Step Trouble

I must say, I clean up pretty nicely—I decided to go with the black skirt and a powder blue blouse to bring out my eyes.

I can’t believe it took me so long to get stuff like this in my wardrobe, but, of course, it makes sense, given my history.

I used to have pretty nice clothes once upon a time—my mom used to take me to places that required me to dress like an upwardly mobile lady in my tween and teen years, so there I was in some formal, puffy dress with my hair bone straight and brushed away from my face.

I guess she was letting her circle know about the daughter she had coming of age, and wealthy parents with eligible, age-appropriate sons—watch out!

I feel bad for my mom—she seemed to really want a girly girl, a daughter who cared about makeup and jewelry and designer shoes and royal families and shit.

I tried to be that girl for her sometimes, but it never quite worked out—although I did manage to behave myself when she brought me around her friends for their stiff gatherings.

Only once did I end up climbing some tree in my beautiful new froufrou dress.

Boys definitely liked me, but as my mother liked to point out, “Of course, they like you—they’ll take any girl who’ll give it up to them, but they won’t marry public property. Decide if you want to be a wife or a good time left far behind.”

Well, look at me! I’m nailing it, Mom.

Except, this time, I’m not exactly being left far behind—in fact, I’m heading headfirst into trouble once again.

“I’m here to see Danny Masters,” I tell the receptionist.

  “And your name is?”

  “Emma Winters.”

The brown-haired, glasses-wearing older woman checks her screen and then moves to her phone and dials.

She informs whoever’s on the other end that I’m here, and I guess they tell her to send me right up because she says “Yes, sir,” hangs up, then proceeds to direct me to Danny’s office.

I head for the elevator, my heartbeats suddenly quickening again.

My heart had pumped hard in anticipation and nervousness once I had awakened this morning, and throughout getting ready, but it had calmed down on my ride here as I found myself distracted by memories of spending time at my old childhood home.

And now nervousness is back with a vengeance—I feel like I could pass out from the sensations surging through me.

Is it mainly nervousness about a new job? Especially since I haven’t been on anyone else’s clock in years?

Or is it mainly the fact that I’ll be coming face to face with the man I fucked a few days ago? A man who still has no idea I’m about to darken his door?

“Come in,” a familiar tenor says, and I obey, mentally preparing myself to see my delicious one-night stand again.

Danny looks up, and my legs almost turn to jelly as my eyes meet his.

I was wrong in thinking daylight might dull his splendor—he’s even more gorgeous in the harsh light.

His familiar cat-like eyes widen and his body freezes as he takes me in, his mouth slightly open.

  He puts down his pen.

“What are you doing here?” he asks in a measured tone.

I wave. “I’m Emma,” I say in a sing-song voice. “Nice to put a face to a voice, isn’t it?”

He continues staring at me, his face still slackened in shock.

Obviously, my fake lightness isn’t working, so I drop it and take a steadying breath. “Look, your mom was at my dad’s this past weekend…”

  “Wait, why was that?”

“They’re getting married!” I say with another fake wide grin. “You mean you haven’t met my dad yet?”

“How would I? Wait, did you just say our parents are getting married?”

“Don’t tell me they didn’t invite you—your mom said you’d be there for sure.”

“Well, of course, but it’s not like I needed to go into detail about that stuff. She told me she met a nice guy one time, and then she told me she’s marrying that nice guy she mentioned, like, two months later, and I congratulated her. She’s over fifty—I didn’t even expect the two to make a big deal out of anything—just go to a Justice of the Peace or something if they felt so inclined. Figured I’d meet the dude at some point.”

He leans back in his chair, his eyes traveling my body.

“I definitely don’t remember her saying anything about him having a daughter—especially one around my age.”

“Well, if you’re anything like me, chances are you missed it during the conversation—too busy nodding and pretending to listen.”

He cracks a slight smile at that, and I start to get tingly between my legs.

Don’t you dare, I tell my pussy. This is not the time or the place. Or the dude—seeing as how he’ll be your stepbrother soon.

He stares at me again, this time, with that same look that got me all excited in the taxi—the one where it looks like he’s examining me, studying me, as if trying to peer past my surface.

“Look, this is obviously totally awkward, and you know what? I don’t even need the job anyway. I have some savings from my mom’s life insurance payout, and I get access to a trust fund soon…”

“Nonsense. I don’t need to work either, but I’m doing it. Besides, my mom would give me absolute hell if I didn’t follow up on her promise to you, so let’s at least give today a go. What do you say?”

“Sounds good to me. What’ll I be doing?”

“What’s your skill level? Did you bring a résumé?”

  “No…”

“How familiar are you with Microsoft Office programs? You at least have a bachelor’s, right?”

“No,” I respond, starting to feel dejected—mostly because it just hit me how little I have to offer anyone.

I look like a quitter on paper, and I didn’t even build up practical experience all this time.

  “How fast do you type?”

  “Aha! Sixty-five words per minute.”

“Great! We can work with that, but for now, you get to start at the bottom,” he finishes with a wicked smile—at least, it looked wicked to me, but it was probably just my dirty mind.

“We’ll have you help out with admin stuff and the filing room, but first, we’ll get you sorted out with Human Resources and set you up as an employee—that is, if you’re still interested in working here?”

“Oh, yeah,” I say, nodding my head enthusiastically.

I don’t know why, but my brain is suddenly tingling with interest—it’s not just being around Danny that’s keeping me here.

I’m curious about what I’ll end up doing, how fast I’ll learn how to do whatever tasks they give me.

Part of me wants to prove I can rise to whatever challenge I’m given, that I’ve actually got a lot to offer.

“So,” Danny says, tilting his head a bit, “‘Cara,’ huh?”

“Long story,” I say, holding up my hand and shaking my head.

It’s totally not—I can explain with one line.

“Maybe I’ll tell you someday,” I say with a cheery smile and a wink.

When I check the time, I’m shocked to see the day is almost done already.

I managed to keep my mind off of Danny and focus on the people I was meeting, memorizing new faces and names, the task at hand.

It was mostly clerical stuff today—filing, making copies, etc.—and I was promised something different tomorrow because I’ve definitely got that part down.

I think they’re getting me started on data entry tomorrow in addition to the rest, and teaching me the basics of whatever computer programs they use.

I find myself genuinely interested in the courses Danny mentioned his company offers. I feel pretty hungry to learn more all of a sudden—as if I’d been starving my brain all this time and it suddenly realized there’s this buffet table before it.

It was even exciting getting to know the eateries around the building when I went for my lunch break, and I mentally marked the various plac
es I plan to hit up for lunch during the week.

Now it’s after four-thirty, and I’m pretty sure I made a good impression on everyone.

I’ve got a couple of male admirers following me with their eyes due to my ‘new girl’ glow, and I noticed a few jealous female looks, but also some friendly smiles from other chicks—potential friends or Happy Hour companions at least.

I haven’t run into Danny at all today, so it looks like this whole thing could actually work.

I step out of the elevator, smiling, so distracted by my thoughts that I almost walk right into Danny’s hard body.

  Oops—spoke too soon, I guess.

“There you are,” he says. “How about you head up to my office once you’re done with that,” he says, indicating the file in my hand. “I’d like to hear about your first day.”

“Aye, aye, sir,” I say good-naturedly with a shitty salute.

He shakes his head and smiles warmly at me, disappearing from view once the elevator doors close behind him.

I continue my journey to the file room, trying hard not to think about the way he looks in his business attire, his broad shoulders under his dress shirt, the scent of his heady, masculine cologne in my nostrils.

I definitely have to ignore the dull throb in my pussy.

  Chapter 6

“Welcome back, Emma,” Danny says as I enter his office near five p.m.

He is standing, pouring himself a drink—a top-of-the-line whiskey by the looks of it, and boy do I want a glass.

Luckily, it looks like he has one ready for me.

  “Are you driving?” he asks.

  “No way,” I say.

  “Subway?”

  “You betcha.”

“Hmm, I’d like to offer you a drink, but I’m not sure sending you from here inebriated…”

“Oh my god, just stop being a damn tease and pour me a glass!”

He cracks up hard at that, and I’m struck by the way his face lights up as he lets himself laugh, momentarily forgetting the drink I sorely need.

“I was just teasing you, you know. And I’ll arrange for a car to take you home, don’t worry,” he says as he pours my glass.

“You don’t have to do that,” I say as I stride toward him.

“I want to,” he replies, handing the tumbler of liquid gold to me.

We clink our glasses together in silent toasts then take our first sips.

Actually, I knock back half of mine.

“Thanks, boss,” I say. “You’re the best.” I tip my glass toward him.

He smiles. “Have a seat,” he says, indicating the chair in front of his desk while he goes behind it and plops down into his large, leather chair.

I’m glad this four-legged piece of furniture is between us.

“So how was your first day? Are you enjoying it here?”

“Actually, I am! I couldn’t roll my eyes hard enough thinking about it before, but I look forward to this new experience almost as much as I do my usual ‘routine.’ This is definitely different, but not in a horrible way.”

He chuckles again. “Glad to hear it. And the salary is okay?”

I shrug. “It’s fine. Seems a bit much for what I’ve done so far, but once I get into the flow of all my duties, I imagine I’ll silently bitch about how much more I deserve.”

“Something tells me you’re not exactly the type who holds back; if you think you deserve a raise, you’ll probably ask for it.”

I shrug again. “Probably,” I say with a slight grin.

“As for other matters,” he says as his face sobers up, “Do we need to talk about the other night?”

I shake my head vigorously. “No, sir. What happened, happened, and I enjoyed every bit of it. Zero regrets. But it was meant to be a one-time thing, and I’m totally cool with that. Especially considering… well, you know.”

He nods slightly then gets up and goes the large window looking out at the city.

He’s holding his hands behind his back as he stares out, perhaps watching the way the city looks as the rays of impending sunset washes over it.

He takes a deep, audible breath, the nature of it making me tingle for some reason.

I guess it doesn’t take much from this man to make me tingle.

But the sound was like a sigh of satisfaction, the sound of relaxed pleasure.

“I hate when someone tells me I can’t have something,” he says, still staring out. “Don’t you?”

“I am very much like that, yes.”

He turns to me, the look in his eyes familiar yet again but in a different way—the way he looked once we were in my apartment and I knew I was no longer in control.

  Shit…

“Cara, are you wet right now?”

I should definitely lie, knowing exactly where this is going.

‘Emma’ says to tell him no and zip out of there, but ‘Cara’ quietly says, “Yes.”

“Hm. You took a moment to answer. Perhaps I should check?”

Emma tells me to remind him of the plan to pretend nothing happened and certainly never go there again, but Cara says, “Perhaps you should.” Traitorous slut.

Danny stalks toward me then picks me up as if I’m a lamp and sits me on his desk.

He pushes my skirt up a bit, spreads my legs, then stands between them. Then he slides one of his hands up my inner thigh, every so slowly while staring at me intently.

I tremble at his touch, electric tingles zapping through my body and jolting my pussy fully awake.

If I wasn’t wet before (which I totally was), I am definitely soaked now.

“My, my, my—I can smell your arousal, Cara, you bad, bad girl.”

  “We shouldn’t do this.”

  Shut up, Emma!

“Do what?” he says, his fingertips lightly teasing my sensitive feminine folds over my panties.

  My brain almost shorts.

I can’t answer him—I’m a prisoner of his torturous tease, and I certainly don’t want him to stop.

“I can’t hear you,” he says as he slips a finger beneath my flimsy underwear, the raw touch of his flesh on mine making me lean my head back as I savor the sensation.

My pussy throbs with growing need.

I swallow, preparing myself to speak, although I have no idea what to say.

I suspect ‘Emma’ has left the building.

“Oh!” I gasp as he slips a finger inside me.

I start breathing harder as he pushes his finger deeper into me, wiggling it a bit, then pulls it out part of the way.

When he pushes his finger back in, he starts moving it like a dick, sliding it in and out and in and out my drenched entrance, teasing my inner flesh while helpless whimpers escape me.

“Perhaps you’re right,” he says as he pulls his finger out of me.

My pussy protests hard—so hard, it makes my mouth say, “Just one more for the road?” as I look at him with begging eyes.

“How could I possibly resist eyes like that?” he says as he unbuckles his belt, then zips down his slacks and lets his raging cock out, his slacks pooling around his feet. He points the lengthy, stiff organ between my legs.

I hike my skirt up to my waist while he pulls my panties down, and once I kick the flimsy fabric off, his cock finds my dripping slit.

“Are you sure about this?” he says in a gruff, lust-filled deep voice.

“Fuck me, Danny,” I say, and the words are barely out of my mouth before his thick cock penetrates my greedy snatch.

He pushes all the way inside me with one hard thrust, and I wrap my legs around him as he starts pumping into me, his dick working my inner flesh masterfully.

I hold onto his muscular arms and happily accept the pleasure of being filled, desired, pounded by a specimen like him—all virility and heady masculinity.

“I wish I could see your breasts,” he says, so I work my blouse off and pull them free of my bra.

“Jesus Christ, Emma, you’re amazing. You’re so beauti
ful, and you feel so good...”

His thrusts get faster and harder as he plows my slick pussy, drilling me with everything he’s got.

Then he suddenly pauses to fondle my breasts, and it makes me even hornier as I wait for him to start riding me again.

He bends to lick each breast, sending sharp tingles through me as his tongue slides over my taut nipples, his rigid cock still plugged into me.

Then he starts plowing me again, grinding into my cunt hard and deep while the sounds of our fucking fill the room.

“Oh, fuck, Danny—hitting my clit like that, I’m gonna...”

A wail of orgasm escapes me, and my legs tighten around him while my pussy clamps down on his dick.

My body begins to pulsate in the aftermath of my climax while he pumps and pumps and pumps, riding me through my blinding climax. Then he suddenly stills, letting out a masculine grunt of satisfaction.

“Emma,” he whispers, his cock throbbing inside me.

“Don’t worry, I’m on the pill,” I say quickly.

“That’s not what I was going to say. I was gonna say that I know this is the last time, but I sure wish I had a chance to eat you; I want to taste your pussy so badly, Emma.”

My pussy throbs with interest, even though I’m still recovering from my orgasm.

I can’t answer him—I don’t know if Emma or Cara is going to come out, so it’s best not to say anything.

I’m slowly coming back to my senses, and I know this is it for real—we can never do this again.

Our parents found love with each other, and that’s that—there are plenty of fish in the sea.

Once Danny pulls out of me, I quickly get myself back together, yanking my skirt down and gathering up my panties.

By the time I look up again, I see that Danny has pulled himself together as well, and he has taken out his phone.

“A car will be waiting for you, as promised,” he says as he dials, then begins to talk to whoever picked up.

I turn to go, really wishing I could ignore the overwhelming sadness coming over me.
