“Come on we need to get going.” I walked in the direction of the town and she followed close behind, but I knew she was still tired. We hadn’t eaten anything since all this started. She was falling behind.

‘Come on Evelyn. Up you get.’ I said turning to face her. I held my arms out for her to come to me.

‘You’re not carrying me again.’ She said with embarrassment.

I didn’t give her a choice. She was easy to scoop up and I knew it would be long before we got to the town. She tried to hit me a couple of times, but I barely felt it. When I looked back, the wolves were scattered around us like some kind of army.

I could see the clearing up ahead and knew we were nearly out of the forest. “We’re here Evelyn we need to move quick.” I said putting her on her feet. I turned to the alpha, thanking him with a pet on the head. Then the wolves turned back into the forest.

We held hands as we exited the woods and walked towards the town. I asked the first person we met if there was anywhere we could get a car. He told us there was a garage down the road that always had some for sale. As we walked in the direction he pointed, we could see people were stopping to look at us then running away, but they weren’t looking at us. When we turned to looked behind we both froze. I had no idea we were still being followed by two of the wolves. I turned to Evelyn.

“Oh my god they are back. OK now I’m starting to get worried.”

“Yeah let’s just try and get out of here please.” She said as she started walking again.

“Fuck buying a car.” I said as I walked up to a man who was frantically trying to get in his Chevy, but I managed to stop him shutting the door.

“Give me your car now or my wolves will eat you.” The poor guy looked terrified as he got out.

“Thank you. I’m going to drive this car to the airport. You can collect it tomorrow, oh and don’t call the police. Those wolves are vicious.” I patted him on the back and got in the driver’s side. Evelyn followed and got in the passenger seat. As soon as she shut the door I burst out laughing.

  “What’s funny?” She asked me.

“I told him those wolves will eat him and look at them. They are laying down bloody sunbathing.” Obviously, she didn’t find it that funny. She sat back and closed her eyes.

I started the engine and headed in the direction of the airport. Luckily, I knew where I was. It only took an hour to get there. We dumped the car as promised and left the keys in the glove box. We went into the airport and up to the desk. A young blonde woman was sitting down looking at her screen.

  “Excuse me.” I said.

“Hang on please I’m busy.” What a rude bitch.

“Well stop being busy and serve me.”

I wasn’t in the mood for this. I could feel Evelyn clutching onto my arm. We were both on high alert. As the blonde looked up at me. She looked like she wanted to slap me, but when she looked me up and down she changed her mind.

“Oh, I’m so sorry sir yes, I can definitely serve you.” She said winking at me.

I think she was flirting with me, but I could be wrong. I was never any good at noticing stuff like that. I could feel Evelyn’s possessiveness as she clung tighter to me. She was jealous?

“Yeah I need your quickest flight to Michigan.”

“I’ll need your passports.” She replied sweetly.

I handed over the passports and she quickly grabbed hold of them while she rubbed her thumb over my hand. Evelyn was looking up at me now. I looked at her and kissed the top of her head. She seemed to calm down a bit until the blonde spoke again.

“Aww is this your little sister? She’s so cute.” She said. I could feel Evelyn getting angry now. There was no time for this.

“Can you just hurry up we’re in a rush.” The blonde wasn’t smiling anymore. She looked down at the screen and said there was a flight leaving in two hours. “Yeah that’s great first class please.”

She handed me our tickets and a piece of paper.

“Call me.” She said and winked again.

I didn’t mean to, but I snorted loudly. I handed her back her number. “Nah.”

She looked mortified, but it cheered Evelyn up so was worth it.

Once we were seated I noticed Evelyn had become very quiet. “You ok?”

She looked a little scared. “It seems that whenever I’m on a plane there’s always a thunderstorm.”

“There won’t be any storms this time I promise. We’re together, we’ll be fine.”

Honestly, I was starting to wonder if it was Evelyn causing the storms. The weather always seems to match her mood, and I thought if I could keep her calm and focused maybe well be ok.

“So, tell me about this cabin. It sounds very mysterious.” I was pulling her leg and she seemed to enjoy my teasing.

“It’s not mysterious, but it does feel like a completely different world. My mom told me that when I’m 18 she was going to take me back there for a very special surprise. I’m guessing our parents were finally going to bring us together. It’s funny actually. There was a boy there one time. I was only 4 I think. He was the same height as me.” She looked away suddenly, and now I was beginning to remember being there as well. Dad had brought me to a house. I hadn’t been there before.

“I think that was me.” I said.

“It was you. I remember now. I had sneaked into mom’s room and she was with a man, but they were arguing. I got scared and went back to bed and I think you were in the same room as me?” She looked confused, but it was all coming back to me now.

I remember dad telling me we had to leave our home quickly. We only took a few things with us. We drove for days and we ended up at this cabin. A woman came out and ran straight into his arms. They were crying then she turned to me and cuddled me tight. She felt warm and I felt safe with her. When she let go I could see dad hugging a little girl. She was so pretty. When dad let go she ran up to me and jump into my arms. We were only 4 but we knew each other. I knew she was my twin. When we went inside she brought me over to a flower.

“Look I made it grow.” She said to me.

“Can I try?” I asked her.

“Let’s do it together.” She said.

We held hands and watched the tiny flower grow, towering over us. We were amazed. We kept giggling. Then mom and dad came over and separated us. We weren’t allowed to hold hands anymore. They said it would be too risky. We didn’t understand, but all we wanted to do was be together. I could hear them talking whilst I was supposed to be asleep. I didn’t understand it, but I remember them clearly saying we couldn’t be together anymore. It was dangerous, and they had to wait for us to be in control. They were going to meet here on our 18th birthdays. That was the last time I had seen Evelyn. I even remember we slept in the same bed holding hands… but what were they bringing us back for? And how the hell did I forget all this?

“Aiden?” Evelyn shouted at me and punched me in the arm.

“Sorry it’s just I remember that… I don’t know how I even forgot all about it. You were there with me. They said they were going to bring us back when we were 18.” I sat back whilst trying to digest the memory of the 7-foot-tall orchid in the living room.

“Bring us back for what?” Evelyn asked me.

“I’m not sure. Do you remember a big flower?” I asked seriously but I didn’t get a serious response. She was laughing at me now. “Ok that’s enough. It wasn’t that funny.” I was getting irked and she was still laughing.

Just looking at her laughing was making me feel funny again. She was perfect in every way. It was hard to look at her and not be able to kiss her. She was going to notice soon how I really felt. I’d already messed up a few times and put her in a position she shouldn’t be in. She put her hand on my knee but the feelings it gave me were so confusing. I pushed her hand away.

“Don’t do that, it’s weird” I said abruptly. I could see she was upset by my outburst, but I needed that. I wanted her to hate me a little bit. At least the
n I wouldn’t be able to get to close and muck our relationship up.

I could see an air hostess looking at me, so I winked at her and she giggled. Wow she was easy. This wouldn’t take too long and then Evelyn wouldn’t want to be close to me anymore. I would just be her douche of a brother. I could see Evelyn watching me and her, but I pretended to not notice. The air hostess signalled to me to follow her behind the curtain, so I undid my seat belt and stood up.

“Where are you going?” Evelyn asked me a bit panicked, holding onto my hand.

“Don’t worry sis I’ll be back in a bit.” I said, but I was starting to regret this already.

Was this going too far? Evelyn tried to pull me back to my seat, but this was my opportunity. We needed some distance. Being alone together for so long was getting very hard, especially for me. When I got behind the curtain she was waiting for me. She tried to kiss me, but I pushed her away. I didn’t want her anywhere near me. I rubbed my hand over her mouth and her lipstick came off onto my thumb, then I wiped the lipstick across my mouth. She was staring at me opened mouthed.

“Thanks toots.” I winked at her then went back to my seat. Evelyn wasn’t even looking at me. Her eyes were closed so I figured she’d gone to sleep. Then the hostess walked past us looking slightly dishevelled with smeared lipstick on her face. Evelyn was now staring at her, then at me.

  “Have fun?” She asked.

“Yeah she was alright.” I said candidly. She was silent for the rest of the plane journey and I knew I’d fucked up. I just wanted to create a little distance. I knew I would regret it.

  Chapter 16

  Evelyn

I felt like an idiot. I don’t know why I though he was different. I’d never seen him interested in anyone, but should I even be bothered? I didn’t want to look at him right now. I don’t know what happened back there, but she looked a little shaken and I don’t believe for a second, he kissed her. I know he can’t stand it so what was he trying to pull? It still upset me though. He obviously did it on purpose and then it hit me. Maybe he knows… oh my god. Maybe he knows how I feel. He’s getting uncomfortable with how close I feel to him. He needed to push me away. Brothers and sisters are not this close normally. He probably thinks I’m a freak. Now I wanted to cry. I felt so ashamed of myself. Disgusted with how I’d been acting. I decided when everything calmed down I was going to leave him. I couldn’t live my life being attracted to my brother. It was sick and the only way to stop it would be as far away from him as possible. I knew now was not the time, but I wanted to hurt him like he hurt me. I was being petty and childish, but I couldn’t help myself.

“When this is all over were going our separate ways.” I said abruptly. He looked at me in shock.

“I’m sorry were doing what?” He replied looking straight into my eyes.

I shifted a little in my seat. “When this is finished, when we become safe again. I don’t want to be near you anymore.”

“I’m never leaving your side and you can’t get anyway from me. Remember I’m a little faster than you.” He said with a stern look on his face. Then he whispered in my ear. “I will always find you and I’ll never stop looking.” He leaned back now in his seat.

I didn’t know what to say really. I wasn’t expecting that. “I don’t want you.”

Now he was shifting in his seat. “That doesn’t stop me wanting you.” He looked uncomfortable as he said it. “In my life I mean.”

“Doesn’t it matter what I want?” I asked.

“You want what I want. We’re family. We have got to stick together. You’re just annoyed at me right now. You will change your mind.” He said. I didn’t have a reply, so I didn’t say anything else.

When the plane landed we made our way to the exit. Aiden got our backpack down from above us and made his way to the front of the plane. As I walked past the captain the hostess was there. She waited for Aiden to pass before pulling me to one side.

“I’m sorry miss are you with him?” She asked me.

  “I am.” I said.

She looked a little frightened. “I think there’s something wrong with him. I could see it in his eyes he’s dangerous.”

I looked at her confused. “He’s my brother.”

Her eyes widened as she looked behind me.

“Evelyn everything ok?” Aiden was asking me but looking at her. Then he took my hand and led me off the plane. Once we were inside he stopped and turned to me.

“What did she say to you?” He asked looking very serious. I felt a little intimidated, but I wasn’t going to lie.

“She told me there’s something wrong with you.” I said flatly.

He was laughing now. “Well she isn’t wrong there. Come on we need to go.”

He was walking a little fast now. I tried to keep up, but my legs were starting to ache. He turned, grabbed my hand and said quietly. “The agents are here, we need to hide.”

He pulled me towards a pillar and we stood behind it. We saw the agents walking past towards the direction of baggage claim. Luckily, we didn’t have anything to collect. They were 2 minutes too late.

Aiden pulled me towards the exit and outside. We jumped into a taxi.

“Could you take us to the closest car dealership.” He asked the driver.

He was still holding my hand, so I pulled mine away. I didn’t want him touching me. I turned in my seat and looked out the window. How did we even get here? I wished mom was with us. I needed one of her hugs to get through this. We pulled up to a used car lot. Aiden paid the cab and we got out. There was a lot of cars here, but Aiden seem to find one he wanted. As they went into the office to sort paperwork out, I walked around looking at all the cars. I didn’t realise I wasn’t alone.

  “Hey.”

I heard a man shout out to me. I turned around, but I couldn’t see him. I started heading for the office when he stepped out in front of me.

“Hey cutie where’d you come from?” He was leering at me. I knew I was in trouble. He was about 6ft2 and a very stocky build. He was covered in car oil, so he must work here.

“I’m going back to my brother. He’s in the office waiting for me.” I said shakily.

I was more than able to fight but it still terrified me. I tried to walk past him, but he stood in my way again.

“Move now or you’ll be sorry” I said trying to muster enough courage to be able to fight my way out.

The way he was looking at me told me everything I needed to know. I wasn’t the first and I wouldn’t be his last. I hadn’t noticed that when he stepped forward I was stepping back. I tried calling for Aiden, but I couldn’t see him. I screamed out his name, but we were too far away now.

“Sshhh. It’s okay honey pie your safe with me.” He said stepping forward and tried to put his hand on my face.

“Wow you have pretty eyes. Do they normally glow or is it because your scared?” He was taunting me now.

I stepped back. I knew what he wanted. He started moving quicker and I turned and ran. We were in a huge parking lot. There were cars where everywhere and I needed to hide, but that hope was taken away from me when I came face to face with three Rottweiler’s. That wasn’t what terrified me. They were all sitting on a mattress on the floor covered in stains, with a video camera pointed to it. Fear set in. I couldn’t breathe. I looked around and the whole place was fenced in. I’d run straight into a trap.

“You’re done honey there’s no way out now.” He said walking towards me.

I could hear the Rottweiler’s behind me starting to growl. I turned to look at them and they were standing snarling at me.

“It’s OK they won’t hurt you unless you make a noise, so you better keep quiet.” He started smiling now and rubbing himself.

“My brother will be looking for me.” I said hoping it might help. I couldn’t cope with any more of this.

“Oh no we saw you coming sweetie. My brother will keep your brother busy for a long time. Boys and their toys.” He said undoing his trou
sers and holding it out for me to see.

I recoiled at the sight of it.

“You don’t like this? I have some videos to get you in the mood if you want?” He asked licking his lips. I was terrified now. I couldn’t do this again. I’d rather take my chance with the Rottweiler’s, so I stepped back towards the dogs. “That’s it good girl go lay down and maybe I’ll let you go after.”

I stopped when I felt the mattress behind my foot and the snarling hot breath of the Rottweiler’s on my hand, but they hadn’t moved yet. They were still growling.

“You won’t touch me with that.” I shouted at him.

I was hoping Aiden would have noticed I was gone. He reached out his hands and grabbed my sweater and tore it off me. I screamed but no one was around to help me. I wasn’t going to let this happen. I could feel the light pulsing through my veins again. I felt myself getting stronger. I knew Aiden was coming. I could feel he was running, but I couldn’t wait for him.

“Get him.” I said as he pulled at my trousers.

The Rottweiler’s jumped past me puncing on him. They started to tear at his arms and legs. I listened to him screaming. It was like music to my ears. I wanted his face torn apart and they obeyed. I was so close to him now looking over him. His blood was everywhere, even on me, but I couldn’t look away. I could feel all the pain that had soaked into the soil here, and I was making him feel it. He managed to get one Rottweiler off his face, but it went straight for his dick ripping it to shreds. I never knew someone could squeal that loudly and I was loving every bit of it. They ripped off his fingers for all the girls he hurt. They ripped out his tongue for all the girls he forced himself on. I could feel Aiden there, staring at me, but all I could feel is pain. Then he came towards me and was standing in front of me. I was only looking at the scene behind him. He was shouting at me, but I couldn’t hear anything but screaming and I wasn’t leaving till I’d finished him off. I smiled as one of the Rottweiler’s ripped out his throat. He was dead now and I knew he’d never hurt an innocent soul again. The dogs returned to me covered in blood and sat in front of me looking up waiting for instructions. I knelt and patted them all. I felt faint and when I tried to stand I collapsed to the ground.
