“Veronica, I’m back here in the prep kitchen. Please, come back here at once,” Sylas spoke in a stern voice.
“What are you doing back here?” Veronica walked back confused by the food out all over the place.
“You wanted your palate tested, right? Well, I told you after dinner I would. So, it’s test time. Now turn around I have to blindfold you.” Sylas held out a clean cloth.
“This isn’t really what I had in mind, Sylas. A blindfold, really?” Sylas sensed confusion in her voice.
“Yes, a blindfold, your palate test is a bit different. Trust me, you’ll love it.” Sylas tied the fabric around her eyes.
“I also think we need to remove your shirt because I wouldn’t want to spill anything on it.” Sylas began unbuttoning her blouse.
“Alright, now I think I might like this test,” she smiled as the cool kitchen air hit her skin.
Sylas removed Veronica’s blouse, along with her bra exposing her breasts to his mouth. He gently kissed one nipple then moved over to the next one. Swirling his tongue around her nipples they became erect. Veronica moaned in pleasure as Sylas sucked. He could feel her excitement building, as her body tensed.
“Alright, test item number one.” Sylas dipped his finger into one of the containers on the counter. He put his finger to Veronica’s lips; she slowly opened her mouth. Veronica teasingly licked the food off his finger.
“Chocolate mousse, one of my favorites,” Veronica nibbled his finger gently.
“Very good, you passed test number one,” Sylas dipped another finger into the next container putting it up to her mouth again. She parted her lips taking the offering. She purposely sucked hard on his finger letting him know she wanted more.
“Oh, Crème Brule, another one of my favorites, I like this test a lot,” Veronica licked her lips in anticipation of the next item.
“Very good, you passed test number two.” Sylas popped the cork on the champagne.
“You need a drink to cleanse your palate,” Sylas poured the cold champagne onto her lips trying to get as much in her mouth as possible. Veronica opened her mouth more drinking what she could. Sylas stopped pouring long enough to lick the spilled champagne off her breasts. His tongue traveled from her breasts up to her collarbone. Then he gently kissed her neck.
Sylas kissed Veronica deeply, while removing her blindfold. He waited while her eyes adjusted to the light of the kitchen. He stood in awe of her beauty; her hair pulled back, the softness of her skin. It took everything in his body to resist the urges he felt. Sylas wanted to lift her onto the counter to continue what he had started. He just stood silent for a moment thinking of the right words to say.
“What is going on with you tonight, Sylas? Is something wrong, did I disappoint you? You have that look in your eye,” Veronica bit her lip nervously.
“Veronica Chatur, I love you with my whole being. You have made me the happiest man in the world. You came into my life at a time when I was at my lowest and at a time I was uncertain of what I wanted, of what I needed in my life.” Sylas’s eyes tear up. Expressing feelings like this didn’t come easy to him.
“I love you too, Sylas. What is this all about? Where are you going with this?” Veronica was tensing and Sylas sensed she was bracing for the worst.
“Veronica, I spoke with your father earlier tonight and we discussed us. I asked for his blessing,” Sylas pulled the dusty ring box out of his pocket, dropping to one knee. Before Veronica could utter a word, he continued. “Veronica, will you do me the honor of being my wife?” Sylas opened the box showing Veronica her mother’s ring.
“Where did you get that, Sylas, and do you know what that is? That’s my mother’s ring. My father gave it to her when he proposed to her,” Veronica started to sob, as tears rolled down her cheeks.
“He told me to give this you when he gave me his blessing. I love you so much, is that a yes, Veronica?” Sylas anxiously awaited her response.
“Yes, Sylas Hanson, I will marry you.” Veronica pulled Sylas up off his knee taking his face in her hands she kissed him deeply.
Sylas pulled back from the embrace, so he could slip the ring on her finger. It fit perfectly. They both just stood there staring at the beautiful diamond on Veronica’s finger. The look of pure bliss on her face made Sylas incredibly happy. Sylas leaned in to kiss Veronica like he had done a thousand times since they met. As they kissed, he dreamed of what the future held for them. Nothing is certain, but one thing held true, he never wanted this feeling to end.
