“You took your time, saying your goodbyes?” Vass stands as I enter the kitchen taking me by surprise.

“Why are you here?” I ask.

“My Grandmother passed earlier today,” he says and I lower onto the nearest stool.

“Oh, I’m so sorry Vass. Are you okay?” I ask.

“I came to give you this,” he says sliding a white envelope towards me with my name scrawled across the front.

“What’s this?” I ask picking it up.

“It was with her belongings. I got one too.”

“Do you want me to open it now in front of you?” I ask and he nods. I guess we are both wondering why his Grandmother has left me a letter.

I fold out a pretty piece of writing paper and glance over the hand written note. As the words penetrate my brain I gasp, slapping a hand over my mouth. “Well, what’s it say?” probes Vass.

I shake my head, tears filling my eyes, “I’m so sorry Vass, I didn’t ask her to do this. Please don’t hate me,” I say handing him the letter, “I’ll sign it straight over to you I promise.”

Vass smiles and takes the letter, placing it on the counter top. “I know what it says Alivia.” He rounds the table to me and takes my hands. “I don’t want you to sign it over to me. My Grandmother wanted you to have it, I want you to have it.”

“I’m moving back to Brighton, I’ve made plans to move in to an apartment,” I say, my brain racing at a hundred miles an hour.

“Stay,” he says, “Stay in London. Live in my Grandmothers mansion and raise our child there.”

“I can’t I have no idea how to look after a child, my parents are going to help me, I can’t do it alone,” I say, panic taking over.

“Liv, you are the owner of a million pound stately home. Move your parents in. They can live in the West wing and we’ll live in the East wing.”

“Wait, what are you talking about?” I ask confused.

“Forgive me Liv, I messed up and I regret it, all of it but I love you. I’ve tried to fight it and convince myself that my old life was all that I needed but then you stomped in to my life like a shy little virgin and you took my breath away,” he says, brushing a thumb over my wet cheek, “I know I hurt you and you deserve better, I’ll spend the rest of my life making that happen if you’ll give me one last chance.” I’ve dreamed that Vass would come to me and say these words, I never thought it would happen. I’m so speechless that instead of words I throw myself at him and press my mouth against his. “Is that a yes?” he says with a laugh.

“Yes,” I sniffle, “Yes. I love you too.”

  Vass

I place the iPad in front of me, moving my coffee to the side. I never read the gossip columns but today I’m happy and I want to see what the world is saying about me. I smile has the headline appears.

‘A Fairy Tale ending for Vassivia. Vass Fletcher finally married the love of his life, Alivia Caldwell, yesterday in a beautiful ceremony in their London mansion. The happy couple wanted to keep their wedding private, only inviting family members and close friends, however the couple posted a snapshot of their hands, their wedding bands firmly in place. The pair haven’t had a smooth relationship but its clear to see that their troubles seem to be firmly behind them. Caldwell was spotted out in London earlier this week sporting a very small bump and Fletcher later confirmed that the pair were expecting their first child. In a short statement released by the pairs press office, Fletcher said, “I am very happy and excited to announce that myself and Alivia are expecting our first child. We are very much in love and we are excited to see where our future will take us together as a three.” Here at The London Enquiry we would like to wish the couple all the best and a very heartfelt congratulations on their wedding day.

  THE END

I know I say this at the end of every book but I loved writing Vass and Alivia’s story, it kept me awake at night thinking about where I could take them, or rather, where they were going to take me. Their journey doesn’t feel finished and as I write this Vass is already pushing for a second book!
