Yolanda nodded, placing her hand over one of his. “I couldn’t have done it without you.”
“I doubt that. You were the one who thought about the whole plan and gathered all the information you needed.”
“But you were the one who gave me the strength to do all of it,” she told him, squeezing his hand. “You were the one who made me realize what I should have known all along – that I should never have just taken all that bullshit he was dishing out.”
“I’m sure you would have realized it sooner or later.” He stroked her cheek. “At any rate, I’m glad that you’re happy now.”
Yolanda nodded.
“Are you sure you want to quit being a talk show host, though?” he asked. “You made that big decision pretty suddenly, you know.”
“I just listened to the voice inside my heart like you told me to,” she said. “Being a talk show host is fun and all, but I think I’d really rather be a reporter.”
“Well, you’re a great reporter.”
Yolanda smiled. “Now we’re both doing what we love.”
Shane, too, smiled. Then, he leaned forward to claim her lips in a kiss, one that started out gently but quickly escalated into one filled with so much passion that when it was over, Yolanda felt feverish and dizzy, but at the same time, truly filled with joy.

“I’ll just take a quick shower,” he whispered in my ear as he ran his fingers through my hair. “Then I’ll meet you in the bedroom.”
He gave me a quick kiss on the cheek and then left.
Still out of breath, I just stood there, my knees slightly shaking and my wineglass in hand. Then, as I got a grip of the situation, I finished my wine and went to the bedroom to wait for him. I sat on the edge of the bed, admiring how exquisitely soft it felt beneath me, and took off my sandals. I was about to take off the rest of my clothes, too, knowing fully well what Blake intended as soon as he got out of the shower, when suddenly, I caught sight of his laptop on the table across the bed.
Unable to resist, I approached it and as soon as I realized it was on and not password-protected, I felt my heart skip a beat, my adrenaline surging. Here was my perfect opportunity to get the information I wanted.
After checking to make sure Blake was still in the shower, I quickly took off my USB pendant and plugged it into the laptop, then searched through his files. After a few seconds, I came across a folder named ‘Corp. Files’ and I quickly copied it over, my glance darting back and forth from the painfully slow-moving progress meter on the screen to the small corridor that led to the bathroom. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the copying finished and I ejected my flash drive, wearing it back on my necklace.
Then, I closed all the windows and sat on the edge of the bed. As soon as I did, I heard the bathroom door open and saw Blake coming to the bedroom, a towel wrapped around his waist.
Since the screen of his laptop was still on—shit—I decided to distract him, going to him and wrapping my arms around his neck as soon as he came into the room.
“That took a while,” I told him, looking into his eyes.
“I’m sorry to have kept you waiting,” he said, kissing me.
As he did, I glanced at the laptop and heaved a sigh of relief when I saw the screen finally turn off.
“You’re still dressed,” he said as he broke the kiss, staring at me curiously.
I pulled him towards the bed so that we were both standing beside it. “Well, I thought you would want to do the honors instead. After all, the most fun part in getting a present is opening it.”
He grinned. “You are truly unlike any woman I’ve ever met.”
I grinned back at him. “You don’t know the half of it.”
