Her Little Spanish Secret

“I love you, too, Miguel.” She lifted up on tiptoe to kiss him again, ignoring the waiters and waitresses clapping in the background. “And I want Tommy to have at least one brother and one sister.”
He laughed. “Anything you say,” he agreed huskily, before kissing her again.
As she clung to his shoulders, reveling in the kiss, she realized that with a little faith and love…dreams really could come true.
EPILOGUE
MIGUEL was pleased and humbled that Katerina had wanted to be married in Seville. He stood at the front of the church, amazed at how crowded it was. Apparently everyone in Seville wanted to be there to share in their wedding. Juliet was there too, standing as Katerina’s maid of honor. She was fully recovered now from her accident and was determined to finish her semester abroad. His brother Luis hadn’t touched a drop of alcohol since selling the farm, and he stood straight and tall next to Miguel as his best man.
There were many friends and family in the church, some even having come all the way from the U.S. to be there. And he couldn’t help smiling when he saw Pedro sitting near the front, wearing his Sunday best, craning his neck to get a glimpse of the bride.
When the music began, the first one to walk down the aisle was Tomas. Miguel grinned when his son walked slowly as if afraid he might drop the small satin pillow holding their wedding bands. When Tomas reached the front of the church, Luis stepped forward and took the rings. Miguel put a hand on his son’s shoulder, keeping him at his side.
“Hi, Daddy,” Tomas said in a loud whisper. “I didn’t drop them.”
“Good boy,” he whispered back.
Juliet was next, walking with only the slightest bit of a limp, hardly noticeable to anyone except him.
And then Katerina stepped forward, so beautiful his chest ached. The entire church went silent with awe, but when she caught his gaze and smiled, the love shining from her eyes made him catch his breath. He forced himself to stay right where he was when he wanted very badly to rush forward to greet her.
They had two priests, one who spoke English for Katerina, even though she was already broadening her knowledge of the Spanish language.
“Mama’s beautiful, isn’t she?” Tomas said again, in a loud whisper.
“Very beautiful,” Miguel agreed. “Be quiet now, Tomas, okay?”
“Okay,” he agreed, nodding vigorously. When Katerina reached his side, he took her hand in his and together they turned to face the two priests.
As anxious he was to have Katerina become his wife, he planned to enjoy every moment of this day, the first day of their new life, together.
