was vibrant and strong. It pulsed with power Sophia had never felt before. The aura was her pearlish hue with her wolf’s blue, the silver mixed within the blue, and now the colors of the elements she wielded shot across within it like lightning bolts.
Sophia’s eyes were pooled with tears that streamed down her face. Her pride within her adopted daughter radiated within her. Xander was across from her, as they were the first wolves within the line for Zara and Atara to walk through. When Zara reached the last step, Atara did not follow. Where is Atara?
Marcus:
Marcus noticed that Atara did not follow Zara. He knew that she did not plan to walk alongside Zara as the ceremony would dictate if it was a male and female wolf claiming the throne. He had discussed this with them both and they decided against it. Atara had something else in mind.
“I do not want the throne.” She told him.
“What? Why the hell not?” He asked her.
“Over the last few weeks, I realized that it would not make sense for both of us to take the throne. When we both have mates, assuming I find mine, four people would rule the realm? That would be confusing. Even the magic of the bond would go screwy. No.”
“Then what are you proposing? You were both to take the throne.”
“Not necessarily. The prophecy stated that we would dethrone the king. It did not say we would rule side by side.”
“Enough with the legalities. What are you proposing?”
“I have trained my whole life to uphold the Werewolf Laws and become the Enforcer of the Kingdom pack. I was proud to train to become that rank. I put so much blood, sweat, tears and work into becoming an Enf
orcer. Zara can lead. She was born for that role. She has already shown the Elemental Realm that she will be an amazing Queen. When she was abducted, even the people became fearful that they lost the Queen they wanted to grow to love. She was Queen for three days!” Atara had stopped for a moment and looked at Marcus with love in her blue-green eyes. Something that he was not used to seeing within them. “My sister will become the Alpha of Werewolves. I will be an Enforcer. The very position I was to become. We feel it in our bones… in our magic! This is how it was supposed to be from the beginning.”
Marcus wanted to say something else to his adopted daughter, but she cut him off.
“I want this, Marcus. This was my decision. I will be Enforcer and Beta. Just like my dad.”
How can I argue with that?
Marcus had agreed the proposition and discussed with Zara on what she needed to do to declare Atara as the Enforcer. Now Zara was halfway down the line of wolves, where he was in the line. He tipped his head down to her and smiled. She had winked at him and continued down the walkway. He felt her power radiating off her as soon as she walked through the door. Atara was right, this seemed to suit her.
Then he looked to the door. Atara stood in the doorway, proudly watching her sister walk before her. Marcus’s smile reached his ears as she walked forward, the same proud stance as she walked as Zara. She wore armor like Zara’s, but it was in normal black pants with knives strapped to her legs, a plain black shirt that looked as though it was more than meets the eye. Is her magic creating armor within her clothes? She was wearing black boots and gloves. The gloves only covered her palm and back of her hand with her fingers uncovered. Her obsidian black aura pulsed around her. He had noticed the gold within and wondered if that was her wolf’s magic, but then noticed hints of dark gray. That felt like the wolf’s power. What the hell is the gold?
Xander:
Marcus had briefed Xander on the girls’ choice on the ranks that they would be claiming on this day. He agreed that they were making the right decision and knew the realm would be in the best hands. King Krimm was a wonderful king and Michael was a powerful Enforcer. Zara and Atara? They were far more than those before them for these positions and Xander only expected incredible things after this day.
After Zara and Tobias reached the basin, Atara walked behind her and kneeled. All the wolves now walked the same path in pairs and then lined up behind the girls to witness the ceremony. Zara cut open her hand and bled into the basin. “I, Zara Wolfsbane, claim the bonds of the Werewolves as my own. I vow to lead our people to prosperity, govern with an open mind and open soul, create laws that only benefit the people, and love each wolf as if they were my own. I will bear the responsibility of each decision I make while I sit upon the throne. I will lead our people to battle only to protect our realm from threats of any kind. With my heart, soul, and body I now will drink the blood of my people and calm the throne.” Zara drank the blood and her body began to illuminate. He knew the bonds were forming within Zara and connecting to her soul. Tobias repeated what Zara had said and drank some of the blood as well.
Zara then turned to look at her sister. Her smile was bigger than he ever saw her have. Pride did not fit the feeling that he felt. It was much more. It all welled up in his chest for the daughter that may not be his blood, but she was by his soul. Zara looked out to the crowd.
“Here kneels Atara Wolfsbane. She is to claim the position of Enforcer of the Kingdom pack and of the Werewolf Realm. She will vow to uphold our laws with her mind, body, and soul. She will vow to defend our realm with every breath that she breaths until it is her last. Rise, Atara Wolfsbane.”
Atara did as she was told. “Atara Wolfsbane. Will you vow to uphold our laws with your mind, body, and soul?”
“Until my dying day, my Queen.”
“Will you vow to defend our realm with every breath?”
“Until my final breath leaves my body.”
Atara moved to stand next to Zara. She did not need to cut open her hand, for she did that along with the other wolves. Marcus had collected it and added it in before the ceremony. Tobias had handed her the chalice and she drank the rest. Then they both looked out to the crowd and they both had a fierce look on their faces as they addressed the wolves they had just vowed to govern and protect. “I announce to you, Atara Wolfsbane. Enforcer of the Werewolf Realm and Kingdom Pack. Hail to your Enforcer.”
Everyone said in unison, “hail, Enforcer Atara.”
Atara stepped forward, “Hail to your Queen, Zara Wolfsbane and King Tobias.”
Everyone said in unison. “hail, Queen Zara and King Tobias!”
Epilogue:
The Sorcerer’s rage caused him to throw magic and make the desk within his library explode into pieces. His library was wall to wall of bookshelves with hundreds of books of shadows on its shelves. The book shelfs reached the ceiling which were around ten feet tall. The middle of the white ceiling curved into a dome. The floor was made of lapis lazuli and the very few spots that did not have bookshelves were also paneled with lapis lazuli. He stomped around the room and pulled a book to skim through its contents. When he did not find a spell that he was looking for, he tossed it behind him and pulled another one off the shelf. Half of the books were off the shelves he had thrown a few across the room.
His black and maroon red aura pulsed around him. Around his salt and pepper hair it appeared to flare around him like fire as he rampaged around the room. His black slacks and black button up shirt began to smolder as his magic increased with his rage. It was not normal for magic to burn through clothes, but his magic fed off his ire due to his level of black and blood magic use.
The air within the room grew dark and pulsed with a dark purple magic. The Sorcerer threw his maroon and black magical energy toward the man that stepped out of the shadows. His face was the shape of a diamond, his hair a dark shade of purple that almost looked black, and his eyes were lavender with a dark violent ring on the outer edge of the iris. He had sharp, chiseled cheekbones, and downward turned lips. Since the Sorcerer had met this man, he had only known him to wear no emotions. His build was on the slender side and the Sorcerer felt as though that when you looked at this man, you would not know the power that he wielded.
Donovan was an Elemental and Witch hybrid. Due to his Witch genes, he was born with the specialty to strip the magic from its user and cause them to be in a coma for a short period of time. His element was the Shadow element and it was going to come in handy for the Sorcerer.
The Sorcerer displayed a smile that tended to make people cower before him as he looked over to Donovan.
“I heard your mutt failed.” Donovan said with a wry smile.
The Sorcerer snarled at him. “Do not mention that waste of magic to me. I gave that mongrel power and he wasted it. He sat on his lazy ass and did nothing with it. Granted, I did not plan to use him just yet for I was moving others into play. That did not mean he could sit on his laurels and waste everything I had given him! Those wolves were doing whatever they wanted as he focused on turning that hybrid into a weapon. AND FOR WHAT? That girl turned on him and won in the end!” His magic blasted around him and sent more books to fly off the shelves.
“Calm down, old man.”
The Sorcerer glared at him. “Do not test me.”
“I am guessing that we will be putting me in play?”
“You guessed correctly.”
“What’s my mark?”
“There is a Lunar Coven member who wields the power of Necromancy. Bring her to me. I now know how I can make those wolves fall into line.”
