The Cowboy Who Strolled Into Town

“Please, just tell me why being a hero is so bad?” she finally said, pleading at him with her eyes to give her some sense of understanding.
“Because I'm not a hero! Don't you understand? That place...its hell, and I'm not a hero. I didn't do any good over there. There's no good over there and I don't want you thinking I'm something I'm not. I don't want to remember that time because all I remember is the pain on people's faces and the looks of my friends when they died. I didn't do anything over there to deserve this. Why should I have come back and not them? Why did they all have to die? It's not fair. They were all good men, and all the children as well, oh God the children...it just makes me wonder what the point of it all is. I don't feel like I did any good out there...” Riley paced back and forth. His entire body was tense. His arms were being held rigidly by his side and his face was contorted into a stern expression. His words were full of bitterness and self-recrimination, and it was clear that although Jenna loved him, he hated himself, and what he used to be.
Jenna felt great sorrow swell up inside her as she listened to what he had to say. She walked up to him and put her arm around him. But he turned away and walked into the house. His shoulders were hunched and he looked defeated. Into the darkness he walked. Following him, Jenna turned on a lamp, which provided some dim light to the room. Riley was sitting on the couch, leaning forward. Jenna sat beside him and wrapped her arm around his shoulders.
“When I went out there I thought I was doing what God put me on this Earth to do. I thought I was going to make everybody proud. I believed in the country. I believed in what we were doing over there but I didn't realize how bad it was. You should have seen it Jenna. So many people, starving and lonely. There's so much of life they miss out on, so much that they'll never get to see. And yet somehow they still manage to smile. They still manage to have a life...until it's taken away from them. I don't know how I'm supposed to live after that. How am I supposed to come back here and live with everything around me, knowing that back there they have nothing but war? I can't go back Jenna, and I don't want to think about it. All it does is make me want to cry.” After saying this he wiped a tear from his eye, although he tried to shield it from Jenna.
“Liam told me you saved all of those children. They're all alive because of you,” she said, moving around to her knees so that she could look him in the eyes. “You say that they can still find a way to smile. Maybe that's all any of us can do. We don't get to choose where we're born or what happens around us, we can only choose our reactions. They've chosen happiness. I'm not saying the war should be celebrated but don't you think it's wonderful that they can actually find happiness in the face of something so terrible? Isn't that what you're fighting for? To give them the chance to smile? And if they can be happy is it so bad that you are?” she said, imploring him to change his mind set and look at things from a different perspective. He looked so different now than what she was used to. Ordinarily he was so strong, so confident, but here he looked like a broken man, weak and defeated, but it didn't make Jenna love him any less.
“He didn't tell you what happened afterwards,” Riley said in a strained voice, “a few weeks later the whole village was bombed because they were getting supplies from us. There were no winners there,” he said, and Jenna reeled back in shock. As Riley spoke he looked into the distance, past Jenna, past the walls of the house, almost as if he was peering back in time to that day when the dusty ground was being shot with bullets and the air was being split but gunfire. He swallowed hard and sat in silence.
Now Jenna understood why Riley had wanted to hide his past from her. It wasn't because he'd done anything terrible, it was because he didn't feel like he deserved all the adulation. Her heart was filled with love. She took his head in her hands and looked directly into her eyes.
“You might want to forget what happened but that doesn't make you any less of a hero. You're amazing Riley, the most amazing man I've ever known and I don't care if you don't believe me because I'm going to be standing here telling you that for the rest of my life. You shouldn't feel guilty for moving on with your life. You're a good man, a kind, sweet man, and you deserve life. You have been given the chance to live. Don't waste it on remorse. Try and smile, like the little children did” she said, and knew exactly what he needed – a connection to the physical world, a reminder that he mattered.
She took his hand and led him upstairs to her bedroom, turning off the lamp on the way. Through the darkness they walked and when they reached her room still they did not turn on the lights. They didn't need any light. They were cast in the shadow of their love. They were so intimately close that they knew every part of each other’s bodies and they didn't need light to guide them.
First they stood up and stared at each other. As their eyes adjusted they could see the soft light of the moon being reflected in each other’s eyes. They stood close to each other and breathed in each other’s scent, finding comfort in each other. She undressed him slowly and laid him down on the bed. Like a nurse taking care of a patient she took care of him and massaged his skin, easing the tension out of his muscles after she had peeled his clothes away. In silence she knelt beside him and rubbed his skin. At first he protested but she batted his hands away. Whenever he went to speak she placed her palm over his mouth and shook her head, smiling coyly. Her hands ran over his body, as did her mouth, and she explored the familiar territory. She knew exactly where his sweet spots were and she found them expertly, teasing and toying with him. Riley moaned with satisfaction as he sank into the bed and closed his eyes, enjoying the pleasure that Jenna was making surge through his body.
She ran down the middle of chest and her tongue trailed down his rippling abs. Her hands slid over his bulging biceps and she squeezed hard before moving up to caress his broad shoulders. Her hand ran over his mouth and she felt his hot breath wash over her fingers as they slipped in between his lips. She gasped as his teeth bit into them, and then smiled. Her fingers ran through his hair and stroked his scalp while her body slid over his like a snake. She felt him grow harder underneath her and pressed her ample breasts into him, suffocating his erection. Their flesh mixed and again she smiled at the site of the two complexions mixing together. Her dark waves crashed into his pale mountains and created a tumultuous, thunderous storm that seized both their souls.
Riley's hands reached down and pulled her hair back, watching her slide all around his body, leaving a trail of glistening saliva before she descended lower and lower. Her sweet breath tickled his skin as she moved closer to his burning erection, and as she slipped in between his thighs he arched his head back and let out a low grunt. His hands were still around her head and moved her. His erection lay flat and she kissed and licked it, feeling it grow to its full height under the power of her stimulation. She started to suck it softly, just the smooth tip at first, before she felt her head being pushed down. Taking him deeper and deeper, her jaws stretched as her head moved all the way down to the base of his shaft. She raised herself and took a deep breath, then did it again and again, making him tense and writhe with pleasure. She placed her hands on his stomach and thighs, then twisted her head this way and that, moving his erection so that he didn't know what she was going to do next. Then, she blew on it coolly and the change in temperature made him shiver. His entire body convulsed as she moved lower and took his balls in her mouth, sucking gently on the soft skin.
“Oh Jenna,” he moaned, and that was about all he was able to moan because he had been rendered utterly powerless because of her. She slid up his body again and kissed him softly. His hand held her close and they kissed deeply, growing more passionate as every second ticked by. Her body pressed against his while her hand continued to massage his erection, feeling it get tenser as she stimulated it, pulling the skin back slowly and then stroking it hard, mixing up the tempo and the rhythm. Riley's chest heaved and his heart raged within his chest. He was so close and she could feel it. She prepared for the hot rain to pour
down, and when he jerked violently and pressed his sweaty forehead into her body she felt him pump out his load. It showered over his body and her hands, and she felt the hot drops trickle over her skin. Excited, they kissed again, and before she could do anything else Riley pulled her up over his face, using his strength to position her and lower her down. He used his tongue to swirl and lick her out, wrapping his arms around her thighs to hold her in place. She looked down and saw him disappear inside her. It was something they hadn't done before but now that she was feeling the pleasure sweep through her she was sorry they waited this long. She balanced on him and let the sensations move through her body, feeling the tingling sensations grow more intense and more vivid. Her mind grew brighter and it was alive with everything in the universe calling her name. Riley was gorging on everything she had to give him and she was pouring out, flooding him with her aroused juices. She leaned back and he watched her beautiful form shudder above him, the pleasure swelled until it spread through every pore of her body and she moaned in deep satisfaction.
Fueled by desire and lust, Riley pulled her down and kissed her breasts and neck, biting deep into her flesh before catching her lips in his and kissing her deeply again, moving her body so that she was laying underneath him where he could dominate her with his strength. He looked in her eyes and she was surprised that he was hard again already, but he was rampant when he was with her and she had a key to his inner desire, both of them were each other’s ultimate fantasies and they couldn't get enough of each other. Their limbs entwined and their breath mingled as they gave themselves to the hot, erotic bliss. Their bodies sizzled with pulsing sweat and every inch of them throbbed. Their bodies moved closer together until they found each other, and then the two of them became one entity. They moved naturally, giving themselves to each other. It was like there were in a hazy dream, intoxicated by each other’s love and lust. Their bodies writhed and rolled around the bed, their fists gripped the sheets as the pleasure became so overwhelming they thought their souls were going to burst.
Hearts beat fiercely, but to the same rhythm. Sweat poured from their flesh as their hot skin pressed against each other. His erection reached deep inside her to her sweetest spot and made her body arch with pleasure. His hands were all over her, her lips were all over him. They were alive, as alive as any two people have ever been. Riley forgot all about the past and Jenna didn't think about the future. They were there, locked in one amazing moment that would never end. Captured and enraptured by lust and love, their bodies twisted and thrust, singing the perfect song to each other. The orgasmic energy swelled within them and they could both feel themselves transcending their mortal flesh, experiencing a higher sort of pleasure that was ethereal and heavenly.
Jenna dug her nails into him.
“I love you,” she whispered, “I fucking love you and I love fucking you, and you’re the most amazing man I've ever known. I've never given my heart to anyone before. You're the only one Riley, the only one,” she said as she gave him a deep, long kiss again. Her confession only seemed to spur him on. He took her body in his hands and held her tightly, not wanting to ever let her go.
“You're the best thing I've ever done with my life,” he replied, thrust even more deeply, even more powerfully, and Jenna thought she was going to be torn apart. He rammed and slammed and pounded her, causing her eyes to roll into the back of her head. Feeling senseless and breathless she just let the pleasure shoot through her like lightning, electrifying her skin. Short, sharp moans were lifted into the air from her mouth, while Riley grunted as the two of them brought themselves closer and closer to that sweet climax, until suddenly their bodies jerked with mutual delight and a hot volcano flowed within them. They dug their fingers into each other as they braced themselves for the force of the orgasm, which was like an earthquake and almost shattered their bones. With deep breaths and shocked expressions they sank into the bed.
“Oh my God, that was amazing,” Riley said.
“I told you, you were amazing. Will you go and talk properly with Liam now?” she said.
“I'll do whatever you want,” Riley replied. Maybe I'll even help him write his book.” They closed their eyes and snuggled up to each other, basking in the glory of each other’s love. Jenna's finger danced over his chest and she looked up at him, smiling because she had found the best man she had ever known.

“Have you heard from Liam?” Jenna asked as she let her fingers dance upon Riley's chest. She never got tired of the sight of her dark, ebony skin mixing with his milky white flesh. His long arm was loosely draped along her curvy body, and he ran it up and down, making her body tingle softly. He kissed her on the side of the head and breathed in her scent.
“How come you always smell amazing?” he asked, “And yeah, he's doing really well actually. The book is coming along and, well, I've decided that I'm going to help him with it.”
“Really?” Jenna asked, her eyes growing with surprise and excitement, “that's wonderful! I'm so glad,” she said, and gave him a firm kiss on the cheek.
“Yeah, I figure, well, I thought about what you said, and I think you're right that people will want to know about it. And I think it will be good for me to talk about it and work through my experiences.”
“I think that's wonderful. People should know what it's like for marines and how being at war can affect them. I'm proud of you for opening yourself up like that.”
“You should be proud of yourself. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't be able to. You're the one that makes me the best version of myself, or at least I'm trying to be the best version of myself.”
“I think you're pretty great,” she said, and slid over his body, kissing his neck, tasting the masculine flavor of his flesh. As her ebony curves rolled over him he moaned a little and his hands ran along her arching back, feeling her spine twist and curve as her burning thighs entwined with his own muscular legs. She ran her hands over his broad body and loved feeling the way his powerful frame was at her mercy.
“I mean it you know, I held on so long to that pain. I thought it would always be with me. Even when we first started going out I thought I could ignore it and push it deep down inside me,” he said as she continued to kiss him, running her fingers through his short blonde hair, “I thought that if I just tried I could live a normal life...whatever that is, but I was always keeping part of myself back. It wasn't fair to you because by lying to myself I was lying to you. It tore me up inside, you know, because I knew that I was keeping part of myself from you and I wanted to share everything. I wanted to give you everything I had but I just felt like I couldn't.”
“What made you change your mind in the end then?” Jenna murmured softly, taking the soft, fleshy lobe of his ear in between her teeth, tugging and sucking on it gently, enjoying the tense of his body as she drove him wild with desire. His hands tightened their grasp against her soft, supple skin as she descended into his intoxicating fragrance.
“The thought of losing you,” he said, every word strained as he tried to control the sensations thundering through his body. “When I saw how upset you were...the way you looked at me. I couldn't handle it. You're the best thing in my life. Everything else is...I don't know...I feel lost...I feel like I don't know myself anymore but when I'm with you it's much clearer.”
Jenna stopped kissing him for a moment and raised herself up. She placed her hands around his head and caressed his cheek as she looked deeply into his eyes. Her long blonde hair fell down, the ends of the strands tickled his skin. She looked upon him with his blue eyes that looked like they were made out of stardust, the full lips that were so soft and tender, and held so much pleasure for her, the face that looked upon her with love and adoration. Her eyes searched his, and sh
e spoke so softly that it was almost as whisper, as though she was imparting some deep secret of the universe to him.
“Riley...I was just as afraid as you were...afraid of losing you. Ever since we met I've been happier than I've ever been. I had given up on the idea that there were soul mates. I thought it was a stupid idea that somehow out of the grand cosmos there would be somewhere out there made for me, but the chances of that were just too great. I mean, there's what, seven billion people in the world now? How was I ever going to find the person that was made for me? But then you walked into my store and everything changed. I just knew from the moment I first saw you that it was going to be something special. It's like when my mom used to tell me about the first time she met dad, and now I know the way she used to feel.”
“You never talk about your mom much,” he said, stroking her hair. She looked down for he was approaching the most intimate part of her, the place in her heart where she locked away her innermost thoughts and feelings. No-one had ever been allowed into that fortress, but when she looked into his eyes she knew that he was already there.
“She was amazing, so wonderful, and it felt like a light went out of the world when she died. It broke my dad too. He's never been the same. He used to be happy and always had a joke and a smile but since she's gone...it's like he's gone too, like he's just a ghost, waiting for the moment when he's allowed to leave to join her.”
