“John?” she managed. He produced a small, velvet box from his coat pocket and cracked it open. Her jaw dropped as she beheld the white-gold ring. A halo of smaller diamonds encircled the round brilliant, and the diamond-adorned band bordered the halo, giving the appearance of a double halo intersected on each side of the setting.
“Will you marry me?” he asked as he gazed into her tearful blue eyes.
“Yes!” she jubilantly replied. She tore off her leather glove and presented her ring finger. Wyatt grinned wide and slid the ring onto her finger. She laughed, having never known such joy. She met him as he was rising and kissed him, pressing her lips passionately against his. She wrapped her hands tightly around him, and the couple relished their moment of joy and the bright future that awaited.

Saber Down is Harrison Kone’s debut novel. Aside from his works of fiction, Harrison’s writing has also been featured on the front lines of combating Antisemitism.
