The Archangel Jophiel and William Travis (God Wish Chronicles Book 1)

“Let"s separate ways to distract him, please carry uncle John with you since I can"t,” William said.
“Will do,” Matthew said as he readied his wings while Adelphos held John.
William stretched his wings and upon his signal both of them immediately flew in separate ways away from Paul and Hismael breaking the circle of light. Seeing them separate Paul chased after John and Matthew. He knew William does not have the power to even hurt him and decided to torment him by killing his friend and uncle in front of him. His bat like wings unfolded again and flew to chase John and Matthew. They were slower as Adelphos carried John and soon enough a spear struck Adelphos at the wings and both the archangel and John went rolling to the ground as Matthew immediately went back for them.
“Look how your friend and uncle will die!” Paul shouted.
He summoned Hismael who immediately left William. It shot continuous balls of fire again to Matthew and John on the ground as Adelphos encircled them with a faint circle of light.
William flew straight at Hismael to stop the archdemon from shooting balls of fire at them but was just knocked away by a kick from Paul. He flew again and was punched to the ground and kicked away by Paul again. He flew straight instead to John and Matthew but was immediately blown away by a ball of fire burning his wings.
“Now stay there and watch your friend and uncle die like a good boy,” Paul said as Hismael scorched them with continues fire.
The circle of light shielding them is starting to disappear. Matthew is starting to feel the heat as his ragged clothes starts to burn. William crawled towards them with his back and legs burnt unable to neither fly nor walk.
“I just want to save them!” He cried.
THE ARCHANGEL JOPHIEL
“Please help me save them!” He prayed as another fireball hit him burning and throwing him farther. „I guess this is the end, I"m sorry mom and dad. I never got to avenge your death but Uncle John is right, you would not want that," he said to himself as he lay on the grass seeing the stars.
He remembered what his father told him „never stop wishing to the stars for they do come true if we believe.
William closed his eyes and wished to the stars with all his breath as his last hope to help Matthew and John.
“I wish my death would satisfy him. I wish to please save my uncle, Matthew and the rest of the Inchorans. You can take my life as payment if you need it. Just please save them!”
“Do you want to kill him?” William heard a voice ask him.
“No, he too suffered and I know his sorrows, I just want to save my uncle, my friend and the people I"ve met in Inchora,” he replied.
“What do you want to do to him then?” the voice asked again.
“I wish him comfort for his sorrows, I wish that this fighting would be over, I just wish to go back to Inchora - I just wish for peace,” William replied.
“To fulfill your wish then I give you my service,” the voice replied and William saw a familiar sign his mother drew that night and heard the same name she called out Jophiel.
With his remaining strength he drew the sign and called out “Jophiel.”
JOPHIEL A bright light enveloped him that Paul and Hismael had to stop as the light pierced the whole area blinding them all. As the light subsided William"s eyes became bright yellow and he saw the archangel that carried him at the river and saved him from Paul. The archangel held him up and his wounds immediately healed.
“To achieve peace, patience with mercy is needed,” Jophiel said to William as if it was happy for his decision. “How can you have an archangel when the trial is
over?” Paul asked dumbfounded.
“Not all people gain angels during the trials, some
have it after,” John said awakened by the light looking proud
and happy at William for acquiring his first major archangel. “Then see the ones you love die again,” Paul said as
Hismael scorched Matthew and John with continuous fire. Adelphos enveloped them immediately again with a
circle of light but Matthew felt his strength at its last.
Suddenly, he felt a hand in his shoulders and saw William and
Jophiel holding him giving him strength.
“Is this a power boost?” Matthew asked.
“Nope, Jophiel"s powers is healing,” William replied. “We can continue to heal you and you"ll never run
out of power to keep Adelphos.”
“Happy for you brother,” Matthew said smiling as the
circle of light grew brighter.
“Thanks brother,” William said.
“You cannot defeat us with your power now,”
William shouted at Paul as the circle of light continued to
deflect the fire easily.
Then they heard shouts of Ardans retreating as they
heard voices of Inchorans behind Paul. The children and
women have arrived with Sella and Diana healing the
wounded by washing away the dark water with Aqua.
CHAPTER 24
WRATH
“It"s over Paul,” William said. “The army you brought with you is being defeated by Inchorans.”
The healed Inchorans joined with those who are still fighting knocking out more Ardans while Sella, Diana and the other women and children bound the unconscious ones.
“Then I"d bring you to hell with me!” Paul shouted as the scorching fire grew bigger and bigger.
John now healed by Jophiel summoned Haziel and surrounded the circle of light with his own light that they are now surrounded by a yellow and white circle of light.
“I can hit him with a condensed ball of light that can pierce even these flames,” John said.
“But that will kill him,” William said.
“What do you suggest we do?” John asked.
“His powers will run out, we just have to be patient and hold on,” William said as he sees Paul now emitting smoke in his body. “Give up Paul, your archdemon would consume you till you die if you keep going!” he shouted.
“You"ll die before that happens!” Paul shouted back as the flames grew even bigger and his skin starts to burn.
“He will really die at this rate,” Matthew said as he feels again being healed by Jophiel regaining strength and the ball of light grew brighter again.
“I"d hit him at his feet to injure him and that might convince him to stop,” John said.
“Be careful uncle, we should not kill him,” William said.
“I know, and I"m proud of you for showing mercy even in the face of the one who killed you mother,” John said.
“Can you keep the barrier?” William asked Matthew.
“Yes I can,” Matthew replied.
John ordered Haziel to remove their light shielding them and compress it instead to a single ray of light shooting Paul"s leg. The ray of light went through his fire unnoticed and hit Paul"s right leg. He fell down on his knees and the stream of fire stopped.
“It"s over Paul, give up already. Leave this place and the people you have corrupted and never return again,” William said looking at him.
“I do not need your mercy! You get proud just because you injured me once! You think you can defeat and banish me just like what your uncle did before! You will die even if it means I"d die with you!” as he looked at Hismael and the archdemon started to drain all the blood out of him leaving him dry to the bones.
The archdemon then started to heat up as smoke emitted all over its body and they knew it would soon explode killing all the people there.
“Surround him with your light to contain the explosion,” William asked them as Jophiel continuously healed Matthew and John.
Matthew enclosed the demon in a round light as John added his own light creating one layer on top of the other.
“Enclose it with more layers!” William shouted seeing the archdemon already at its limit.
No sooner than they were making the third layer that William saw t
he archdemon looking at him and he shouted “Take cover!”
WRATH
As it blew it shattered the entire shield surrounding it and scorching the area around it. William felt the heat burned his skin as Jophiel immediately healed him. He then asked Jophiel to go to Matthew and John to heal them as well.
When the heat and smoke subsided the archdemon was nowhere in sight and William sees only the lifeless dried body of Paul beside a small crater where Hismael once stood. His clothes was now burnt and tattered but he saw that a faint light was actually surrounding them. Matthew was able to shield them too during the explosion.
“Sorry it was a bit late,” Matthew said. “You saved me numerous times today. I can never thank you enough,” as William gave him a hug.
“Indeed,” John said rubbing Matthew"s hair. We would have died without you.
“We would have died without Adelphos,” Matthew said smiling at the archangel giving his thanks as he unsummons the archangel and his eyes returned to its brown color.
“We would need to heal a lot of wounded, even the Ardans,” John said to William looking at Jophiel.
“I know uncle,” William said looking at the body of Paul. “I hoped I could have saved him,” he said to John.
“He chose that faith William. Wrath can consume us to our deaths,” John said.
“Thank you for your help and belief to me earlier uncle,” William said. “Without it I may have succumbed to my anger as well.”
“I know you"ll have it in your heart to forgive, you are your mother"s son after all,” John said smiling at him. “Now go, the wounded need you.”
Smiling William spread his wings and flew to the injured with Jophiel to heal them.
CHAPTER 25
PEACE
“Thank you for your help,” John said to Sella. “Someone should disobey your orders to help you from time to time,” Sella replied smiling.
“What do we do to them?” pointing at the bounded Ardans.
“I would take care of them,” Lunasul said appearing behind them with a few Ardans.
“And you are?” John asked.
“Lunasul, the guide of Arda,” he replied bowing lightly to John.
“I can see Tiryn had a good descendant,” John said. “I never knew the place still existed.”
“And Chora had too,” smiling back at John.
“We lived within our means before the damned one arrived,” looking at Paul"s body.
“I am deeply sorry for the tragedy we brought upon you,” Lunasul apologized bowing to John.
“We know how the damned one corrupted them all, everything is forgiven,” John said.
“I believe the corruption of the damned one will take too long to wash. Your people will always be welcome in Inchora,” John continued.
“And if your people wishes, they too are welcome in Arda,” Lunasul replied.
“Unbound them,” John ordered the Inchorans.
“They might have been our enemies but they will now be brothers.”
The Ardans gave their gratitude to Lunasul and asked for his forgiveness.
“I can see they are healed,” Lunasul said.
“Yes they are, thanks to William,” as John called William and introduced him to Lunasul.
“I can see the virtues of Chora in you,” Lunasul said looking at William"s eyes back to its original blue and green.
“I will continue to pray and wish for your success in your journey,” as he kissed William"s head and gave him his blessings. “Congratulations for acquiring your first major archangel.”
“Thank you,” William said bowing at Lunasul.
“We won"t take much of your time, we know you would like to go back to Inchora to rest,” Lunasul said looking at Sau and bidding the other Ardans to say their apologies and goodbyes to the Inchorans.
“We shall return in the next full moon to this place with our own Aqua to repay you. We try to keep the ancient practice until the border will be no more but our Aqua is really scarce,” Lunasul continued.
“And we will be here to await you as well to make that dream closer to reality, I believe it is time as well for us to renew the communication and friendship between our cities and share more our Aqua to make this a reality,” as John offered a glass of bottle of Aqua to Lunasul as a sign of their promise.
Lunasul then gave a clay jar of Aqua to John in return.
The Ardans left in guilt but vowed to be back again to repay the sorrow they have caused. As the Inchorans bade them goodbye and the sun started to shine in the east signaling the morning.
CHAPTER 25
John new this was a dawn of a new relationship between the two cities. He never knew there were still people suffering far away from the borders that they should help. He needs to be more than just a guide now but also one who would inspire peace and hope to both Inchorans and Ardans.
“This war brought the two cities together again though the scars of this war might take longer to heal,” John said as he looks at the Inchorans and the large crater left behind by the archdemon that destroyed a lot of the grass.
“Something good happened even in such hatred,” William replied looking at the Ardans walking back to Inchora.
“Because we decided to give mercy instead of death,” John said. “Never forget the cardinal virtue you acquired today William. Patience is not just about enduring but it is also holding back our anger, forgiveness, showing mercy and seeking peace at all times.”
“I thought I failed already after the Trial of Self,” William said. “I never expected to get an archangel after the trial of self.”
“As I told you the Trial of Self is not about passing or failing. It is about learning more of your true self and your capacity for virtues. It is different for every individual. Yours is not about what you do during the Trial but rather what you do after it. Especially when you know about the story of the people that affected your life,” John said.
“And I have been lucky to have parents, relatives and friends who believed in me and helped me,” William said, looking at Matthew who is now talking cheerfully with Diana.
“Remember acquiring archangels is not only about your own personal strength and virtues. The people that you know and will know will play a large role in helping you achieve The God Wish,” John said.
“Be grateful always for the people around you and the help that they give,” he continued looking at Sella and smiling.
“I won"t forget uncle, I won"t,” William replied as they walk back to Inchora.
CHAPTER 26
WAY OF WATER
Months have passed since the battle at the Border of Dreams that it was recorded in both cities as „the day of peace" to remind the next generation to remember the importance of mercy and forgiveness than hatred and power. The Inchorans and Ardans now visit both cities freely.
The clothes of Inchorans are now worn by Ardans and the Inchorans are already using clay jars from Arda painted with vibrant colors. The mosaic glasses in Inchora are now even brighter for the sands in Arda produce lighter and brighter glass. While the cave drawings of Arda are brighter and colorful with the paint coming from the plants in Inchora.
“So this is your mosaic glass,” John said looking at William"s glass mosaic.
It shows the Ardans and Inchorans in the Border of Dreams pouring down Aqua.
“It"s beautiful,” John said.
“I want to always remember that moment to remind me of the true meaning of patience,” William said as he hangs his glass mosaic between those of his father and mother.
“I"m sure they are proud of you,” John said
“Did you prepare your things already?”
“Yes, I left some of my things in the room. I"ll be back soon uncle,” William said as he look at his glass mosaic.
“We"ll win the next football season,” smiling back at John.
“I"m sure those girls would be waiting to defeat you again,” John said laughing.

We"ll be here waiting for you as well,” hugging him.
“Are you ready to meet your relatives from your mother"s side?” He asked.
“Nervous, but Matthew will be with me. He"s friendly, I"m sure we"ll survive,”
“And you have a great friend in him, value your friends for they are your family in your journey,” John said.
“I will uncle,” William replied as they go to the library to get some of the books he will bring.
He wanted to bring some books about source speech because Sylvans are expert in it.
“Why did the Ardans never had angels?” William asked.
“Having angels does not equate to greatness William,” John replied as he opened the library door.
“Some humans accept their capabilities as ordinary humans and make the best out of it. They have made use of the souls and that is not an ordinary feat for the souls are also great guides and companions. It is actually our true nature, our form when we go back to God.”
“But will they have the chance to have angels now?” William asked. “Flying would surely ease their travel to Inchora.”
“I believe in time they"ll do. Their capacity to walk such distance is a feat in itself,” John replied as he held out a book to William about source speech.
“Remember that power is not measured in its grandness but rather in its use,” giving William a book about the use of plants.
“I will uncle,” William replied getting another book about summoning.
As they went out of the library they saw Lunasul waiting at the throne room. He greeted them both with a warm hug and William left them to discuss the matters on expanding faster the border as he packs up his things.
„One bag sure is not enough," William said to himself.
John reminded him that the journey of enlightened ones needs to have the minimum amount of material things. Since, you would have to rely with faith in the kindness of the people you will meet and the cities you will stay.
„Faith is something that can be nourished, it is more alive than what we think and is an important value to acquire the cardinal virtues," William remembered John saying to him in one of their dinners.
“An enlightened human see things with faith and lives life in faith,” John would always say.
