Christmas for the Wolves & a Wolf for Valentine's Day (Grey Wolf Pack)

She was beautiful, beyond beautiful. He enjoyed just watching her sleep, holding her in his arms. More often than not, he awoke in the morning and watched her. A tiny part of him still couldn’t believe he had found her. After years of being alone, finding her had brought happiness and love back into his life. Things he never thought he would have again. His wolf practically worshipped her.
He told Kayleigh that he liked to watch her sleep, and she giggled; she said it was just because she wasn’t talking for once. She was vivacious and lively where he was laid-back and calm, most of the time anyway... They were perfect for each other.
He just hoped that what was about to happen didn’t change things between them.
Kayleigh blinked awake and beamed at him. “Mmmm, morning, cowboy.”
He kissed her nose. “Mornin’ darlin,’ sleep well?”
“Really well, I might actually start to like this camping thing.”
Don sucked in a breath and gave her a searching look.
She brought a hand up to his cheek. “What’s wrong?”
He hesitated. “I need to tell you something, and I don’t want you to panic.”
Dear lord, was he going to tell her they were staying for a week?
He rubbed a thumb over her lips. “Darlin,’ you’re pregnant.” His wolf howled. Their mate was carrying their young!
Kayleigh gasped. Worry and surprise competed as they coursed through her. “How do you know?”
“I can scent it; you already smell different.” He rubbed his chin over her shoulder; her fragrance was glorious.
She blinked a few times. “But, I’m on the pill!”
He chuckled. “Well, the pill ain’t a hundred percent, and last night was a full moon.” Wolves were friskier and more potent around a full moon.
She remained uncharacteristically quiet and chewed on her cheek.
“What do you think?” he asked uncertainly.
While his wolf was happy, Don still had his own doubts. For one thing, Don wasn’t sure about becoming a father at 40. For another, and he knew it was selfish, he would have liked a little extra time to spend alone with his mate. However, he had always wanted to have pups…
Then again, he also knew Kayleigh wasn’t sure she even wanted kids… Even though she would make a wonderful mother, he thought proudly. He’d seen her reading to kids at the library; she was funny and playful, and all the kids loved her. Not to mention how loving she was…
Kayleigh suddenly grinned at him. “I’m thrilled. Shocked, but thrilled.”
Don crushed her mouth to his as his feelings of joy swept through their bond. Kayleigh felt happy tears stream down her cheeks. Yes, she was absolutely terrified of becoming mother, but she could never be sad about it. She’d always been unsure about having kids before she met Don. But after they bonded, she knew it was inevitable they would have a child, and she wanted one with Don. She just hadn’t realized it would happen quite so soon. But she was happy and nervously excited about having a baby … or should that be pup. Hmmm, the baby could be witch or pup, only time would tell.
When he finally let her up for air, she held his face in her hands. “You realize the baby could be a witch, right? That doesn’t bother you, does it?”
He moved his face to kiss the palm of her hand. “As long as the babe’s as pretty as their mama, I don’t care either way.”
“Please, look at the two of us? Our baby’s going to be gorgeous; we’re doing the world a favor by reproducing.”
Don let out a hearty laugh as his wolf roared in ecstasy.
Kayleigh gasped again, and her eyes lit up. “This must be what my vision meant!”
Don frowned. “You had a vision about us havin’ a baby?”
Kayleigh was a little psychic, and sometimes had visions. She gave palm and tarot card readings. The visions were sometimes hard to decipher though.
“Not exactly, I had this vision about two little pups prancing around in the woods, and they came over to me, and I petted them. I didn’t really think anything of it; I’d just given readings to Terri and Liv, so I thought it was about their pups.” Terri and Liv were pack mates who were also pregnant. “Wait, you don’t think this means I’m having twins, do you?”
Don winced. Although it hadn’t occurred in his generation, twins did run in his family. “It’s too early to tell.”
She giggled nervously. “Yikes, now I am worried! Can you imagine two babies running around causing havoc?”
A dreamy expression overtook his face and his wolf almost sighed in delight, but they both stilled as their mate let out a small whimper.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, panic smothering his happy look.
Kayleigh but her lip and fluttered her eyelashes. “I just get the feeling that the baby doesn’t like camping very much, I think maybe we should go home…”
Don had to stifle his smile. “I agree darlin,’ let’s get you home.”
“Thank you, and I promise I will never complain about you going camping without me again. I don’t think it’s my kind of thing.”
“I don’t know; I bet I can find a way to make you enjoy it.”

Later that day
Kayleigh snuggled into the sleeping bag, clutching Don to her.
Don had set up the tent in their living room and pulled in an air mattress for them to lie on. It was surprisingly comfortable, and being in the tent was so intimate.
“Hey darlin,’ you want me to get anythin’ for you?” He ran a hand over her belly possessively.
“Mmmm, I wouldn’t say no to some hot chocolate.”
“Hot chocolate comin’ up.”
He gave her a quick kiss and disappeared out of the tent.
“And some cookies and some chips, and I wouldn’t say no to some of those chocolate covered marshmallows,” she called after him.
She heard him chuckle. “Comin’ up.”
She leaned back and stretched. She was considering what the baby might want for breakfast tomorrow. She got the feeling that the baby wanted Don to make French toast. Yep, this was definitely her kind of camping.
