Joy, hope, and love welled inside her so she breathed it. Wondered how she’d ever functioned without it. Because in this moment, staring into the beautiful face of the man who owned her heart, soul, and spirit, she’d never been truly alive.
“Okay.”
A grin quirked a corner of his gorgeous mouth. “Okay.” Then, “Give me the words, duchess. I’ve discovered that with you I need to hear them.”
“I love you,” she whispered.
“You are worth the risk, Sloane.” He captured her mouth in a kiss as tender and delicate as this emotion between them. Brushing his thumb over lips, he murmured. “You always were.”
