“Nigga, shut the fuck up,” Dante said, angrily. “I was always coo with you and shit, nigga. I never said shit about you or nothin’ like that. If I had seen whatever the fuck it is that you seen, I woulda went out my way and made sure that you knew and shit ‘cause I ain’t wanna see another nigga out in these streets doin’ what I was doin’ get caught up in that fucked-up system. Nigga, you did that shit to me and shit, and now you wanna backpedal.”

“Fuck you, Dante,” Breon said, feeling bold. “I wasn’t your daddy, so that wasn’t my problem. Nigga, you lucky I ain’t got no gun on me or else I would kill you right here and right now, my damn self. You fucked with my girl and shit and went too far, all over some bullshit from way back when that I ain’t even have nothin’ to do with.”

Just as Dante decided that he didn’t want to listen to anymore of Breon’s bullshit, he cocked his gun. Just then, bullets came flying through the back door. Glass shattered as the bullets ricochet off of a wall in the kitchen and over toward the sink. Immediately, Dante ducked, out of reflex. When he realized what was going on, it was too late. Breon had lunged forward with his hands around his neck. Dante struggled to breath as his gun was smacked out of his hand.

Dante and Breon scrapped on the living room floor, practically rolling around like dogs on the ground. In the kitchen, Wayne and Ray had busted into the backdoor. Immediately Trell found himself with two guns pointed to his one. Reluctantly, realizing that he was outnumbered, he set his gun down on the table and held his hands up. Like any other man would, he begged for his life, hoping that these two dudes with guns wouldn’t shoot.

Wayne listened to how Breon was scrapping with Dante on the living room floor. Furniture was being bumped out of the way, as well as lamps and pictures being knocked off of the wall. Blazingly, Wayne fired, putting a bullet into Trell’s stomach. Ray then lunged forward and snatched the gun off of the kitchen table. The two men then rushed into the living room where Wayne leaned over and pressed his gun into Dante’s forehead. He’d been on the ground, taking a beating from Breon. Streams of blood ran down the sides of his face, one of which crossed over his eyelid and went to the right. Dante froze as he realized he was outnumbered and, virtually, helpless. His heart sank as it pumped in his chest. Once again, he felt as if his chance at something had been taken from him.

“Stand the fuck up,” Wayne said, looking into the eyes of the man that humiliated him.

“Okay, nigga,” Dante said, standing up. “Okay.”

Dante got onto his feet and kept his arms high. Just as he turned and looked at Breon, Wayne, and Ray standing next to one another, the front door was shot open. With the help of the wind, and a close range gun shot, the door swung open and slammed against the wall behind it. All of the men ducked down, Wayne and Ray keeping their guns pointed toward the door. In came Nikki, with a wind that rushed through the house and out of the back.

“I wish one of y’all niggas would shoot me,” Nikki said, holding her gun firmly. She pointed it at Breon. “Try some stupid shit like that and I will blow your boy Breon here head off and have a good laugh afterward.”

Ray and Wayne looked at one another. Sure, they had more power than Nikki as it was two of them to her one. However, neither of them had the heart to shoot a woman. This was especially so if the woman had already been a victim of something terrible, such as Nikki.

“Yeah, it’s me,” Nikki said, walking into the house. She flipped the living room light on, allowing everyone to see her bruised face and head. “Nigga, how the fuck you gon’ leave me kidnapped, in this very fuckin’ house, and act like I ain’t nothin’ worth comin’ to get since you was the reason that I was caught up in this shit to begin with?”

Breon was at a loss for words. He shook his head. “Look, Nikki,” he said, “I ain’t mean whatever I said and shit, but I knew if I woulda came and got you, this nigga woulda just killed the both of us.”

Dante snickered. “Damn,” he said, shaking his head, now feeling brave because he couldn’t imagine his situation getting any worse. “This nigga even got problems with the damn side chick.”

Nikki looked at Dante. She despised every piece of him, inside and out. In the flash of a second, she’d turned her gun toward Dante, lowered it to angle toward his groan, and fired. He screamed loud enough that the people working late in the skyscrapers downtown could probably hear. Dante grabbed his crotch as he toppled over.

“Nigga, you lucky I don’t kill your ass,” Nikki said. “After what the fuck I went through and what the fuck I had to do to get free. You ‘bout to pay for this shit.”

“Don’t kill me, Nikki,” Breon said. “I swear, I was gon’ come for you.”

  “Yeah, he was,” Wayne said.

Nikki looked at Wayne, knowing that she had no problems with him. “Wayne,” she said. “This ain’t got nothin’ to do with you. You know I ain’t got shit against you. I just got a little problem with Breon. As far as I’m concerned, you and whoever the fuck this is can leave. I ain’t goin’ nowhere until I talk to Breon. But, if y’all don’t leave, then I’mma just get madder and madder.”

With Dante sobbing on the floor from his pain, Wayne and Ray looked at one another then Breon. “Go on, y’all,” Breon said, not wanting anything to happen to his friends. “I’ll be okay.”

“Nigga, after what this nigga did to me,” Wayne said, pointing at the floor. “I ain’t goin’ nowhere without this nigga.”

“Take him,” Nikki said, nonchalantly. “I don’t care.”

Quickly, Wayne grabbed Dante by his shoulders. With Ray’s help, he carried him back out to the backyard, where Dante’s fate was awaiting him. He moaned and whined as they dragged him, his blood smearing not unlike the way Edric’s had on the floor in Charles’ store. Dante felt his heart hurt just before he was pulled out into the cold. Seeing Trell’s dead body was just too much, and he knew how it would impact Edric.

Alone in the house, Nikki looked at Breon. “Take your clothes off, nigga,” she ordered.

“Take my clothes off?” Breon asked. “What the fuck for?”

Nikki pushed the barrel of her gun into Breon’s manhood, causing him to tense up as his valuable meat felt threatened. “Take your fuckin’ clothes off, nigga,” she said, speaking with her lips tight.

Breon did just as he was told, sliding out of all of his clothes. He only stopped when he stood before her, wearing nothing but socks. Nikki looked at Breon’s soft, swinging manhood. Looking very heavy, it slapped against his inner thighs as he moved. She shook her head. “To think,” she said. “I was caught up in all this bullshit ‘cause of that big dick. I feel so stupid.”

“Nikki, look,” Breon said. “I was gon’ come get you. We even went and looked for you and shit.”

“Yeah, right,” Nikki said, rolling her eyes. “You lucky I don’t wanna kill you, but I want you to know just how the fuck I felt. Go upstairs.”

Breon had tried to ask why he was going upstairs, but stopped once Nikki threatened to use the gun again. He climbed the steps. Like Trina and Nikki, he went back to the corner bedroom. There, he turned around, looking like a confused, overgrown boy.

“This is where the fuck he kept me,” Nikki said, enraged. “Right here!”

Breon showed a face of remorse. “I’m sorry, Nikki.”

“Shut up,” Nikki said. “Where the fuck is your phone?” she asked.

Quickly, Breon pulled it out of his pocket. “What you want the phone for?” he asked.

“Don’t worry about all that,” Nikki said. Nikki snatched the phone from him and stuffed it into her own pocket. She then told him to turn around.

Breon did as he was told, not resisting because Nikki seemed crazy enough to do exactly what she’d done to Dante to him. He stood in place as Nikki used a sheet to tie his arms to the bedposts, virtually trapping him in the room like a prisoner. She backed away once she’d pulled the knots very tightly, looking at Breon’s naked body sprawled across the bed. She’d gone
overboard with the knots, wanting Breon to suffer in this room for as long as possible before even possibly getting loose.

“You can’t just leave me here,” Breon asked, pulling at the posts with his arms. He couldn’t get loose. “Come on, Nikki. Fuck! You can’t just leave me here.”

Nikki walked over to the bedroom door and stepped out into the hallway. She reached in, smiled, and grabbed the doorknob. “Nigga, it ain’t like we was together,” she said. “I’m not gon’ risk myself to come get you. I could get killed or somethin’. Fuck that. I’m just the side chick.”

Breon watched as the room quickly became dark when Nikki closed the door.

  CHAPTER 12

Breon was discovered by the police within an hour or so. The gunshots at the house had gotten the attention of the neighbors and they called the police. Upon showing up, the police discovered not only that Breon was naked and tied to a bed upstairs but also that Dante was unconscious in the snow, naked as well. Dante was rushed to the hospital where he was able to make a full recovery, like Edric. However, upon being released from the hospital, not only was the video of him being made to strip out in the snow on the internet for all to see but he was also facing a litany of charges. The police were able to connect he and Edric to Charles’ death, as well as the kidnapping of Trina and Nikki, among other things. Within a year, Dante was put away for twenty years.

When Nikki left the house, she got into her car with Gracelyn and Trina and left. Being the bigger person, she took Trina home and apologized for messing around with her man. She even went as far as admitting it was a mistake. Trina accepted her apologies, but it took months to get over the feeling of being scorned, lied to, and pulled into such a scary situation. She quickly gathered her clothes and moved out, leaving all of the bills for the apartment to fall on Breon’s head. Trina stayed with her sister, Monique. Breon tried to make amends for the next several months, but none worked. Furthermore, he lost his job. All of this snowballing on him caused him to have to move in with his father over in Gary until he got back on his feet.

Nikki decided to change her life after that night. She was done with the street/thug type of guys. She decided to go to college and eventually completed a degree. While her relationship with her mother remained strained, she still tried to stay relatively close with her, even though the tension was there. By her second year of college, Nikki had met a nice guy who was getting his Masters so he could go into teaching. The two had a connection, which surprised Nikki. Shortly after graduating, her boo proposed. Feeling the ring slide onto her finger felt so liberating, as she’d never be the side chick again.
