Death on Mt Pleasant

He senses I have spotted him and he disappears behind the tree. I don’t want to pull my weapon, have someone yell gun and start a stampede, so I take off at a brisk walk in his direction. Just past the last vendor, I break into a slow jog and I see him running toward the vineyard area and the parking lot. Just as I am about to start running after him, I notice a black streak come at me from my right side. I am completely surprised by the invasion, catch my foot on a root in the path. I stumble and fall head over heels on the ground. As I quickly rebound and get up on my hands and knees, I see the villain who attacked me. It is Starr, the vineyard dog, who must have thought I wanted to play with her. She is staring at me with both front legs on the ground, her rear end up in the air and tail wagging. I can tell by the look on her face she is thinking, well, are you chasing me, or am I chasing you?
DISCLOSURE
I tried to keep the descriptions of Mt. Pleasant as close to factual as possible. However, there is no secluded path leading to a forked tree and a cave. I made that up. My wife Beverly and I actually made a trip up the mountain to take pictures. We had not been up there in over twenty-five years. It is still a beautiful, awesome place.
