I want to learn how you’re doing this, Donovan thought to her.

I’ll teach you. What are you going to teach me? She giggled in his mind.

He growled in a very sexy way, as he gazed down at her. Oh, Sha, all the things I’ll teach you!

Soon the food arrived at the table, and Noble was relieved to sit down with food in front of her. She didn’t realize how hungry she was.

She looked up at the waiter who had brought the covered dish. “Jerry, it’s great to see you. How have you been?”

“Great. I’m in counseling and a support group over at St. Pat’s. When bad things were happening, and the restaurant closed, Gustave realized I was alone. He took me with his family out of town. I have friends, a great boss, and a great job. Thank you, Princess.”

Noble stood up and hugged him.

“You should see what the prince ordered for you.” He lifted the lid off the most wonderful Vampire Special she’d ever seen, packed with mozzarella, mushrooms, hamburger, parmesan, and broccoli.”

“Do you like it?” Donovan whispered in her ear.

  “I love it.”

“Thank you,” she said to Jerry.

Then turning back to Donovan, she mindtalked, I love it. I really do, but you can’t eat, so I’ll just have blood and Shuma Moot. I’ll be fine.

I won’t hear of it. You’re eating for two now, and Mina tells me that Bébé needs human food. It would please me so much to see you eat it.

So she did, and Donovan watched. He drank blood champagne and blood straight up.

They feasted and danced all night, and in the early muted hours before sunrise, the guests began leaving.

The Vander Meer clan met with King Vladimir by the door, as he and his entourage readied to depart.

He kissed Noble’s hand and shook hands with Donovan. Then from his vest pocket he took out a folded square of paper and handed it to Max.

“In honor of Princess Noble and Prince Donovan’s Wedding, I wish to make a donation to the rebuilding of the Arnhem Society’s residence.”

Noble leaned over to see the check for ten million dollars. “Your Majesty, that’s very generous.”

“I hope it will help you rebuild soon.”

Max smiled and shook his hand. “The rebuilding begins tomorrow after the last of the debris is cleared. My plan is to be up and running again before Christmas.”

Noble kissed King Vladimir’s cheek. “Thank you, my kind hearted friend.”

Smiling, the King of New Jersey said, “I am honored to have such a friend as you.” Turning to Donovan, he continued, “You have a treasure here, Prince Donovan.”

“Thank you. Believe me, I know that.”

Vladimir laughed. “Come, my boys, we are off.” The King waved and left to enter his limo with his entourage following. The big black limo drove away.

  Chapter 22

“Well, it’s time to walk you two home.” Max opened the door into the predawn air. He led the way with Evelyn on his arm. Hand-in-hand Donovan and Noble followed. Laura and David trailed them. They went past two houses and at the third, they stopped. The light over the front door was on. He knocked only once, when the door opened wide to admit them.

Max and Evelyn stepped aside. Donovan lifted Noble into his arms and carried her over the threshold. Their family followed applauding.

Noble looked over at Donovan being hugged by his daughters.

“See you soon, Papa,” said Evelyn. Laura nodded.

David hugged Noble and kissed her on the cheek. “Good morning, Bless.”

Max hugged her last. Again it dawned on Noble that life was about to be very different. Her bond was with Donovan now, her husband, her lifemate. Max had been her champion, her hero, her teacher, her father. She trembled a bit, feeling as if she had just walked of a cliff and forgot how to fly. It left a metallic taste in her mouth.

Max whispered in her ear, “Love saves us, Bless.” Then he kissed her on the head and turned to the others. “We should leave these two alone now.” He shook hands with Donovan before leading the rest out the door.

Hatcher reached over and locked the door behind them.

“Hi. Hatcher and I are your royal guards,” Cassandra said. “Would you like a tour of the house?”

Noble shook her head and leaned into Donovan’s chest. “No, I think if you would show us the master bedroom, we will retire for the day.”

“Sure, this way.” She led them through a grand room to the stairs.

Noble’s feet felt like lead, she could barely lift them. Donovan lifted her back into his arms and carried her up the stairs.

  “I can walk.”

  “You’re too tired, Sha.”

  “Vampires don’t get tired.”

  “Pregnant vampires do.”

Cassandra continued to smile and lead the way. “A small fridge was put in the master bedroom. It’s stocked with blood and Shuma Moot.”

“That’s good. Thank you,” Donovan said.

“King Max had it installed with the bedroom set.”

“I will have to thank him.”

Cassandra opened the door for Donovan. “Good night, Your Majesties.”

The door closed. In his mind, he locked it and heard the click.

Donovan loved holding her and reluctantly set her gently on the bed. Noble wrapped her arms around him, as he leaned over to kiss his bride. For a long time, they were glued together, kissing, laughing, tickling, and teasing.

Donovan, she spoke to his mind, I need to get out of this dress. Please, help.

He helped her up and looked at the double row of small buttons that went down her back. “What crazy person made this?”

  “Please, don’t rip my dress.”

“Hmm. Let me think about this. Okay, Sha, just be still. This is going to take time. There’s a thousand buttons back here.”

She laughed at his exaggeration. A few minutes later, the gown floated over a chair.

She climbed under the covers. With a teasing smile, she took off her bra and tossed it. Then her panties.

“I’ll be right back. Don’t move.” He rushed into the bathroom. He would only need a few minutes.

When he came back, Noble was asleep. Donovan smiled and moved an ebony curl off of her face.

  “Noble,” he whispered.

In her sleep she rolled over into him, eyes still closed, and said, “Merci.”

“You’re welcome.” He cradled her in his arms, kissed her lips, and drifted off.

Noble’s eyes went wide. She reached over for where Donovan should have been. Then she heard the shower running. In her mind, she heard, Noble, please, join me.

Getting up, she walked into the bathroom. Donovan opened the shower door and offered his hand. Noble stepped in facing him. Wonderful warm water poured over her in comforting streams. He pulled her into his embrace and with one hand put shampoo in her hair. It was more like a head massage, so soothing that she almost forgot what she knew had to be said.

  “Donovan, please, forgive me.”

  “Why, Sha?”

“I fell asleep on our wedding night . . . um, I mean morning.”

He grinned. His fangs were showing. “I wore you out before the wedding with our lovemaking. It’s entirely my fault.”

She shook her head and smiled. He brought her face to his and kissed her, a long breathless kiss. His hands traveled, and she chuckled to herself. Noble melted into his caressing of her shoulders, her breasts, her hips. His engorged shaft rubbed against her.

“I want you, Noble.” His voice was husky with desire.

Throwing back her head to let the water wash out of her hair, she grinded against him. Her eyes closed, and he lifted her in his arms. Noble grin
ned. Her fangs were out, and she couldn’t help it. She wrapped her legs around his waist and heard him whispering her name.

“I want you, too, Donovan,” she gasped.

He thrust into her, and she panted with his every movement. Again he had managed to have her pinned where she couldn’t move. When he was completely inside, she relaxed against him.

Donovan chuckled in that deep baritone of his. “Noble, this is just the beginning. Shouldn’t you be more excited?”

“Sha,” she imitated him. “I’m very excited. I’m just really happy. You can stay just as you are for a couple of hours and I’d be ecstatic. I love being on the point of excitement.”

“I can make it more exciting for you.” Sigh. “Not now Max!”

  “What?”

  “Your father is downstairs.”

  “Is it urgent?”

“He says no. I told him that we will be over to see him in a bit. He’s left.”

Noble laughed into his shoulder, her fangs just grazing his skin. “So where were we?”

Donovan grinned and closed his eyes. Suddenly they were on the bed with him looming over her.

“Whoa. How did you do that?”

He kissed her lips. “I teleported.”

“I know that. How did you do it?”

He nibbled her neck. “You had a bad dream, Sha. You were dreaming of Laura and me being trapped in the closing wall. I saw it in your mind. I saw how you teleported us to you.” Donovan nibbled your ear.

  She laughed. “Do it again.”

  He nibbled her ear.

“Not that. Teleport us into the shower again.”

  “What?”

“Please.” She kissed him as hard as she could short of biting him.

In the blink of an eye, they were in the shower, her with her legs around him and kissing. Noble took a breath. “Whoa. For some vampires, it takes a lot of effort to teleport. Are you tired?”

“No. Want to see how not tired I am?”

In the next second, they were on the bed again and he was on top. He kissed her deep, his tongue coaxing her lips to part. Though thoroughly amazed that he had taught himself to teleport that well, his kiss sizzled through her body befuddling her brain.

“Do I seem tired to you, Sha?”

“Huh?” She went right back to kissing him but then he moved, kissing her jaw then her neck.

Noble moaned and writhed. She wanted his mouth, but he was already determined on his course. Kissing and nibbling her neck, his fangs rasped over her skin. A shiver started in her that wouldn’t stop, when he moved to her breasts, teasing her with his tongue before sucking a nipple into this mouth. With his every suck and tiny bite, fire raced to her core. Helplessness engulfed her in his fierce passion. Kneading her breasts. Lathing her nipples with his tongue. Suckling at her breast. He reached beneath with soft caresses.

Too soon his mouth was gone again, his teasing nips and scorching kisses fluttered down her stomach. He would practice with his fangs, not actually biting her but coming close.

  “Donovan,” she gasped.

“Oui, ma chérie?” (Yes, my love?)

  “What are you doing?”

He grinned and that mischievous smile disappeared between her legs. His tongue invaded pushing into her hot, wet core. Donovan licked and sucked and drove deep, further. Noble bucked and writhed, gasping helplessly.

  “Donovan,” she panted.

A fang grazed her sensitive inner folds. She almost leapt off the bed.

  “Donovan,” she screamed.

His low baritone chuckle disarmed her, leaving her breathing ragged and her vision blurred.

  “Please.”

His head popped up with his wicked grin stretched across his face. “You are delicious, Sha.”

She fisted her fingers in his thick dark hair and pulled him up.

  She panted. “I need . . .”

“What do you need, Sha? I will be happy to give it to you.” He kissed her jawline and worked his way to her lips, kissing them over and over until they were swollen with his possession. “What do you need, my Noble?”

  “You.”

He lifted her up and started kissing down her body again.

“No.” She pulled on his hair. “I want that big cock of yours inside me.”

The raw sex of her words slammed through him with red-hot need.

Instantly his lips were on hers, kissing, nibbling, panting, and breathing her in. His cock rubbed the entrance of her heat, anxious and needing, like a stallion eager for the race. His constant rubbing made her edgy, her nails dug into the sheets.

She pushed hard against him, and Donovan obliged, sliding into her slick hot sheath.

He worshipped her with his hands, with urgent pounding into her hot velvet folds, so soft, so wet, so wanting him. Noble needed him, and he was determined to fulfill her every desire.

Her movement was all blur. Being on top now, she rode him hard, squeezing him until he groaned and thrashed beneath her. With ecstasy on his face, he panted reaching for her breasts and with victory in hand rubbed his thumbs over her nipples.

He opened his eyes and narrowed them at her, sitting proudly on him. His smile widened. Noble tried to read his thoughts but found a wall. He laughed because he knew just what she had done. A second later, he was on top. “You wild cat, Sha. Oh!” He groaned as she squeezed him hard. “I love you.”

He drove into her, and she pushed up onto him. That moment exploded into a rush of fire through their veins. Everything Noble thought and felt was shared with him. Every thought and feeling Donovan had swept into her.

Entwined they lay together contented, caressing each other, smiling through all the blissful aftershocks of their love. Wave after wave of release and sheer joy washed over them.

“You are mine.” He couldn’t stop grinning, their bodies still one.

Noble played with a dark wave of hair behind his ear. “When are you going to let me be on top?”

“You were on top for a bit.”

She nibbled his bottom lip, teasing her fangs against his mouth. “For a few minutes maybe.”

“I will try to give you more time. Sha, I just like being in charge.”

“Yes, I’ve noticed that.” She laughed at him, then reached under the covers. Playfully she fondled his balls.

“Noble, you want to make love again? Already?”

“Maybe. I want to play a game.”

“What kind of game? Is sex involved?”

“Maybe. You will have to earn a little lovemaking.” She leapt out of his arms, out of bed, and put on her midnight blue silk robe.

“Wait a minute? Earn? Sha, I’m your husband.”

  “Come play the game.”

  Chapter 23

Noble ran as if the devil was on her heels, laughing all the way, passing door after door. My, this house is huge. So many rooms. Finally she opened a door and rushed inside, careful to close the door without a sound.

She could hear Donovan’s big feet pounding on the floor. She’d had a head start, so it was possible he hadn’t seen which door she went in. Sitting on the floor hugging her knees, Noble looked around in the dim room. One of the windows didn’t have its shades drawn and moonbeams spilled into part of the room with a milky light. Noble moved further into the shadows.

The door opened. Donovan peered in. The door partly closed. He came in with a rush of air. She tried to move but wasn’t fast enough. He pinned her to the floor.

“This wasn’t much of a game. I won.”

“No, this is the beginning of the game.”

  “Beginning?”

“Yes, I want you to pick me up in your arms and teleport us back to our bedroom. If you can do that ten
times, we’ll make love on the floor on the bear skin rug in front of our bedroom fireplace, and you can be in charge and do anything.”

  “Anything?”

  “Anything, except inflicting pain.”

“I would never knowingly cause you pain, Sha. That still leaves a lot of other things.”

Noble could see the wicked ideas floating around in his brain. “Before you can do any of that. You have to teleport us back ten times.”

He stood up and pulled her up off the floor. “Let’s get to it then. I’m hungry for you.” Donovan lifted her up into his arms and kissed her.

When she opened her eyes, they were in their bedroom. She hadn’t heard any noise, no wind or whooshing sound. He gazed down at her and kissed her. “Why don’t we just declare me the winner now and get to the prize.”

She leapt out of his arms and ran down the hall again, faster than she’d ever run. Turning a corner at the end of the hall, she chose the door on the right. Another empty room yawned out before her eyes. Noble leapt up and floated against the ceiling.

Seconds later, the door opened beneath her.

  Hatcher walked in.

Noble floated down to the floor. “Hatcher, what are you doing here?”

Next thing she knew she was pinned to the floor with Donovan on top of her, smirking.

Noble frowned. “That’s cheating. Hatcher, go back to the first floor, please. The Prince is not allowed to enlist your help in the game. Understood?”

“Yes, my Princess.” Hatcher bowed and fled.

“I won.” Donovan smirked down at her. “Now let’s go back, so I get my prize.”

He teleported them back in the bedroom on the bearskin rug this time.

“No. You have not teleported ten times yet.” She was breathless. His imposing position over her was enough to make her almost forget the game. Almost. There was so much to admire about Donovan. He had teleported this last time without so much as a blink. He did it effortlessly, showing no pause or hint of concentration. Giving no indication he was about to teleport—a distinct advantage in front of an enemy.
