Several months went by and I didn’t hear from her again, until one day out of the blue, I get another letter. This time there was a return address. I packed up my friend and handed the company to one of my associates and moved to where my first love lived. I worked my way into this neighborhood and acquired the social club and my dear friend acquired the café. Business was easy here and we made money quickly. The law was easily bought and I began to search for my first true love. I wrote her and told her that I would love to see her and my child, she wrote back and said never. For months we went on like that, then one night I was sitting in my booth when she came in; she was holding a small fragile child in her arms. She still looked as beautiful as the first time I laid eyes on her. She walked up and handed me two things, my child and divorce papers.
That night I held my first-born for the very first time and then just like that, when the night drew to an end and the papers where signed, she took our child and walked out the door, never looking back. I begged her to stay, but she refused. She said she wanted a better life for our child. That night my heart ached with pain…”
Anthony could feel his heart beating underneath his white robe.
“I got a letter from her telling me that our child was in big trouble and to make things worst, her brothers where kicking her out on to the street. She asked for my help. She said she’d do anything not to live on the street. I agreed to help and in return I wanted to spend the rest of my days getting to know my son… Anthony.”
Anthony began to cry uncontrollability. The words in the letter became one big blur. He wiped the tears form his eyes and continued with the letter.
“I loved your mom with all my heart. She was my life. When you walked through that door, I wanted to take you in my arms and tell you the true, but I couldn’t. I promised your mother I would never say a word of this while I was alive. You can’t imagine the pain I went through, when I raised my hand to you. Afterwards, I wanted to cut off my own arm. Anthony, my son, Now that you know, please don’t take it out on your mother. She only wanted the best for you. Remember, we will always be bound by blood…
THE END…
