Onyx turned and saw that Ashley’s jaw had practically hit the floor. He put a finger under her chin and lifted it up before leaning in to whisper, “You seem to have dropped this.”
Ashley felt her cheeks burning bright pink. While Jet might’ve been intimidating because of his cold demeanor, Onyx made her uncomfortably hot, to the point that part of her was starting to melt.
“Well, I’m sorry for getting your shirt messy,” said Ashley. “You two…you’re the panda bear shifters, aren’t you?”
“Recognize us from the poster?” asked Onyx.
“Yeah,” said Ashley. “Plus, you two are the frikkin’ headliners of the show.”
“You’re not one of the wives or girlfriends…and you don’t work here,” said Jet. “What are you doing backstage?”
“Some dudes named Nick and Liam invited me and my friends back stage because they ran out of chairs out in the front,” said Ashley. “Why?”
“Well, I was going to Shanghai you into helping us with our show in exchange for us not calling security,” said Jet. “But…”
“I’m game,” said Ashley. “But you’re going to have to stop with this bad boy act, Jet.”
Jet looked to Onyx and gave him a smirk before turning back to Ashley. “I am?”
“You are,” said Ashley.
“Then make me,” said Jet, giving her a smile that made her want to slap him and tear his clothes off at the same time. “Onyx. I trust you can handle making her another plate and getting her…situated, while I get another shirt?”
“Is that even a question?” asked Onyx.
Jet headed to the wardrobe section, past the dancers who were coming out of the showers and the shifters having their makeup applied by expert makeup artists. Onyx loaded Ashley up a plate of all the best food on the table, and with a pair of coffees in hand, they headed back to the couch area. By now, the couches were filled, so Onyx signaled to one of the stagehands, and the stagehand rolled over a large black lacquer chair with red silk cushions, complete with gold details on both the lacquer and in the silk fabric. Onyx sat on the trunk while Ashley ate up.
“So what brings you to Bear Buns tonight?” asked Onyx.
“These two,” said Ashley, pointing to Miranda and Linda.
“Yeah, we all work together,” said Linda. “Bear Buns seemed like the perfect way to waste a Friday night.”
“Waste?” asked Onyx. “Trust me…it’s not a waste.”
“It seems like a good way to kill a few hours,” said Miranda.
“How much do you two know about Bear Buns?” asked Onyx.
“Well, most of the dancers are bear shifters, and The Twelve Dancing Bears…they’re looking for a menage,” said Linda. “Two bears sharing one special gal.”
“Exactly,” said Onyx looking at Linda and Miranda. “There’s nothing more serious in the world than finding your fated mate…so while for you, it might just be a fun time, for the dancers here, it’s about finding true love. Nothing’s more important than that.” As Onyx finished his explanation, his eyes landed on Ashley, and she felt something inside of her beat faster.
“Wouldn’t you agree?” asked Onyx. “There’s nothing more important than finding true love?”
“Absolutely,” said Ashley softly.
Jet came back up to Onyx. He had on a fresh shirt, his hair slightly wet, but it was barely noticeably because of the naturally dark shade of his hair. He looked to Ashley, then to the chair she was in, and he had that devilish smirk again, that smirk that Ashley now realized made her both want to slap him and smooch him at the same time. Jet leaned down and whispered into Onyx’s ear.
“Alright, we’ve got to go, but don’t move,” said Onyx. “Really. Don’t get up from that chair.”
“Trust me,” said Jet, putting a hand on Ashley’s shoulder, sending sparks from his body into hers, as he moved her special chair with his other hand so that she’d be facing the stage and watching them work their magic. “You’re in for a real show tonight…babe.”
