  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

  ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

  AIM!

  Fame?

  How can you claim?

  When you lack an aim!

  No aim means no name.

  As streets without names,

  Is indescribable to a damsel,

  So your work becomes endless,

  When at work you’re aimless.

Even a lame with an aim,

Quickly came and earned a name,

  While many were maimed,

  For daring life unarmed!

  They thought of claiming fame,

  But life had them tamed,

For not living with an aim,

  In their struggle for fame!

  SMART WORKER

  Smart worker!

Sets out to put out this fire,

  Raging fires that deprives;

  Unemployment that makes men poorer.

  Smart worker!

His tool of intolerance duly applied,

  Crushes poverty because he’s inspired,

His creation; the affluence he desires.

  Smart worker!

Sharpens his axe as to quicken his task,

  Determined and relaxed,

Always set to pay his tax.

  Not busy doing nothing,

But in business serving the living,

Proffering solutions as he makes his living,

  Catering creations his masterminding!

  SLEEP LESS!

Give no sleep to your eyes,

Love not the bed always to lie,

  Never as an idle fool,

Basking in the holiday of fools,

Save a few winks to take,

When Mother Nature’s call’s an ache

  A sleeping doe cannot leap,

Don’t hit your toe out of sleep,

From your hand money may slip,

  When your discipline becomes sleep

There never was an early bird,

Which in famine was found dead?

Take a cue from these birds,

  Early birds are well fed

A little sleep could do much harm,

Same as a bandit even well armed,

  Your sleep only becomes sweet,

  After a hard day’s sweat!

  THE POWER OF THE PEN

  Overwhelming odds all around,

Tried hard to get off the ground,

Round and round with the hounds around,

Found no way to become profound!

A sage with a message; trapped,

  Forage for a passage: warped,

Swords couldn’t cut the steel bars,

  Muscles were inadequate.

There seemed no way out of the dead end,

Not until he got hold of his pen,

Words sharper than swords he wrote,

Hardened and proud hearts to demote.

  Wicked empires crumbled,

  The sounds of cannons rumbled,

When through the use of the pen,

Readers caught awareness; torched a den.

  Indeed mightier than the sword,

  Is the Pen,

  Producing weightier words,

In defense of even the weakest of men,

  Victory unfeigned at last,

By the use of the pen.

  ATTITUDE

For want of a good attitude,

  ‘Good Jude’ became ‘rude Jude,’

His dreams of becoming a cool duke,

  Crashed where he stood!

  Good attitude births fortitude,

A distinguishing mark of old druids,

  That ‘rude Jude’ didn’t include,

In his quest for a high altitude.

  Champions out of multitudes,

  Icons great in magnitude,

All lions clothed in good attitude,

  Never to die in servitude.

Every sage is still in the nude,

Though decked in apparel called ‘good,’

Without a cloak of good attitude,

Soon will be left alone in th
e woods!

  THE WILL-POWERED

What a strong breed of mortals,

Who come along and barriers cower,

Refuse being locked up in life’s drawer,

High achievers, propelled by will power.

Their thoroughfare’s a dead end to others,

Rough terrain can’t make them wither,

  Resources within, they’ll always muster,

  Uncannily by their will power.

Doubts refusal begets a way maker,

Any proposal of the will powered,

A must realize, come sun or showers,

Accompanying joy would make eyes glitter.

Your will power could take you up hill,

Devoid of it, many go down hill,

Befriend it to keep going still,

  Despite life’s unpalatable drills.

  PERSISTENCE

  Is wisdom in a sense!

  Though never always convenient,

  This one virtue of saints,

  They call it persistence.

  Persisting is insisting,

  Desisting from quitting,

  Resisting, despite’s uninteresting,

  Reaching always for good finishing.

  The persistent are intent,

  Unrelenting and unspent,

  Bent on their ascent,

  They’re giants undeterred.

It has brought commoners before kings,

  Some from crawling to ruling,

  The derided became the presiding,

  By simply persisting!

  MONEY

  Only filthy lucre,

Finds a place in the holiest locker,

Without it there may be no supper,

And what would you do with hunger?

Many mourn for lack of money,

The love of money left many mourning,

In the morning earn your money

So you’ll have money for your evening honey!

This reward from a just payer,

  Never to replace your maker,

Work to deserve rather than to desire,

And soon you’ll become a millionaire.

  Ownership comes with money,

  A stewardship not for dummies,

  Friendship with the Phony?

And you could be stripped of your money!

  PRAYER

  What great dismay,

  When expectations are delayed,

  And human aspirations decay,

  Man! You need to pray!

Desperately in search of a way,

  To rescue your desires waylaid,

If your best bet is to foray,

You’re in danger except you pray!

All your efforts seem to fail,

And there’s a message due for relay,

To heaven your soul to save,

The fastest means would be to pray!

There is a God that owns the day,

Affairs of men he holds ‘oer sway,

The cost of good he would defray,

If only men would learn to pray!

  BUT FOR GOD!

In hot pursuit of a Cod,

Their Yacht sank in the Fiord,

Fought in vain against the floods,

  Guts failed, but for God!

With all their might and ounce of blood,

Men seek the heights, to ride in the clouds,

Many fight to change their world,

Couldn’t live another night, but for God!

  Against all odds,

Some push on, trusting in swords,

  Crushing the innocent, despite’s absurd,

Men would be paying to breathe if not for God.

Even those who chose to plod,

Gunning for safety via the Fiord,

  Got stuck in the mud,

Wouldn’t have escaped from quick sand but for God!

  IMAGINE

  May never have been,

Seemed like it won’t come into being,

  But if well-imagined,

  I’ll bring it in.

  Where hopes are dim,

  And men no longer keen,

  Few sail clean,

  Who dare to imagine.

  In the midst of sin,

  With many growing lean,

Those who had cause to grin,

  First imagined!

  None could brave the ocean,

  Though were most determined,

  Only those who could imagine,

  Came up with an engine!

  DREAM AGAIN!

  Like in a lonesome train,

Is to have your dreams slain,

  ‘cept you dream again,

You can’t get in the right lane.

As a blind without a cane,

  Finds way with much pain,

  So progress can be restrained,

  Without a good dream ingrained.

  Men, your dream may taint,

  Saying it seems insane,

  Save it from the drain,

  Dare to dream again!

Realize your dreams and break chains,

  The wise dream into gains,

Lack of a dream is a bane,

You’ll rise again if you’ll dream again.

  SWEET VENGEANCE

  Many saw him as non-sense,

They said he stood no chance,

For he took not a proper stance,

  To shine in life’s dance.

  Viewing from behind his lens,

He knew he was no dunce,

  And so made ardent plans,

  To get his sweet vengeance

  Determined as a freelance,

On the lookout for the big ones,

  In one calculated advance,

Up he went in a prance

  Now, from his victorious distance,

  He saw their surprised faces,

  Oh what a sweet vengeance,

  An excellent final performance.

  THE SKILLFUL

  Some can’t have better meals,

  Though their land they’ve tilled,

  Still couldn’t make any kill,

For they must sharpen their skills

If with skill you power your mill,

Then you’ll churn out a great deal,

Good, that’ll fetch you dollar bills,

And there’ll be no more bitter pills.

  Many remain jobless still,

With no place behind any wheel,

  Going thru life unfulfilled,

For want of the needed skills

It’s not in how you feel,

But for you to break the seals,

So you can go faster uphill,

  Powered by your skills.

  WEALTH TREATY WITH LIFE

For fair treatment some sign a treaty,

Not to lack condiments for variety,

  Needed to make life spicy,

Though some see this as worldly

Many won’t be living in pity,

If they knew their remedy for poverty,

With life they ought to have a treaty,

As to be assured of its bounties.

Some see life as full of injustices,

In it’s choice of wealth trustees,

But as it is in the military,

Each party has its own duty

  For life would deliver fully,

If you are proven to be trustworthy,

Just as it rains upon all equally,

But for want of diligence, some still go empty.

  THE MIND

  The human mind,

A great deep of a kind,

The richest mine you can find,

The best instrument of the refined

  A thinker’s magic wand,

  With which transformations are designed,

  Erstwhile failed purposes redefined,

  Their dying embers rekindled.

  Walk down its spacious lines,

  A
nd discover the precious and fine,

To recover your losses with time

And you’ll be up and full of smiles.

With a guard over your mind,

  Confusions won’t keep you entwined,

  Distractions you would smite,

To take your place amongst great minds.

  THE USE OF THE MIND

  All world changers who proved,

  That mind reigns over matter,
