He fucked her with his finger while taking a breast in his mouth again, licking then biting the nipple. The way she rolled into his hand with every thrust, her panting, he knew she was close. He used his thumb to circle her clit, then thrust, circle then thrust until she came hard, her body arching over the bed, her breast pressed into his face.
Her orgasm clenched his finger, and he plunged every so often to draw out her aftershocks until her body twitched and she stilled his hand with her own. She laid soft kisses on his face, not his lips, but his cheeks and his forehead, his chin.
When he withdrew his finger, she crawled naked from the bed. Was that it? Dave was in serious pain, his cock throbbing, his balls heavy, but if that was it, that was okay. If he had to, he would take himself in hand in the shower. Quietly.
She headed over to her bag where she dug around for a second before pulling out a condom. With no sense of embarrassment, she crawled back over to him and opened the package.
Relief flooded Dave in a wave. “We don’t have to.”
She stopped tearing at the corner with her mouth. “Do you want to?”
He swallowed. More than anything. “Yes.”
“So do I.” And that was it. She fisted his cock, and when she rolled the condom over his dick with her other hand, slowly winding it down his full girth, his hips rose to meet her. So. Fricking. Good.
She squeezed his length and then straddled his thighs. Before she slid down, she took his dick and rubbed at her entrance, using her wetness to work his tip inside her. As she worked his full length inside her, she gasped and leaned over his chest, her arms locked on both sides, her hair swinging in front of her face.
He groaned when she became fully seated. He wanted to ram into her like an animal, but he didn’t move and let her rest there. He couldn’t keep his eyes off her hairless pussy, where she joined with him. It was the most erotic thing he’d ever seen. He squeezed her hips unintentionally, but she must have read that he wanted something and started moving over him.
She drew out each slide, up and then down. It was pain and pleasure at the same time. Distantly, he wondered if it was the same for her. Her mouth was agape, her eyes closed. Mesmerized, he watched where he entered her. But it was like torture. He could no longer breathe with the desire that had tightened every muscle, the tension that held his body in purgatory.
With a growl, he flipped them so she lay on bottom. But the bed was small and his positioning all wrong so that her shoulders rested near the edge of the bed, her head hanging down over the side. Holy shit. He pumped once hard into her. Her long, pale neck was arched back, her mouth open, and she moaned, “Dave.” He pumped her hard again, each time the jerk taking her farther off the bed.
“Oh, my God, faster,” she said.
And then he was lost in the sensation. Gone. His body moving by rote to get to that pinnacle of release it so badly needed. He clutched her hips to stay her and pounded into her. The room disappeared, only her pale body in front of him as the world awoke outside, lightening the room to a gray like her eyes.
He held her firm on one hip and palmed her breast with the other. They were so beautiful, her shoulders now arched over the side of the bed from his pounding, her breasts splayed and bouncing with his every thrust. God, if he could just stay like this forever.
Over and over she repeated, “Oh, God, Oh, God,” and it was her voice that put him over the brink. Everything went black as his orgasm hit, and for a moment, there was only pleasure radiating through his body, extending into every cell. It was heaven. Sierra was heaven.
Chapter 5
Dave had broken the one cardinal rule.
No sex the night before a match. Technically, it had been in the morning, so maybe luck would still be with him for the games he could make today.
Even though he had offered the shower to Sierra, she had declined and told him to go first. They hadn’t cuddled much after their lovemaking. He only had the chance to take her in his arms and hold her for a few minutes before she’d reminded him they had to get going. She hadn’t been harsh about it, but then she hadn’t been super lovey-dovey either like other women were after sex. Maybe she was keen to get back to Dick. Which was fair enough.
Now he sat waiting for her to finish in the bathroom, the national news on low on the TV. When she stepped out, she looked as perfect as she did yesterday, hair smooth, makeup applied, not one ruffle in her appearance. She must carry everything she needed in that large purse of hers. The last thing she did was pack her laptop.
“You ready?” she asked as she slung on her bag.
“Yep.” He jumped up from the bed, and in two strides had the door open for her. She walked out in front of him and then stopped and waited as he closed the door behind them. He’d just had the best sex of his life, but Sierra was distant. He wanted to take her hand, make a claim on her, but he understood on some level she wasn’t ready for that.
Instead he shoved his hands in his pockets and offered her his arm like he had done last night.
She laughed, which warmed him down to his toes. He could get used to that sound. Finally, after giving him a look that he couldn’t read, she took his arm, and he led her across the motel parking lot.
They waited as traffic cleared before crossing to the truck stop, but she kept her hand in his arm. It made him happy, Sierra on his arm. They were opposites, and he wondered briefly how they must appear. A gorilla of a man with dark hair and a petite, beautiful blonde. Most men would be envious, and like he had wondered with Dick, confused how the hell she could be with someone like him.
After they got coffees and a pastry to go from the gas station shop, they stepped back outside.
“Stay here a minute,” she said. “It’ll be easier for me to get us a lift on my own.”
What? No way. “Sierra, I’m totally happy to pay for a taxi. I’d rather do that.” Especially now that his heart had latched onto her over the last few hours. It hadn’t taken long, which was unusual for Dave.
“Why pay when we can get it free?” She had already started walking away toward a parked semi in front of the diesel pumps.
He wanted to go after her. Shit. He kicked the brick building with his toe. She walked around to the far side of the cab of the truck and out of view. Thirty seconds felt like an hour as he waited for her to come back into sight. He was just about to walk over there when she popped back around the front and waved him over.
The sun was just coming up and reflected gold off the large front window of the semi as he approached. Not only had he never hitched before, he’d never ridden in a large truck like this. For some reason, that made him feel inadequate. His middle-class upbringing wasn’t what she needed.
Sierra introduced the trucker as Bo. After Dave shook his hand, Bo eyed him up and down. “I thought your friend was a girl,” he said to Sierra and spat on the ground.
“Nope, he’s male.”
Dave sized Bo up, too. He wore a Falcons hat and had beady, deep-set eyes. His goatee was brown with red streaks. A scrawny man a foot shorter than Dave, he didn’t look big enough to be driving such a large rig. But Dave knew not to underestimate smaller men. They were normally much faster than he was, and their wiry strength often gave them the upper edge.
“Whatever, get on in. I’m ready to hit the road.”
Sierra didn’t thank the man profusely or sweeten her temperament to show any appreciation, just walked to the passenger door, and like a pro, opened it on the first tug and pulled herself up the ladder and inside. Dave followed closely, getting a full view of her ass in front of his face. The ass that had been his, all his, early this morning.
There was only one captain’s chair other than the driver’s seat, so Sierra offered to sit in the back on the bed. He prayed she kept the curtains open. It should take them only ten minutes tops to get to the rental agency she had identified last night, but he’d feel better if he could see her.
Bo started up the semi with a loud rumble and barely
checked for traffic before he was easing out of the truck stop onto the state road that led to the highway onramp. Staying in first gear, he used controls on his steering wheel to shuffle through music stations until he landed on a heavy rock station.
He looked almost like a kid behind the giant steering wheel, but Dave had to give it to him; he handled the double rig well. Dave didn’t think he, personally, would have the balls for it.
“So you guys are heading to Nashville?”
Dave tried to relax, but it felt strange so high up in the seat, traffic streaming around them, the sounds of the high whine before he engaged the next gear. It put him on edge, and rarely did things bother him. “Yep, for a rugby tournament.”
A glance over his shoulder showed Sierra with her laptop open again. Maybe she was working. It seemed important enough to her.
“Don’t know much about rugby. I’m a football man myself.”
Yeah, Falcons, Dave had figured. “It’s an awesome sport. You should watch it if you have the opportunity.”
“Nah.” He lifted a paper cup from the console and spit into it. “I’ve seen a bit of it. Not interested.”
Right. Dave blew out a breath. “How long you been driving truck?” Dave estimated him to be late thirties, maybe early forties.
“Since high school. Love it, wouldn’t do anything else.” Bo turned down the radio. “What’s your job?”
Dave hated this question, abhorred it. He jokingly said to Sierra, “Ladies first.”
“I’m a hairdresser,” she said with little emotion. Huh. He didn’t expect that with her obsession with the computer. Strange, but then everyone was obsessed with social media these days. He wasn’t into it, but he understood others’ need to be connected.
“And you?” Bo nodded at him. Dave got the feeling he was judging Dave’s manliness by his answer. Or maybe Dave was just paranoid. “I own a shop.”
“What kind of shop?” Bo asked.
“A flower shop.”
Sierra piped in, “Seriously?”
“Yep.”
Bo snorted. “So you’re a florist?”
Prick. “I prefer the term designer.”
Bo laughed out loud and spit again into the cup. “A big guy like you a florist? Are you—?”
“I’m not gay if that’s what you are asking.”
Bo was still chuckling to himself when Sierra said, “Confirmed. He’s definitely not gay.”
Obviously, Dave had just made Bo’s day as he still sat there with a big grin on his face. Dave let out a loud sigh and looked out the window. At least Sierra had defended him. The day was gray, but at least it was warmer than northern Michigan. Since Traverse City was at the top of the Mitten, and they were now in the middle of Indiana, twenty degrees difference felt like a heat wave.
It was stuffy in here. He found the control for the window and rolled it down a few inches. Sierra directed the driver to the next exit. He couldn’t imagine not paying the man for his trouble, but he didn’t have any cash on him. Or very little—the few bills would be an insult, if anything.
As Bo downshifted to slow as they approached the off-ramp, he asked, “So what’s your favorite flower, flower boy?” He was smirking over at him, and without a doubt, Dave would bet this man had small-man syndrome, threatened by any male, and sometimes even females, taller than him.
“I don’t have a favorite. I like them all, and there’s an arrangement for every flower, even a weed like Queen Anne’s Lace.”
He laughed. “What about you, pretty lady?”
“Roses.”
Dave knew it! He had picked her right. He was near one-hundred percent accuracy on picking flowers for people.
“Ain’t that a bit boring?” They had come to a stop at the light, and Sierra directed him a mile down and on the left.
“They’re expensive, and I’ve never gotten them before.”
Dave made a mental note to send her a dozen Ecuadorian, but not red, the orange ones. Maybe to her work. “What hairdresser do you work at in TC?”
“En Vogue, but only part-time.”
There was so much Dave didn’t know about the woman he’d had hot sex with this morning. This was a first in his life, and as bothered as he was by it, Sierra didn’t seem to be at all. Maybe he was just a one-nighter for her. But there had definitely been a connection. Well, he was almost sure… Maybe.
The gears on the heavy semi whined and then the kush of the airbrakes as they came to a stop in a Walmart parking lot. Sierra was loading her laptop back into her bag, so Dave assumed this is where they got off. He’d never been so out of the loop in organizing his day. He owned a business, and he was good at management, but Sierra… There was something about her that was a level even above him. She was totally confident in her movements, her decisions, an intelligence that obviously had skipped Dick’s DNA. In a way, she seemed more mature than Dave at twenty-eight, older beyond her years, but she couldn’t be, if at all.
Dave stuck out his hand to Bo. “Thanks for the ride.”
Bo was sitting back in his chair, his cap low on his forehead, his one arm on the armrest of the door, the other in his lap. He didn’t move to shake Dave’s hand. He only nodded and said, “No problem.”
Dave looked to Sierra, but she didn’t seem worried, so Dave opened the door and climbed out. He waited for Sierra to follow, but she seemed to be waiting for him to leave. She looked to him and then back to Bo and finally held out a small flash drive. “Thanks again.”
Bo took it with another nod. “You’re welcome, pretty lady, nice doing business with ya.”
Sierra pushed on Dave’s chest to get him to go down and then scrambled after him. He didn’t even get a chance to view her fine ass this time.
“Be cool.” She waved at Bo, just a salute of two fingers.
“Be cool,” he repeated, and she slammed the door shut. Without a word, she started walking toward a strip mall to the left of the Walmart plaza so that Dave had to jog to catch up.
“What did you give him?”
“Just something to thank him for his time and gas.”
“On a flash drive?”
Sierra slowed as a car passed in front of them, and Dave grasped her arm. She finally stopped and looked at him. “It’s just a bunch of movies I had on my laptop he wanted. No biggie.” She broke his grip and started walking again.
He stepped up beside her. “What? Like the latest releases or something?”
“Yeah.”
“Isn’t that illegal? Pirating videos?”
She snorted out her nose. “So?”
Dave was a straight arrow, and the last twelve hours with Sierra was twisting him up. He was a good guy, had prided himself in that his whole life. Now that idea made him feel less than, like he wasn’t rough enough around the edges for her. “Were the videos ones you owned or…?”
“It was porn.”
What? “You gave the guy porn movies?”
“Yep, in exchange for the lift over here.”
And what the hell was Sierra doing with porn movies on her laptop? Damn, Dave was vanilla in comparison. He’d never owned any porn and only watched it once for a few minutes when it was on at his friend’s house. So that would make him light vanilla. Or maybe even lighter than that. If it was based on ice cream, he’d be a non-dairy sorbet.
“Here it is.” She stepped up and opened the door to a Hertz rental. The bell chimed as they walked in. There was only one man behind a short counter helping a businessman in a suit and tie, one of those stiffs at a mid-level job who thought they were super important. Loads of the type came into the shop, acting as if they were the next Fifty Shades dude to women, flashing lots of credit cards but then penny pinching when it came to flowers for their ladies.
There wasn’t much to the room. A few hard chairs lined the front window, a water and coffee station on the right. They walked to the counter. Next to the businessman, Dave was a rumpled, unshaven mess. Suit glanced back while waiting for the Hertz
worker and then did a double take at Sierra. She didn’t even look at him, which made Dave feel a bit better. And when the guy gawked, an ugly leer on his face, Sierra shifted closer to Dave, barely perceptible except to a sensitive heart like his own. It swelled, and Dave put a hand to her lower back and rubbed.
She looked at Dave and gave him a half smile. Boy, when Sierra lowered her guard, she was stunning. But as soon as she stepped forward after Suit left, her face shuttered once again. “Reservation for Richards, Sasha,” she said before the young Hertz worker even greeted her.
When Dave tugged at her elbow, she only shook her head at him.
The guy typed away. “Yep, got it here. One day rental to Nashville.”
“Yes.”
Dave pulled his wallet from his back pocket and held it on the counter, but Sierra placed her hand over his. “I got this.”
The Hertz guy’s brow furrowed for a second. “You requested a car from our Adrenaline Collection.”
At Dave’s raised eyebrows, Sierra said, “To get us there as quick as possible.” She then smiled at the clerk who had heard the exchange and looked up.
“You requested the Camaro convertible, but unfortunately we don’t have that one here at this smaller facility, but we do have the regular Camaro SS.”
“That’s fine.”
That was strange. She’d said she didn’t have money for the motel room, yet here she was charging a five-hundred-dollar car for only a half day’s drive, if that.
“The car is charged to TC Financial Group.” The clerk looked at Sierra skeptically again, but pointed to two highlighted Xs on the page. “Just sign here and here.”
TC Financial Group? What the hell was going on?
Sierra didn’t hesitate and scrawled an illegible name, only the S of her the name readable, the rest a wiggly slash across the page.
The clerk grabbed a set of keys from under the counter. “I’ll pull the car around front for you. Be right back.”
