  “Next time, maybe.”

Of all the women in the world, I never would have thought this one would be the one to undo me in every possible way.

  “Maybe.”

Her hand tightens on my throbbing shaft as her thumb sweeps over the tip.

“Fuck, Carly.” I suck in a breath. “I can’t keep it together with you.” I grab the front of her bra and tug it down to her waist. “I want to do everything to you at once.” I pinch one pink tip, rolling it between my fingers.

“You’re going to have to pick an order, because I’m pretty sure that’s not possible.” Her back arches into my touch. “But I guess you can try if you want.”

“I’m definitely going to fucking try. I can tell you that.” I yank down her panties and start to fuck her with my fingers, rubbing her clit with my thumb while I continue to pull and pinch her nipples. “I want it all. Everything you’ll let me take.”

Her pussy is already clenching around me, milking my fingers as her thighs start to tremble. I yank my hand away. “Not yet, Carly. I’m feeling fucking greedy right now. You don’t come for anything but my dick inside you, understand me?”

  I immediately regret the words.

I didn’t mean to say them.

  Dirty talk is one thing.

  Dirty demands is another.

Her brown eyes lock on mine, narrowed with irritation.

“Then you better get this show on the road.”

I LIKE THE way Levi talks in the bedroom.

And I’m not ashamed of it.

I run my hand down his shaft again, biting my lip at the thought of it inside me.

  Of him inside me.

What will he be like? Will he move fast?

  Slow?

Will he put it in me nice and easy, or hard and rough?

The anticipation has me trying to rub my thighs together to ease the ache building there.

“Nope.” Levi shoves his hand between them, blocking my attempt at relief. “Only my cock.”

“Then get on with it.” I don’t mean to sound irritated.

  Actually, I think I do.

  “Now.”

  His brows lift. “Yes, ma’am.”

Levi leans to one side and opens the drawer on his nightstand, pulling out a row of condoms. I stare at the strip.

He tears one off and lets the others fall to the bed beside me. My eyes follow them as they drop.

Levi smirks down at me. “You think this was going to be a single round experience?”

  Maybe.

  Yeah.

I tip my head to count the rest of the condoms. “There’s four more there.”

He glances at the clock as he rips open the package. “It’s only nine o’clock, Pinky.”

I watch as he rolls the rubber down his length, muffling the pattern inked into the skin there. “The snake probably can’t breathe now.”

Levi’s head tips back and he laughs. “You make this a very different experience, you know that?” He drops over me. “And I mean that in the best way possible.” His hand reaches between our bodies and notches the tip of him against the opening of me. “You still sure you want to get on with this?”

“You make it sound so sexy.”

“Not my words, Pinky. Yours.” He catches my lips as one hand hikes my left leg high and wide. “You just say the word.”

“Get on with it.” I don’t have time to smile at my own words because they are barely out of my mouth before he’s sinking into me, strong and solid, until he’s fully seated.

I don’t get a breath before he’s out again, barely hanging on before his hips thrust forward, filling me once again.

And Levi doesn’t stop. Doesn’t slow down. Not even when he grabs my right leg and shoves it as wide as my left, giving him room to sink deep enough his body rubs mine with each stroke.

It’s nothing like the awkward, frequently uncomfortable, experiences I’ve had before. The solid thrust of his hips against me is smooth and relentless, each one perfectly timed and perfectly executed.

I think Levi’s done this a lot, and right now I’m very appreciative of that fact.

“You’re so good at this.” I pull his face closer. I want to feel connected to him by more than just the spot where his body slides into mine.

Levi comes easily, his wide frame carefully settling against me, his arms tucking tight at my sides as his hands slide up to cradle the back of my head, supporting it as his mouth claims mine.

  It’s what he does.

  Claims.

It’s not just kissing with Levi. Not anymore.

He owns my whole body right now. Maybe even my soul.

His lips stay on me, moving from my mouth to my neck, stopping just where it meets my shoulder and sucking, raking his teeth against my skin. The sensation is unbelievably sexual and it spears straight to where his body joins mine, making it more sensitive.

I try to grab at his shoulders, fumbling to find something to do with my hands, needing to hang on as the room starts to spin around me. I try for his back. His waist. His hips.

My palms slide lower, gripping the flex of his butt as he presses deep into me.

“Damn it, Pinky.” Levi groans against my skin as his movement hitches for the first time.

I dig my fingers into the solid muscle under them, pulling as he pushes. Another long groan drags through his lips.

  “Do you like that?”

I pull him into me again and Levi’s jaw clenches tight as his head drops to the pillow beside my head. “It’s a love hate thing.”

I grip him harder, pull more, lifting my hips to meet his.

As much as I liked what Levi did on his own, I’m certainly enjoying this even more. I like seeing that I can make him feel good.

I like knowing I’m just as much a part of this as he is. It’s not something I’m allowing him to do to me.

I want to give as much as I get, and while I might not be as skilled as Levi is, I’m certainly willing to try anyway.

“Tell me what to do.” I curl my legs, trying to find a little more leverage.

“I’m not giving you any pointers, Pinky. You’ll kill me.” Levi’s body goes rigid when I get my feet planted on the mattress and use them to press up against him. “Damn it, Pinky.” His hand snakes between us, immediately going to rub against the bit of me aching in the most desperately wonderful way. His other hand pins my hips to the bed. “No more.”

The easy push of his body into mine changes. Levi’s movements get a little jerkier. More aggressive.

  More focused.

I hold onto him as my body bounces with each thrust, the tip of him stroking something deep inside as his fingers continue to work. It’s too much. More than I think I can handle, making my body tense and my thighs shake.

  Until it’s not.

All the tension, the ache that hurts so much it feels good, all of it splits at the same time. My hips buck and my nails scratch as the world seems to stop except for the things he makes me feel.

Levi collapses on top of me, his hips still barely grinding into me in slow pulses.

His chest is heaving. His breath is coming fast and rough.

He leans up, his eyes resting on mine. “What the fuck just happened?”

I don’t actually know, but I’m pretty confident in one thing.

“Nothing I can’t make happen again.”

  ****

  “PINKY.”

I roll away from the sound waking me up from the best sleep I’ve had in as long as I can remember.

Levi’s low chuckle is close to my ear. “It’s time to get your sweet ass out of bed.”

I don’t open my eyes. “No, thank you.”

His hand comes to palm my hip over the blankets covering it. “I love that sweet little mouth of yours almost as much as I like the ass that needs to get up.”

  “I’m tired.”

“I’m not going to fuck you like I did last night if you won’t
get up the next morning.”

I snap my head and glare at him.

“There’s my girl.” He leans down to kiss me, his mouth lingering on mine. “Good morning.”

“Good morning.” I roll toward him, ready to slide my hands over his skin. I lean up when my palm meets the soft fabric of his shirt. “You’re already dressed.”

“Someone had to get up and make breakfast.” He holds out a cup of coffee. “Cause it sure as hell wasn’t going to be you.”

I hide my smile behind the rim of the mug. “Thank you.”

It’s almost funny that Levi doesn’t realize how blatantly kind and caring he is.

  Almost.

He leans back against the pillows, tucking one hand behind his head as he watches me drink my coffee. “What do you want for lunch today?”

“Violet will be jealous if you start bringing me lunch every day.” I stop mid sip. “Actually, I meant to talk to you about that.”

His brows lift, but he doesn’t say anything, just waits for me to continue.

“If I can talk the administrator into it, would you be interested in bringing a couple of the trucks to Elm Grove for lunch one day?” I wait, and when he doesn’t say anything I keep explaining. “The facility would pay for all of the food and you could keep it simple. Maybe just offer a couple options.”

His lips barely lift. “Yeah. I could do that.”

I give him a smile. “Good. Violet will be excited.”

“Well we want Violet to be excited.” His eyes stay on me. “You didn’t tell me what you want for lunch.”

  “Surprise me.”

“I guess it’s about time I get to be the one surprising you.” He leans up and pushes off the bed. “Get your ass in gear so you have time to eat before we leave.”

“Yes, sir.” I wink at him when his gaze bounces to mine.

Levi shakes his head as he leaves the room. I hurry to get dressed, pulling on a pair of houndstooth print pants and a tailored tank, grabbing a fitted cardigan before sliding my feet into a pair of black ballet flats and rushing out the bedroom door. I nearly collide with Moon. “Oops.” I bounce a few steps back. “Sorry.”

He holds one hand up my way, yawning. “You’re fine, Sweetheart.”

“Not your sweetheart, dick.” Levi glares at Moon, grabbing my hand and pulling me down the hall.

“Dude. She’s yours. We get it.” Moon’s foggy eyes narrow on Levi. “But being yours makes her ours too, so you better unkink your cock.”

I blink at Moon. I’m not sure I understand what he’s meaning by me being theirs.

His head tips back and he stares at the ceiling. “Nobody shares in this house, Carly.” He wipes one hand down his face. “You might be as bad as he is.” Moon bumps open the door to the bathroom. “You explain it to her. I gotta piss.”

I turn to Levi. “What is he talking about?”

I might be getting more comfortable with a lot of things, but I’m definitely a one man kind of girl, and I want the man I’m with to be a one girl kind of man.

“I’ll tell you on the way.” He tries to grab me, but I side-step his reach.

“No. I would like to know the answer to my question now.” I cross my arms. “Please.”

Levi’s lips lift at the edges. “Why does that not surprise me?”

“Then tell me so we can go.”

“We’re a team, all of us.” He steps closer. “Moon, Hawk, Preacher, Tracker, me, we’re like a family.” His eyes skim over my face. “If you’re with me, then you’re part of that family, and that means each of us will do what it takes to keep you safe.”

I turn back to the still-closed door before looking back to Levi. “Safe from what?”

His jaw barely clenches. “From your father. From the men who work for him.”

My face goes cold. Maybe this is more serious than I thought. “Why would they want to hurt me?”

His eyes drop mine. “To prove a point.”

“Better hurry.” Moon’s voice makes me jump.

I whip around to face him. He shoots me a smile that doesn’t quite reach his eyes. “Don’t want to be late for work.”

I stare him down for a minute. They’re keeping something from me.

“Fine.” I turn and march down the hall. “But this isn’t over.”

  “Wouldn’t have expected any less.”

I’m filling a plate with French toast and sausage when Levi wanders in from the hall. He spent a few hushed minutes conversing with Moon and I’m irritated by it.

I came here for answers, not more gosh darn questions.

“King is the head of The Horsemen now. He will come for you to prove he can take you from me.” Levi rubs his hands together slowly. “Especially since he knows you’re his daughter.”

“He doesn’t know I’m his daughter.” I bite a sausage link in half, taking my frustration out on it as I chew.

I knew about The Horsemen. I knew about Herbert. I’m not sure if finding out they’re on the same team makes all this better or worse.

“Where do you think that picture came from, Carly?” He moves in closer. “You think it was some random thing?” He shakes his head at me. “There’s only one possible answer to where that came from. It was King. He sent it to you.”

I chew a little slower, the desire to swallow the food lessening with each passing second. “Why would he do that?”

“King believes we took everything from him.” Levi reaches for me. “He blames us for his downfall.”

“I wasn’t part of that. Why do I matter?”

“You matter because he believes you belong to him.” Levi pauses. “Not me.”

I glance to where Moon is standing at the opening of the hall. “What about Kerri?”

Levi rubs his eyes. “Fuck.” He shakes his arms out. “King kidnapped her.”

I drop my fork. “What? When?”

Levi gently takes the plate from my shaking hands. “A while back. Kerri is safe now.”

“He kidnapped his own daughter?” I scrub my hands down my hips, trying to wipe away the sweat making them cold.

“He will try to get to you too, Carly. Especially now that you’re here.” His eyes shift away. “Staying with me.”

“Has he tried to hurt anyone else?” I look from Levi to Moon. Neither of them returns my gaze. “Answer me.”

“One of his men took Shelly.”

“Who’s Shelly?” I press my hands to my head. It’s hot. They’re cold. Maybe they can help each other out, because I don’t have time to freak out.

  “Hawk’s girl.” Moon steps closer.

“Who’s Hawk?” I’m glad they’re answering my questions, but honestly it’s not helping at all.

“He’s one of us.” Levi tips his head to Moon. There’s ten.”

“So Herbert is the head of The Horsemen and he’s kidnapped two women, one of them being his daughter.” Two kidnappings. I nod my head as I work through the information I thought I wanted to know.

Maybe I don’t want all the answers I came here for. Maybe ignorance was bliss.

“And he tried to have Moon and Gypsy killed.” Levi presses his lips together.

I size Moon up. He’s giant. Tall and broad and probably capable of handling himself. “So two kidnappings, and two attempted murders.”

“And he burned down Shelly’s house.”

My eyes sting as I stare at Moon. “Two kidnappings, two attempted murders, and arson.”

  “And—”

I hold one hand up. “You know what? I don’t think I want to know any more.” I look between the men standing in front of me. “This is insanity.” I grab my plate and a new fork from the stainless steel bin in the center of the table. Then I sling my purse over one shoulder and storm past the men staring at me.

This was a stupid, stupid idea.

I yank open the door to Levi’s truck and topple in, balancing my plate as I buckle my belt.

Safety first. Don’t want to die in a wrec
k before my father can kidnap me and try to kill my boyfriend.

I sit up straight, staring at the door to the garage as Levi comes in.

This guy Herbert hurt my mother in ways I still don’t fully understand. May not want to.

He hurt the sister I never knew I had. Hurt Jill.

  He hurts everyone.

That means he will try to hurt Levi.

  If he hasn’t already.

The second the door opens I start asking questions.

“Has Herbert tried to kidnap you?”

Levi leans down to peek into the cab at me. “No.”

“Has he tried to kill you?”

  “Not technically.”

“What does that mean?” My brain is overflowing and I need it to get with the program.

“It means I’m pretty sure they weren’t trying to hit us during the drive-by.” Levi slides into his seat, one hand coming to tentatively rest against my thigh. He studies me for a minute. “How ya doin’, Pinky?”

“I’m not sure how to answer that.” I shove in a bite of French toast, my eyes immediately dropping to the plate on my lap. “This is really good.” I don’t even hide my full mouth when I talk. I’m way past that point already.

And it’s not even eight in the morning yet.

“Everything’s going to be okay. I promise.”

“Everything’s already not okay.” I shove in another bite and keep talking around it. “I’m pretty sure I’m a product of rape of a minor. The guy who did it is still just as horrible as he was then.” I swallow down the custardy spiced bread, scanning the truck for a drink.

Levi holds out a to-go cup.

I take it and swig down the fresh coffee. “And apparently he’s kidnappy and murdery in addition to rapey.”

“You’re dealing with this better than I expected.” Levi pushes the button on the garage door and starts the engine.

“This is better than you expected?” I stuff in another bite.

“You’re eating. I’m taking that as a good sign.”

“It's because it’s good and I don’t want to waste it.” I chug the coffee, liking how it burns my throat a little. It steals my attention from the pile of problems stacking up around me.

  But there’s one I can’t ignore.

I turn to face Levi. “Is he going to try to hurt you?”
