Dark Divide (Shadow and Shine Book 2)

  The UN isn’t our only enemy. You’ve seen the videos. They’re not well-made productions or poor-taste hoaxes. They’re real. Our biggest enemy isn’t foreign, but rather the Shadows who reigned terror inside our borders. Salt Lake City was the first, but they were only the beginning. Ban’s bombs merely slowed them down, and decimated our population. As it stands, there are no survivors west of Denver. Even if there were, there is no electricity or communications recorded. The west is dark. The west is ruined. Ban believed the UN’s bombings were a reset button, as if the absence of radiation makes the damage less inhumane. Yet, we’re cut in half. A nation divided by outsiders. Ban did us no favors.

  This morning I claimed there were no more heroes. I blamed our pride for our downfall. I’ve made constantly outlandish statements with short-sighted rumors demanding your full attention. My career has been built on negativity and anti-patriotic complaining.

  I was wrong.

  I’m not a prophet nor am I an expert, but I know our future. The Shadows are coming. They are a dark force who will stop at nothing to consume this nation. They are not terrorists. They are nightmares. They bring a fog with them; dark clouds of dust which cause massive decomposition. If you see this fog, run. Head east. Head far away. Don’t stop until you’ve made it to DC.

  I regret saying there are no more heroes. I know you’re out there. Men like Conrad Greene, or even better, stronger, and more powerful. In our darkest days, the light will shine though. There is a Pulse out there, I hope you find yours.

  There are heroes and if you’re one, come find me.

  Be Radical.

  Be Heroic.
