Omega’s Vampire Bodyguard: Tenebrae Brothers Book 2

“Sure is,” Maxwell replied. “See, if you look here, you can see the outline…”
“The baby is growing quite fast,” I commented. “From what I know, a human fetus isn’t quite to developed at this stage.”
“You’re right,” Maxwell told me with a smile. “Must be the vampiric part working overtime. But what do I know? I’m just a physician, not an obstetrician.” He shrugged and pushed up his glasses with a chuckle, like he’d told a funny joke.
“Wait, so, other than having to drink blood, everything is fine?” Caleb asked, his voice both hesitant and hopeful.
“Yes,” Maxwell said. “Er, sorry if I worried you. Sometimes I forget not everyone sees things as clinically as I do.” He mimicked Theo’s voice. “Bedside manner, and all.”
Caleb sighed. “Anyway, since you’re not scaring me to death anymore, Adriel and I have something to tell you.”
“Me?”
“We ran into a friend of yours during Caleb’s shift,” I began. “His name was Jordan.”
“He was looking for you, actually,” Caleb added. “He seemed pretty worried.”
Maxwell’s eyes flashed with recognition and surprise. “Oh! He - he was worried about me? What’d you say?”
“I told him you were safe and well, but you had business at our estates,” I explained. “I hope that was a sufficient answer.”
With a slight blush, Maxwell scratched the back of his hair. “Yeah, that’s okay. Honestly, I’m mostly surprised anyone was worried about me. I mean, I basically went missing and… No one else has noticed?”
Caleb shot Maxwell a sympathetic glance. “I’m sorry.”
“What Margaret did to you wasn’t fair,” I told him. “I know none of us have discussed your fate as of yet, but we will. I apologize it’s taken so long.”
“My fate?” Maxwell asked. “Oh, god, you’re not gonna kill me after Caleb gives birth, are you?”
“No!” Caleb cried.
Maxwell shot me a wary look.
“Nobody is going to hurt you,” I promised. I crossed my arms. “Besides your lack of freedom, we’ve all been gracious to you, haven’t we?”
Maxwell sighed. “Yeah, you have. Not what I was expecting from vampires, to be honest. Except for Margaret, you’ve all been nicer than I thought you would be. Even if Theo can’t get my name right half the time.”
I chuckled. “Oh, he knows your name. He simply likes you too much to use it.”
“What?” Maxwell blurted out, his face turning red.
“He likes having another friend around here,” I continued. “After all, you three humans are the first friends he’s had since his turning. He’s only had two vampire brothers to hang around with for a while now. Your presence has been good for him.”
“Oh.” The red in Maxwell’s ears faded slightly. “I see.”
“I like having you around, too,” Caleb said. “Even if you are my doctor and freak me out sometimes.”
Totally flustered now, Maxwell could only nod. Eventually he cleared his throat. “Well, I’ve got some notes to fill out, so…”
“Got it.” Caleb stood, ready to leave, but his eyes were fixated on the screen one final time.
“Would you like copies?” Maxwell asked.
I put my arm around Caleb. “Yes, please. The very first picture of our child is one we should keep.”
“Sure.” Maxwell printed out one for each of us and handed them over. “Here you go. And don’t forget to come back in two weeks. Drink some blood before then, too.”
Caleb grinned. “I’ll try. Thanks, Maxwell. You’re the best half-vampire-baby doctor in the world.”
“Well, I sure hope so,” Maxwell mumbled with a shy smile.

The idea of drinking blood was all fine and dandy until I actually had a glass of the stuff in front of me.
On doctor’s orders, Adriel had arranged a glass of blood for me to drink. But no matter how long I stared at it, the sight - and the idea of actually drinking it - didn’t become any easier. My palms went clammy. A bead of cold sweat trickled down my brow. The red viscous liquid stared back at me, as if daring me to try and taste it.
Despite feeling sick, my stomach growled. My traitorous baby wanted that blood, and I knew it.
Adriel put his arm on my shoulder. “Take your time.”
“I’ve been trying to do this for twenty minutes now,” I said with a sigh. “I’ve taken enough time.”
“Do you want me to ask Benji to join you?” he asked. “I recall your presence helped him, when he had to do the same thing.”
I hesitated, then, “Yeah. Please.”
“Of course. Just wait here.”
Adriel left the cottage to fetch Benji from the main house, leaving me alone with the ominous drink.
“You are really a brat, huh?” I mumbled to my unborn child. “Making me drink this stuff two trimesters early…”
The baby obviously didn’t reply - except for another stomach growl.
“Ugh…”
Benji and Adriel arrived a few minutes later. My niece tagged along as a nice surprise, too.
“Sorry,” Benji said. “I meant to leave her with Pierce, but she was having one of those moments where she didn’t want to be away from me.”
“It’s okay.” I smiled. “Maybe having her here will help motivate me.”
Benji nodded. Lark stirred in his lap and eyed the glass of blood like it was fruit juice.
“Have you tried any at all? Even a sip?” Benji asked.
“No,” I admitted. “I’m almost afraid to touch the glass…”
Adriel frowned in sympathy and stroked my back in comforting motions. “Would you like to try it together?”
“Maybe.” I sighed. “Okay. Let’s do that, at least.”
At the same time, Adriel and I reached for the glass. We held onto the stem, his fingers touching mine. But since my hands were so clammy, I was afraid I would drop it. The image of blood splattering everywhere flashed in my mind and I shuddered.
“Take it,” I said, panicked.
Adriel took the glass, and I yanked my hand back like I’d touched a hot stove. I wiped my palms on my jeans.
“I’m sorry,” I whined.
“No need,” Adriel said. “We know it’s stressful.”
I groaned and leaned back against the chair. “I don’t know why I’m acting like this… It seemed so easy for Benji. Why can’t I just do it like he did?”
“It wasn’t easy for me, either,” Benji said. “But I concentrated on other things, like you guys said. Plus, everyone was there to support me. Maybe if we invite the rest of the family over, it’ll be easier?”
“No,” I mumbled. “Sorry, but I don’t want everyone to see me freak out like this. I’ll just get embarrassed.”
“Daba,” Lark said, reaching for the glass. Her little hands slapped the table.
“I wish I wanted it as much as my niece wants it,” I muttered.
Adriel paused, raising a finger to his chin in thought. “Maybe you could want it…”
“But I don’t,” I replied. “That’s the problem. Even knowing my baby needs it… Ugh, I feel like a bad parent.”
“You’re not,” Benji said firmly. “Think about it, Caleb. This goes against everything you’ve ever known. It’s normal for you to be averse to it. It doesn’t make you a bad parent.”
I pouted, feeling hot tears behind my eyes. I didn’t want to cry, but the frustration was building too fast.
“I have an idea,” Adriel said gently. “But… it will require Benji and Lark to leave.”
Benji cocked his head. “Of course, if it’ll help Caleb. But what is it?”
“Simply put… I’m going to change his association to the blood,” Adriel explained. “By pairing it with a pleasant stimulus.”
“A pleasant… Oh!” Benji gasped and a blush spread across his face. “I - I see.”
“What?” I complained. “I don
t get it.”
Benji was trying to hide a grin as he gathered up Lark in his arms and headed for the door. “You’ll see. Let me know after if it worked, even though I’m sure it will.”
“Huh?”
The door shut behind them.
I looked to Adriel in confusion. “What the hell was that?”
A slow smirk appeared on his lips. “Would you like to know? Or would you simply like to find out?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I said, growing increasingly annoyed. “Can you just tell me?”
Adriel trailed a finger down my chest, over my growing belly, and paused at the waistline of my jeans. “I’m going to pleasure you while you drink.”
“You - Oh.”
Arousal flipped in my stomach as Adriel’s words settled in my mind. Already he was sinking to his knees on the floor. My heart raced.
“A-are you serious?” I asked, my voice almost a whimper.
“Yes.” Adriel licked his lips as he reached for my zipper. “I’m going to make this as painless as possible. By distracting you.” He arched a brow. “But you must drink the entire glass. Is that clear?”
I swallowed. “Yes.”
“Good boy,” Adriel murmured. “Go on and hold the glass.”
I bit my lip. The idea of taking the blood-filled glass into my hand still gave me an uncomfortable prickle, like getting a needle. But as my trembling fingers reached for it, I felt Adriel’s gentle grip on my still-clothed cock. I choked back a whimper of surprise.
“Shh,” Adriel soothed. “Don’t mind me.”
My throat tightened. I forced myself to grip the glass’s stem. It felt fragile, like it would shatter between my nervous fingers. I shut my eyes and paused for a moment. Meanwhile, Adriel’s hands stroked my sensitive flesh, sending spirals of pleasure through my body.
Arousal mixed with anxiety, and eventually overpowered it. I lifted the rim of the glass to my lips, trembling from the chaos of emotions inside me. The heavy, coppery scent of blood reached my nose and made me want to draw back - but Adriel removed my cock from my underwear, and was currently running his hand up my shaft.
Soon, the blood scent seemed to fade, like it was only a memory and not currently staring me right in the face.
Just down it. Just do it in one motion. You won’t even notice it.
“Caleb,” Adriel breathed against my cock. I whimpered at the feeling of his breath across the skin. When had he brought his mouth so close to me?
The glass whistled softly as I inhaled and exhaled against the rim. I peeked an eye open. The blood was close to my mouth. In between my legs, Adriel had his lips pressed to the side of my cock, soft and warm. I whimpered at the sight.
“Go on,” Adriel encouraged. He slid the flat of his tongue up the bottom of my shaft, making me moan into the glass. The sound echoed.
I sat there, frozen with conflicting emotions. Adriel’s tongue left a wet trail on my cock, making me shudder as cool air came in contact with my hot skin. He teasingly grazed his canine teeth on me to make me whimper. The pit of pleasure below my gut bloomed.
Come on, Caleb…
I tipped the glass back, and a bit of liquid touched my lips. For a split second, my body had the urge to gag - but it completely vanished as Adriel took my cock into his mouth.
I was shocked into a gasp, which turned into an instinctual urge to swallow.
I did it, I thought, stunned. I drank the blood.
But Adriel didn’t stop. He continued softly sucking my cock in a slow, steady rhythm.
He’s encouraging me to drink the rest of it.
Not wanting to let him down, I clenched my eyes shut and downed another gulp. It went down easier this time. The initial repulsed reaction had totally disappeared, replaced with acceptance. The first time would always be the hardest, and now it was over. I’d done it, and I could do it again.
By the time my orgasm had built up close to exploding, I had downed the entire glass of blood. Along with the arousal, I also felt a strange sense of fullness. Was that the baby’s satisfaction with the drink?
I placed the glass on the table with a sigh and licked my lips. My cheeks were hot, and now I was sweating in an entirely different way. Adriel had his hot, wet mouth around my cock the entire time I downed the drink, and the pleasure was almost too much to bear.
Adriel swirled his tongue around the head of my cock. I moaned and melted into my seat. My mind went blank except for the stars that burst behind my eyelids as Adriel made obscenely loud sucking sounds. A shiver rolled down my spine and I arched my back into it.
Too much, too much…
“I can’t - do this much longer,” I mumbled. My fingers reached for Adriel’s silky black hair.
In response, he took my entire length into his mouth so that the tip of my cock brushed his throat. I nearly screamed. The tidal wave of an orgasm hit me hard and fast, overwhelming me. My cum exploded down Adriel’s throat like a dam breaking.
Adriel showed off the fact that vampires didn’t need to breathe quite nicely as he stayed in place, letting every drop fall down his throat. Finally, with a devilish smirk, he grazed his fangs across my cock to give me one final full body shiver, then he lifted himself up.
“You are,” I breathed, barely able to make words, “unbelievable.”
He pressed a light kiss to my lips. “Whatever you say. I’m simply glad that worked.”
“Me too.” I laughed. “I can’t believe that was your big plan - to give me a blowjob until I drank the blood.”
“Well, when you put it that way, it sounds incredibly crude,” Adriel murmured. “I like to think of it as conditioning instead.”
“Great. So now whenever I get a papercut, I’m gonna get a boner too, is that it?”
He raised a brow. “Let’s hope not.”
“And you’re gonna blow me again, if that happens?” I teased. “Because I’ve seen some other vampire movies, and a human getting a papercut definitely did not end in a blowjob. But then again, this is real life, so…”
As Adriel grumbled and stood, I noticed the bulge in his own pants. I crossed my legs and made certain to accidentally brush his cock with my knee.
“And what about you?” I asked, flashing him a grin. “You look a bit excited yourself.”
Adriel huffed. “That display was meant to help you, my omega. But I won’t say no if you insist on getting me off.”
“Oh, I do insist.”
I pulled him closer for a kiss that tasted like blood and sex. A shiver ran down my spine as Adriel pressed his hard, clothed cock against my leg. I palmed it through his pants as we kissed, and he let out a barely restrained moan.
“You’re a naughty brat,” Adriel grumbled, smirking.
“Hey, you knew I had the hots for you before you signed up for dating me and knocking me up,” I retorted.
“Indeed.” Adriel poked his fangs into my bottom lip. “This is all my fault, in the end.”
I remained seated as Adriel stood. Thankfully he was tall enough that I could sit and still be at eye-level with his waist. I pulled him closer to me. “You’re right. Definitely is.”
As I unzipped Adriel’s pants, I found myself hoping that every blood-drinking session would be as exciting as this one.

In the months that passed, Caleb found it easier to drink blood. The positive association helped, and soon he was able to down a glass without my help - although I’m sure he would have appreciated it regardless.
We were at Maxwell’s office for a scheduled ultrasound. The doctor hummed as he set up the machine. This time, we weren’t alone. Benji and Pierce, along with Lark, tagged along to see their new unborn family member. Not wanting to be by himself, Theo joined us as well. He seemed excited to be an uncle again so soon after the first time.
“A lot of you in here, huh?” Maxwell asked as he rubbed the jelly on Caleb’s swollen belly. Caleb winced at the sharp cold sensat
ion.
“Can you blame us?” Pierce asked. “Our strange little family is about to get even bigger.”
“Strange indeed,” Maxwell mumbled. “I never even thought it would be medically possible for a human omega to bear half-vampire children - or that vampires even existed - but here we are, I suppose.”
Caleb groaned. “I know I should be excited about the baby coming soon, but it sucks being this big. I feel like a beach ball.”
Indeed, Caleb had grown particularly large. I felt it was partially my fault, since he was such a small-framed young man, and I was quite tall.
“You’re incredibly handsome,” I promised him. “Even more so when you’re bearing my child.”
Caleb blushed.
“Yeah, you have that glowing parent look about you,” Theo added as he leaned against Maxwell. “Which is totally weird, by the way. Why does that happen? Any ideas, doctor?”
“Go away!” Maxwell complained, shooing Theo. “I’m trying to perform a procedure here.”
Theo grinned but backed off.
Pierce and I exchanged a curious glance. A coy smirk played on his lips. He didn’t have to say it out loud for me to know what he was thinking.
He asked the silent question: Those two?
I nodded ever so slightly - not enough for Theo or Maxwell to notice. Definitely.
As intrigued as I was about my brother and the doctor’s growing friendship, I was more interested in my mate - and our child. I waited impatiently for Maxwell to finish the ultrasound.
Meanwhile, Lark fussed in her dad’s arms. “Ga!”
“Yes, ga,” Benji assured her. “Are you excited to see your cousin?”
Lark nibbled on his arm in reply.
“Ow!” Benji yelped. “Watch the teeth, baby girl…”
“Oh god,” Caleb complained. “What if our baby tries to eat me, too? After all that blood I had to drink…”
“You’ll both be fine,” I told him, then glanced over to Maxwell. For the first time I noticed the uncomfortable knot in his brow. “What’s taking so long, doctor?”
“Um…” Maxwell mumbled. “Well. Oh dear. There appears to be a bit of a problem.”
