  Chapter 3 Remembering When

  Her grandmother had been the one who babysat her through her childhood. She was the one she went to about boys and her female problems. She was the one who taught her how to tie her shoe and her ABC’s. She had been devastated when she had died. She had been away at school. Her mother had called to tell her that her grandmother was in the hospital. She knew that her grandmother’s health hadn’t been good when she left but her grandmother wouldn’t hear of her going to school there. She had always dreamed of going to school in New York and when she was accepted to college her grandmother had all but pushed her out the door. She remembered calling to check on her grandmother for two days in a row. When they told her that she was sleeping she knew she needed her rest. She told them to let her sleep. Her heart lurched when she thought of that Sunday morning. She had awoke and gotten the call at 10 o’clock. Her mother had been crying on the phone and told her she needed to hurry. Her grandmother’s organs were shutting down and she didn't have much time. She arrived at 1 o’clock that afternoon. Her grandmother had passed at 11 o’clock. She had never been able to say goodbye. She hated that but she also knew that it had changed her life.

  When she looked at life now she looked at how she could better it. You only had one life and she wanted to live it to the fullest. She didn’t want to miss a thing. She spent the next three hours traveling around town until she came back to the house. She was glad to see Jack’s sports car gone. They spent a quiet night and she and her mother enjoyed a dinner out while her step father made something for himself at home. She was sitting watching television when the news came on.

  “New heartthrob Jack Simpson has now been seen with yet another girl. Who is she? Don’t worry ladies it’s nothing serious he says. He tells us that he is still looking for Mrs. Right but man is he making some rounds to find her. Here he is with a fourth girl on his arm within the same week. And yes here are the pictures of her leaving the next morning. That dreaded walk away from a mistake the night before. Yes those are tears. He must not pull any punches when he tells them to leave uh?”

  Victoria stared at the screen and suddenly felt sorry for the girl. How was she to know that her step brother was an ass?

  “I swear I don’t’ know what I’m going to do with him. Ever since he got that money he’s been throwing it around and now sleeping his way through the country.”

  She looked over at her step father and saw the worry. He turned to smile her way although it didn’t reach his eyes.

  “I just wish he could be more like you.” It was the first time she had ever been compared to her step brother. She had thought that Earl was proud of his son. He owned a restaurant and was looking to buy out the local newspaper as well. He seemed interested in investing his money but if he kept up the way he was going then he wouldn’t have any money left to invest. “Maybe you could talk to him. You know give him some advice. He was always so close to you. You guys were close. Do you think you could? He said you were going on a picnic tomorrow. Maybe that would be a good time. You and Drew both could maybe talk some sense into his stubborn ass hard head.”

  “Well I could certainly try. I don’t know if it will do any good but yes I’ll try.” She thought of her step brother and she wanted to cringe. She remembered what it had felt like having him inside her. She also remembered his words after and she could feel her cheeks become flushed. She had forgotten all about the picnic. Maybe if she got up early and left she could pretend to forget about it.

  The next morning she awoke early and made her way into the kitchen. Her mother was there and smiled at her.

  “I’m packing you guys a lunch to take to the watering hole. I even packed some lemonade even though I’m sure you guys will be having beer. Anyway, Jack is already here. He said that Drew would meet you there.

  Taking a deep breath she looked at her mother. It was only 9 o’clock. Why was Jack here so early? He probably knew that she was going to try and back out of it. Just then he walked into the kitchen and gathered her into his arms. He held her tight as her mother turned around to the sink. His hand grazed her ass lightly. She heard his whisper in her ear.

  “I wanted to make sure you couldn’t back out on today.” He little nibbled her ear lobe before letting her go. “Looks like we have some time. I think I’m going to help dad on the car for a bit. Let me know when you’re ready.”

  “Ok.” She turned away from him to make her way back to where her mother was frying chicken. They got back into the same old routine as when she was growing up and helping her mother in the kitchen. These were the times that they had together. She had spent a lot of time with her grandmother but nothing was like cooking with momma.

  It wasn’t long before it was time to go and she was nervous as she followed Jack to the car. As their parents watched he elegantly opened the door for her. His grin was for her eyes only and she shivered when she saw it. They slowly pulled off from the driveway before anything was said.

  “So you are willing to be alone with two men at a watering hole?”

  “Yes. Why wouldn’t I be? I mean you are an ass but I know you wouldn’t ever hurt me or allow anyone else to hurt me.”

  “Hmmm.”

  “What?”

  “You have a lot of faith in me.”

  “Not completely. I just know you and I know your father would kill you if anything happened to me not to mention my mother. And they both know who I’m with right now.” Her smile was sweet as she looked at him and cocked her head in challenge.

  When they pulled up to the woods she saw the old truck that Drew must still drive and laughed. As they got out of the small sports car they made their way through the woods to the small little cove they had found as kids. She sat down on the blanket Drew had down and smiled at the two of them. They began to eat and talked about things they had done as kids. They also spoke about where their lives were going now. Before long she found she had drank four beer and felt a little tipsy. The heat must be getting to her as well. She turned and decided to shock the both of them.

  “So you want to know something that this girl I know told me about back at school?”

  “What’s that?” Drew looked at her.

  “Threesomes. I wonder what it would feel like.” She leaned back on her elbows and laughed at them as her feet moved from side to side.

  Jack instantly sat up. “Don’t Victoria.”

  “Nobody you know. We went to other towns so it didn’t get around.

  “I’m going swimming.”

  “But we didn’t bring our bathing suits.” Jack’s voice sounded shaky.

  Chapter 4 Seduction

  “So.” Before either man could say anything she stood and walked to the tree with the swing. She threw her shirt to the ground and kicked off her flip flops. She turned to look back at the picnic blanket where both men watched her as she slid her shorts down her legs. She kicked them in their direction as she pulled herself onto the swing and pumped her legs to get it high into the air. When she broke the surface she looked over to see both men staring at her quietly.

  “No.” At his frown she hurried on. “It was so much more. It was amazing. You both are amazing.” At his smile she stood on her tip toes to kiss him briefly on the lips.

  “Hey none of that without me.” She turned to smile at Drew as he waded in to where they were. She leaned up to lightly kiss him.

  “We need to go. How about you guys come over for dinner tomorrow? I know you want to spend time with your mom and the family before you go home.” Drew smiled down at her.

  “That sounds great. I’ll bring dessert.”

  “Oh yeah? Whatcha bringing?”

  “You guys will have to see.” She said it with a seductive smile and both men knew exactly what she was talking about. When their eyes started to get darker with desire she squirmed from them. “Beat you to the shore.” She took off as fast as she could to the edge of the lake with them right behind her. She laughed when one hauled her up and threw he
r into the water.

  “You lost. You owe us a kiss.”

  She swam back to the edge of the lake for a second time. They were the ones who stopped laughing however when she emerged from the water. She knew she had a great body but when they both looked over her from head to toe like they would eat her alive it made it that more real.   Chapter 5 Back to Reality

  They rode back home in silence and she slipped into her room to change. She heard everyone out back and after changing made her way back there to hang out and hold the baby. They day slipped by fast and soon she was lying in bed thinking about the next day. She went to her suitcase and lifted out the ensemble she had bought in New York. It had been a splurge but she was glad she did it. It was black lace and fit her like a glove. She couldn’t wait to show them.
