"They wouldn't dare attack us, sir," Homeland says.
"Why? We can barely fight a two-front war, but a three-front war? I would attack America if I were them. We all tried to do it to the Russian Bloc."
"Back-up contingency, sir? Reinstatement of the draft?" one senior advisor asks.
"Don't be absurd."
"No, Mr. President."
"What kind of military do you think we'd have infested with sex-fiends, drug-fiends, VR-fiends. We already have a forced attrition rate on nearly twenty-five percent now. The Caliphate and the CHINs armies are free of all of that. No, the back-up contingency plan it is."
"Sir, is this all connected with that terrorist call you received?" Homeland asks.
"Why do you ask that?"
"We did indirectly align with them against the Internationalists, along with the Muslims and CHINs. They were so successful that even we don't know how they did it. These Jew-Christians have global capabilities and there's no point pretending they're Luddites living out in the middle of desert wastelands."
He looks at her coldly. "I have never thought that. To create the American empire I wanted, to assemble the power I needed, it always meant destroying them. I knew that forty years ago. I also knew that—to use a late friend's words—would cause them to evolve. And they have. I accept the fact that I've created my own archenemies that possibly we'll never be able to fully destroy now, but they don't live here anymore. I am the President of the United States and they aren't. We control the nation—now and forever. Religion in America is a distant memory to the people, so I'm content with all my decisions and actions. "
"How do you want to proceed now, sir?" the Homeland Director asks.
"I want the Sphere Program accelerated. We'll go it alone."
"Then other superpowers will do the same, sir," the other advisor adds. "From outside the program they'll view it as 'weaponizing' cities, not 'futurizing' them. Exactly what we wanted to prevent."
The president pays no attention to him. "I wonder. Who is running the bigger conspiracy? There are so many."
"Sir, you don't think the terrorist was being truthful?" Homeland asks. "That they can read our minds?"
"My mind," the president corrects. "It doesn't matter. I've already handled it."
"What is the back-up contingency plan then, sir?" an advisor asks. "I'm not familiar with it."
"If our North American buffer zone that we've been working on for decades is gone, then we need to immediately begin building a new army, separate from our robotics and biologics war divisions. War-robots and man-made life forms fill two of our three battlefield needs; we require a human army too. And since we don't have enough humans, we'll grow them—a clone army. Five million, ten million, fifty million. However many subjects we need to match the Caliphate, and especially the CHINs—whatever it takes."
"But wasn't your late national campaign manager, Lucifer Mestopheles, going to be the template? We purged all his DNA from the stocks. But yes, with an executive order we can access the Registry, access to all the genetic material in the nation. Who would the replacement material come from, sir?" Homeland asks.
President T. Wilson sits back in his chair. "Me."

Transmission Intercept #114790 (World War III)
[Date tag: 13 September 2125] Rube, please respond. I'll keep resending. Pro-Caliphate Muslims have seized the Canadian government, no doubt triggered by the Caliphate attack on New York City. Canada has erupted in civil war. The Quebecois are fighting Muslim forces in the East, and all sects of the Star Trek have joined with Jedis to fight the Muslims in the West. Not a single Canadian soldier has yet responded to Caliphate invasion forces. Sources say the Canadian military has instead taken up fortified positions on the border to protect America. Sources also say that the Canadian president and his entire Cabinet have already fled the country. {Unintelligible expletives; not English} It burst on the Net—Russian Bloc forces have invaded! That means they're either completely ignoring their Witch Wars or have already dealt with it. Canada can't stop the Russian Bloc military, so this isn't to invade Canada, but America! Rube, I have to go now; it's total chaos in-country. I hear gunfire and mortar explosions, and I see fire, smoke, and looting everywhere around me. Rube, get as far away from America as possible. This is it. This must be World War III. See you at checkpoint Charlie. Live long and prosper.
Department of Homeland Defense and Intelligence Agency Security Dispatch / 13 September 2125
Sender is identified as Lorian Denak, a journalist of Vulcan, Alberta, Canada. Recipient (called "Rube") has been identified as anti-American journalist and activist named Sprocket. Canada has fallen and the entire Canadian government has fled the country for America. Confirmed: Russian Bloc military invaded Canada at 00:10 hours. Threat Matrix projects that Muslim forces now in control of Canada will fall to the Russians within the hour. Russian Bloc invasion of America via the northwestern states is imminent. No additional military forces will be redeployed to the northern border. All American military forces are committed to the battlefront against the Caliphate's Northeastern Atlantic invasion (designated: War of the Three Towers or "Wolf 359"). Threat Matrix predicts that PERFECT STORM Scenario is a ninety-percent probability, with projected attacks from CHIN forces via the Pacific and Brazilian forces from the southern border. If projections become reality, POTUS will formally declare the commencement of World War III.
